With perforations at 2854' and 2905' and plug at 3080', pressured tool and some holes took 1 barrel of fluid in 3 minutes at 2000#. Mixed 25 sacks o.f Type "G"'cement to ll4#/cu, ft. ,slurry and, assuming the slurry was going out the perforations at 2854', squeezed 10 sacks to formation at 2150#, then the pressure dropped to 2000# for the balance of the displace- ment. Lum Love ly Beaver State #1 At 1:30 PM on January 9, 1970, I returned a call to Mr. A1 Hilton, Rig Supervisor for Lum Lovely on the subject well. Mr. Hilton wanted to advise us of a potential problem that might exist on the well. They had drilled hole to 405' 16" hole and set casing with good cement returns~ They drilled out from under the 16" casing with 14 3/4 bit and encountered first cole around 500'~. They were carrying a mud weight of 9.8 to 10.1 pounds per gallon. At about 1,700' they picked up a containable background of gas which existed to 1,876'. They logged the well and ran 10 3/4" casing to 1,827'. Calculated fill-up for cementing at this step was 179 bbls. They p~ed 165 bbls of cement when roughneck on the~p!~Jl indicated they were getting cement returns. At 175 bbls they *~'~'~ ~g. In the last 150 sacks of cement they had mixed 4 sacks of chloride:~in two tanks of water to accelerate setting. It therefore appeared that 10 sacks of cememt had circulated and displacement was reasonably close to calculated~values. The job wa~ completed~ at 9:31 PM on 12/31/69. They should ~ ~o~ ~C and welder started ~0 ~,f~/~up on the morning of January 1st. One of the roughnecks advised Mr. Hilton that he.had seen bubbles coming from between the strings of casing. Mr.. Hilton went to inspect and found that there was a small string 'of bubbles coming between the strings. The welder cut a plate and welded from the 16" to the 10 3/4 casing and put a 2" bleed-off valve in the plate. He estimates that it is leaking approximately 5 cu. ft. per minute of pure h~.~z~ ~{~.~.J ~ C~'~b~~o He tried to dig out cement around the well head to do a top joSbut cement was hard and unable to dig ~re than 3". The only way .to shut off this gas is to perforate the 10 3/4 casing and squeeze cement, Of course this is not desirable while drilling the hole. From all indications there is a good cement job from 10 3/4 seed at 1827 up to the point where, the gas apparently is coming at 1700. A change in lithology and dip indicates a ~/~ at this point. Plans are to drill the hole home to TD and maintain very careful control of mud~ the hole. The crew has been alerted to the dangers that might occur if they sould ~ncounter oil or gas and everyone is aware, additional bleed lines have been installed, heat is being placed on the blow-out preventer, lines have been drained so they will not freeze, preventers were, actuated before going in and out of the hole each time, ~nd stabbing ~ was located 'on the floor ~ the kelly- working fine. It appears that they have taken all reasonable precautions, however, ~. Hilton wanted us to know that ~here is a potential danger if they should encounter something extremely high pressure since there might only be 127' of cemen~ holding under the 10 3/4 casing. They readily agreeable to perforate and squeeze prior to abando~ent. It they encounter oil do~ below then they will run a full string of casing and cement all the way back to the surface. It advised ~. Hilton I could see no other alternative and at the same time or shortly thereafter advise the entire staff and there was no better suggestions from the staff or co~ittee. S.M:. Section 32: NW~NE~ We will reach this location from the Palmer-Talkeetna highway by crossing a 160-acre tract of land owned in fee by Rose S. Duley and described as: E~NW~; W~NE~, Section 34, T. 18 N., R. 3 W., S.M. From the southwest.corner of the Duley tract there is an old cleared seis trail leading westward for several miles. This seis trail was cleared to a width of about thirty feet for approximately one and one-fourth miles west of the Duley'tract, and then narrows to a width of about eighteen feet. We plan to level and grade this previously cleared seis trail for a distance of approximately one and one-half miles from the west boundary of the Duley tract 'to a point in the W~E~. of Section 32, in order to use same. as an access road to the well site. From this point we propose to 5lear a route for somewhat less than one-half mile north through a wooded area to the well location. An area approximately 200' by 300' will be cleared at the well location for placement of drilling equipment, etc. A sump will be dug-to a depth of about eight feet for an area about 50' by 1OO', The land here involved, lying west of the Duley tract, is all uninhabited sta~e land, is not being used for any purpose, and is all under current state oil and gas leases held by the undersigned. -The land is covered by a growth of trees measur- ing no larger than about, two inches in diameter. There are no lakes o.r streams near the proposed route or well location. The Little Susitna River meanders no closer than approximately one-half mile north of the Well site, and there is no drainage from the well sire into the' Little Susitna River.-~ The land, here involved is not adjacent to any state land used as a recreation area or for any other purpose. The ground is fir~ over the proposed route, and we do not antlcipate.:the necessity of spreading gravel on the route. The well site will be situated on bed rock and is located on swamp';-free_ high ground. It may be necessary~to gravel a portion of the'pad as. a base for the drilling rig. The proposed access route and the drill site are shown on attached plats. All reasonable and prudent precautions will be taken in preparing this access .route to the well site', as well as the drilling pad..at the well site. LUM LOVELY (L.- C.
