Our adopted conventions for assigning APl numbers, permit numbers and well names-did not specifically address expired or cancelled permits. This omission has caused some inconsistencies in the treatment of these kinds of applications for permit to drill. Operators have asked us to adopt formal procedures for this class of permit application in order to prevent future database disparities. If a permit expires or is cancelled by an operator, the permit number of the subject permit will remain unchanged. The APl number and in some instances the well name reflect the number of preexisting reddlls and or multilaterals in a well. In order to prevent confusing a cancelled or expired permit with an active well or multilateral these case sensitive well identifiers will be changed for expired and cancelled applications for permits to ddll. The APl number for this cancelled or expired permit is modified so the eleven and twelfth digits is 95. The well name for a cancelled or expired permit is modified with an appended xx. These procedures are an addendum to the APl numbering methods described in AOGCC staff memorandum "Multi-lateral (wellbore segment) Drilling Permit Procedures, revised December 29, 1995. AOGCC database has been changed to reflect these changes to this permit. McMains - ~ Statistical Technician ccmPletion Report Yes · Core Chips t . Hamilton, Commissioner Alaska Oil & Gas Conservation Commission J~~ 3001 Porcupine Drive ~ Anchorage Alaska 99501 ~/ ~'? .J' Dear Sir' RECEIVED Application for Permit to Drill Notice of Intent to Abandon Granite Point 18742 Well No. 20 Redrill Granite Point Field Platform Bruce~ Cook Inlet, Alaska Alaska Oil & GJs (,,ons, bommisslon Attached in triplicate is a completed State Form lO-401, Application for Permit to Drill Granite Point 18742 Well No. 20 Redrill. Also included in triplicate is a State Form 10-403, Sundry Notice of Intent to Abandon the lower portion of the existing wellbore and recomplete the well by sidetracking. The subject well was originally completed as a flowing oil well on May 7, 1968 and coverted to hydraulic lift on October 26, 1968. Cumulative production in Well No. 20 is far below offset producers, Granite Point 18742 Wells No. 8, No. 18 and 17586 Well No. 4. The proposed redrill is anticipated to improve ultimate recovery in the northeast portion of Granite Point Field. In view of the above, Amoco proposes to abandon the exiting wellbore below 7750', mill a conventional section in the existing 9-5/8" casing, and sidetrack the wellbore by drilling 8-1/2" hole to a new bottomhOle location. The proposed targets are the top of the Middle Kenai C-5 sand at -8500' subsea, 1800' FNL, 1550' FWL of Section 31, TllN, RllW and the C-8 sand at 1700' FNL, 1400' FWL at -9300' subsea. Total depth, estimated at lO,lO0', will be achieved followi.ng complete penetration of the C-8 zone. The well will be selectively perforated and recompleted as a pumping oil well. August 31, 1979 LAD-742-WF Page 2 Well No. 20 Redrill will be the fourth well completed in the northwest quarter of Section 31, TllN, RllW, S.M. We hereby request administrative apProval for the subject well. In addition to the Forms 10-401 and 10-403, our company draft #60309 dated August 30, 1979, in the amount of $100 is enclosed to cover the filing fee. Also, a plat showi.ng the location of the proposed well in relation to the Granite Point structure and a sketch of the 12" BOP stack and existi.ng wellbore have been included. There are no offsetting operators affected by this proposal. Your prompt consideration of the proposed abandonment and redrill of Granite Point 18742 Well No. 20 will be appreciated. We expect work to' commence on September 10, 1979. Very truly yours, L. ~A. Darsow District Superintendent Attachments MJN/kl t 'Form 10-401 !
