Well A32-11R will be drilled directionally out of the existing 7" casing of
A42-11 by deepening the well. A 6" hole will be drilled out of the 7" shoe of
A42-11 to 10,834' MD (9,942' TVD). A 5" production 1 iner will be run and
cemented from 10,834' MD to 6,800' MD (470' above the existing perforations in
the 7"). The well will be renamed as A32-11R. Additional information on the
proposed operations for A32-11R is included in the Application for Permit to
Drill MGS A32-11R dated June 10, 1993.
SWEPI is planning on using the existing wel 1 bore of A42-11 to drill well A32-11R.
The existing perforations in well A42-11 will be plugged and abandoned by running
and cementing a 5" production liner across the perforation zone.

1. Fill well bore via the annulus with Filtered Inlet Water (FIW).
2. Rig up Coiled Tubing Unit (CTU), acid treatment materials & equipment,
and return fluid processing materials & equipment.
3. Clean out wellbore to PBTD with downhole motor and bit/mill assembly.
4. Acid treat via CTU with 5 to 7-1/2% hydrochloric (HC1) acid.
5. Neutralize all return fluids prior to sending to production facilities.
6. Return well to production via gas lift.
7. Pump scale inhibition squeeze treatment as outlined in steps 13 - 17 of
sundry approval no. 92-066.
Proposed Operations Summary
Fill was tagged with wireline on 4/25/92 at 7642' indicating a scaling
restriction covering the Hemlock productive interval (top HC-HD perf at
7938'). A coiled tubing unit clean out and acid stimulation is proposed to
remove the scale fill covering the perforation interval.
MGS A42-11 was shut-in January 16, 1992 after observing no liquid outflow
associated with the gas lift gas. The last representative production test
prior to shut-in (12/24/91) was 318 BPD Gross, 50% cut, and 159 BOPD clean.
Wireline operations on 1/18/92, and subsequent pressure monitoring, indicated
a scale plug in the tubing 24' above the gas lift orifice. A "down tubing"
acid solvent wash of the tubing on 4/02/92 resulted in a returned production
rate of 200 BPD Gross, 80% cut, and only 40 BOPD clean (Sundry Approval No.
92-066).

RU return line choke manifold to take backflow returns to the group
production separator. RU a sampling valve at the choke manifold to
monitor type and pH of the return fluids if necessary. Have H2S
monitoring equipment available to measure H2S concentration in the
sampled fluids.
4.
3. RU high pressure injection pump, injection line with check valve,
return line "Tee", and isolation valves. Pressure test all lines and
valves to 5000 psi to ensure operational integrity.
2. RU Halliburton with a pumpable volume of 500 gals 25:75 Xylene/acid
dispersion system. Include the following additives in the acid/solvent
mix. Ensure all hazardous materials are properly manifested in
accordance with Department of Transportation Regulations.
- 375 gals 15% HCl acid,
- 0.5% HAI-85 Corrosion Inhibitor,
- 125 gals Xylene,
- 1.0% WS-36 Emulsifier (for oil external emulsion),
- 20#/1000 gal FERCHEK-A iron chelating agent.
1. Bleed pressure from tubing/casing annulus to 0 psig and sample returns.
If no water is observed in the bleed-off returns, fill annulus with FIW
from downstream of the CUNO filters. ~
RECOMMENDED PROCEDURE
MECHANICAL DETAILS: See Attached wellbore diagram.
- Well shut-in January 16, 1992 because of a scale bridge in the
tubing at 7030' (62' above the gas lift orifice).
- The tubing 1D restriction extends up to 6601' .
- Sample analysis indicates the solids are 77.5% CaC03 scale,
22% organic/paraffin materials, and 0.5% Fe203 scale.
- The scale portion is 99% soluble in HCl acid.
- A pump-in test on 2/07/92 indicates an injectivity past the
obstruction of 0.4 BPM at 1700 psi.
- Well completed to produce from GN-GO through the HR-HZ.
- Last Test 12/24/91; 318 BFPD Gross @ 50% H20 cut, 159 BOPO.
PRESENT STATUS:
OBJECTIVES: Acid/Solvent wash tubing to remove scale and paraffin
obstruction and return well to production at 160 SOPO.

8. Pump/bullhead 500 gals (11.9 bbls) 25:75 Solvent/Acid mix (25% Xylene +
75% 15% HCL) followed by 2200 gals (52.4 bbls) FIW to displace the
solvent/acid mix to cover the observed scale interval. Monitor
injection rate, tubing pressure, and tubing/casing annulus pressure.
Do not exceed 4000 psi injection pressure during pumping operations.
SO pump and record ISIP and 5 minute SIP.
9. Immediately following the 5 min SIP, backflow the aCid/solvent wash mix
to agitate the wash mix and expose new surface area for acid/solvent
contact. Measure and monitor the backflow return fluid volume. Do not
exceed 500 gallons backflow volume.
10. Immediately following the backflow stage (when the tubing pressure is
o psig or 500 gallons maximum has been returned), pump/bullhead a volume
of FIW equal to the backflow volume to place the acid/solvent mix across
the scaled interval. Let the acid/solvent soak for at leas~60 minutes.

7. Establish injectivity down tubing to ensure the scale bridge restriction
will pass the treatment fluid. Monitor injection rate, tubing pressure,
and tubing/casing annulus pressure. Do not exceed 4000 psi injection
pressure during pumping operations.

NOTE: H2S concentrations of 150 - 250 ppm are not uncommon in spent acid
returns during MGS producing well acid treatments.
NOTE: Notify Onshore Operator when any backflowed treatment fluid is being
sent. Because the operations may result in a significant quantity of
solvent in the return fluids, the Onshore Operator should be notified
and instructed to divert the transferred fluid to the holding tanks.
This will allow dilution of the treatment fluid if necessary prior to
processing through the plant.

6. Hold safety meeting with Halliburton and all other service company and
platform personnel to discuss the proposed operations. Emphasize safety
concerns with the chemicals to be used and with H2S during acidizing
operations.
5. Install a 1" turbine meter to monitor injection rates averaging 0.4 BPM.
Install pressure gauges to monitor tubing pressure, and tubing/casing
annulus pressure.

17. Halliburton will schedule sample frequency to monitor residual scale
inhibitor to determine effective squeeze life. Report residuals to
Production Engineering in Anchorage.
a) RU high pressure line, control choke, and isolation valves to
inject down the production tubing of A42-11. NOTE: The high
pressure line should be installed downstream of the AII-13RD2
turbine flowmeter to monitor FIW injection rate into A42-11.
b) Install pressure gauge downstream of control choke to monitor
injection pressure on A42-11.
c) Install injection "TEE" , isolation valve, and chemical injection
pump to allow injection of scale inhibition chemical downstream of
the control choke.
d) Pressure test all lines to injection header pressure (-3700 psi).
15. 51 AII-13RD2 and establish FIW injection into A42-11 at a maximum
pressure of 2500 psi. Inject 165 gallons (3 drums) 5CALECHECK LP-60 at
a 5% dilution rate into 3300 gallons (78.6 bbls) FIW followed by
200 bbls FIW flush to bullhead scale inhibitor solution into formation.
Do not exceed 2500 psi injection pressure. Allow scale inhibitor to
soak a minimum of 24 hrs.

13. RU FIW to the tubing/casing annulus from downstream of the CUNO filters.
Fill the annulus taking returns from the tubing to the group production
separator. After allowing gas and oil to migrate to surface, bleed gas
from the annulus and again fill annulus with FIW.
14. RU FIW from the injection line of A11-13RD2 as follows:
12. Continue producing well via gas lift until operation has stabilized and
representative well tests are obtained.
11. Backflow the acid/solvent wash mix until the tubing pressure is 0 psig.
RU gas injection header to annulus and lift well to production. Notify
the Onshore Operator when the volume produced indicates the acid/solvent
mix is returned.

The Middle Ground Shoal well no. A42-11 is currently producing 99 BOPD
with a 36% water cut. Production decline of oil and water rate
indicates scaling impairment. Also, a pressure/temperature survey run
8/10/89 tagged fill at 8598' (covering 37' of HR-HZ perforations).
The following operations are recommended to clean out and acid
stimulate the production interval. A copy of the current mechanical
configuration of the wellbore is attached.

This well is to be drilled in the same quarter section being
produced by A-32-ll Lower, a lower zone well with only partial penetr-
ation of Pool G. We recognize that under Order 31, to produce A-42-ll
we must shut down production of A-32-ll Lower until such time as narrower
spacing is permissable.
Enclosed for your approval is our Application for Permit to
Drill well SAS MGS A-42-ll. The well will be directionally drilled
to bottom in the SE/4 of the NE/4 of Section 11, T8N, R13W, S.M.
Also enclosed is our check in the amount of $50.00 for the filing fee.
