FORM SA-1B 100M 9/65 MEMORANDUM TO: J-~IE FILBS State of Alaska DIVISION OF ~S Ab~ MZI~IC-~..S Thomas R. Narshall, Jr. FROM:Petroleum Supervisor ~ DATE : SUBJECT: July 21, 1966 Field Trip Report, Great Basins Petroleum Company, Ugashik ~1 I left International Airport via C 47, chartered to Great Basins Petroleum Company. Landed at well site and I immediately inspected blowout preventer - equipment. Our arrival was unannounced because communications have been out of order for several days. Blowout prevention equipment was in good working condi- tion and properly chained down. 1500 pounds hydraulic pressure was maintained in accumulators. Well site records indicate preventers were checked after every trip out of the hole. Other rig personnel in addition to Ken Dennington, the Tool Pusher, substantiated this procedure. Attention was called to Trinity Drilling Company Expediter, Jay Sullivan, that a relief line below the preventers should be vented to the reserve pit, and also that fire extinguishers were noticeably absent on the drilling floor. General inspection showed the housekeeping was excellent and materials were handled in a very efficient manner. There was no garbage or trash of any kind in evidence. This was partly because the brown bears had gotten into the garbage pit and now the operator is back-filling the pit as new garbage is added. The geolograph in the doghouse registered a present total depth of 6764'. Exploratory Logging Company maintained a logging unit at the location and a mud log was being prepared progressively. Returned to Anchorage via C 47 the same day. TtCtt/cjh For~.
