From: Bill Penrose [mailto:bill~,fairweather. com] Sent: Tuesday, May 01, 2001 8:57 AM To: Tom Maunder (E-mail) Subject: RE: Swanson Workover Program Tom, Following each question that' you posed is the answer, preceded with an A: One big question.. What rig is proposed? A: H&R Rig #9, being imported from Canada. SRU 14-15... -What are the BHPs of the old interval and the new? Unless there is a possibilitY of a high.pressure zone (there are a few out there), 3000 psi sounds appropriate. A: BHP of the old interval is 4,900 psi and will only flow water. The BHP of the new interval is 3,000 psi and is expected to flow gas. The request for testing the BOPs to only 3,000 psi as well as not installing an SSV is an artifact from one of the other programs. Please disregard it. It is our intention to'test the BOPs to 5,000 psi. -You request not to-have a SSV since the well will not flow unassisted, but this is a .gas' well. Is the SSV request an artifact from another program? A: Yes, as stated above, the SSV request is an artifact. Please disregard it. -Do you plan to do a casing test in the pre rig work or prior to perfing? A: We will perform a casing test after plugging the presently perforated interval. -How the well will look after workover is not too difficult to imagine, but a drawing will help as ! move it up the line. A: I will generate proposal drawings ASAP and get them to you. -What gas rate is expected? Will 2-3/8" tubing iimit'the production? A: The gas rate is expected to be ~2MMSCFD which will not be limited by the 2-3/8" tubing. 1 of 4 5/3/01 10:05 AM FW: Swanson Workover Program -What zone/sand is the new completion in? A: The Tyonek 62-5 Sand SRU 234-15... -This plan is pretty straight forward. You have the BHP of the intended zone. Are there any others of concern? A: No, we'll just reperf the existing perforated intervals. -The present packer is a fair distance above the PBTD. Fill is mentioned, has it been tagged? A: No tag run has been made since this interval was perforated. However, the well makes sand so there is probably some amount of fill. -Do you plan to do a casing test in the pre rig work or prior to reperfing and gravel packing? A: No. The perforations are open and the producing pressure will be very Iow. -Although you have larger tubing planned for this well, will it limit production? A: No. There will not be enough rate from this well to see the tubing as a limitation. SRU 14A-33,... -As i indicate in my comments...is there any intent or need to clean out the deeper intervals? A: No. We'll just acidize the existing perfs. -You are requesting not to have a SSV on a gas lifted completion. As noted above, will adding the G perfs make the well capable of flowing? A: No. The BHP in the G-Zone is 1600 psi and will not allow the well to flow. -If the request for no SSV is approved, is there some shutdown mechanism on the gas lift? A: There are 2 manual valves at the surface for shutting in the gas lift. While discussing this question, the field supervisor and I decided that we are uncomfortable with the possibility of a line leak occuring some time before somebody notices and tums off the gas lift gas supply. We therefore withdraw the request to eliminate the SSV. -What are the BHPs. A: Hemlock BHP = 1500 psi, G Zone BHP = 1600 psi I would appreciate some detailed information regarding the downhole - equipment and the surface pumping unit. A: Photos and diagrams attached to this message. I can provide more technical data if you'd like. SCU 33A-8... How high will the tie back be? A: The casing leak is suspected to be at the port collar at 7,332'. The tie-back liner will extend up to cover it, making the tie-back -2500' long. if the leak is found elsewhere, it will effect the length of the liner as the .intent is to tie back from the existing TOL to just above the leak. 2 of 4 5/3/01 10:05 AM FW: Swanson Workover Program Will it be fully cemented? A: Yes. BOP and contingencies when using crane? A: We plan to use a 2-ram stack consisting of: Top: 2-7~8", 1500 psi WP, 0 - 1-1/2", variable rod rams Btm: 2-1/2", Model LP-15, 0- 1-i/2", variable rod rams Each well will use both rams while .running the rods, with the bottom set being left on the well as a permanent part of the wellhead equipment (i.e., when it's all done, each well will have an LP-15 BOP left on it and the top ram will be left over for future use in running and pulling rods.). Is there any iiklihood that the Hemlock could flow after reperfing? A: No, the BHP is only 1500 psi, not enough to lift the oil column. Need BHPs A: BHP -- 1500 psi. Will tubing be anchored? A: Yes, see the attached gas anchor sChematic. Will gas be produced out of a casing valve? A: Yes. SCU 33-33 Why base oil on this one? A: Base oil is being used because the G-Zone is very water-sensitive. Any plan to test the casing? A: No, the perforations are open and the producing pressure will be very Iow. SCU 13-34 BHP = 1500 psi. Please call or wdte with any additional questions or comments. This Sundry Notice is being submitted to comply with 43 CFR 3162.3-4, paragraph (c) of the Bureau of Land Management Regulations. As shown on the Sundry Notice, we are requesting that the 12 month approval period for the proposed TA wells coincide with the Plan Period of the Twenty-Ninth Plan of Development and Operations for the Swanson River Field; i.e. April 1, 1993 to March 31, 1994. These concurrent time periods will greatly simplify future TA Sundry Notice and Plan of Development and Operations preparation. Two information sheets are attached with this Sundry Notice request. Attachment 1 lists the Proposed TA wells using the same format as submitted last year by ARCO. The two general categories are shut-in wells being held for evaluation for current uses or disposition and wells being held for future uses under field blowdown. Attachment 2 gives a brief explanation for each well that has been added or removed from the proposed Temporarily Abandoned List. Two wells, SCU 243-8 and SCU 21-8 were added to the list while three wells, SRU 21-22, SRU 12A-14 and SRU 211-15 were removed from the list.
