VonderAhe SUBJECTJ Chuitna River State #1 Pan American Petroleum Corp., Operator Abandoned condition of well site. March 28, 1967 This morning I flew to G~anite Point air strip via Sea Airmotive, Pan American Petroleum chartered Plane thence by helicopter to site of Chuitma River State #1. ' The D-8 bulldozer was still in the process of leveling the site and covering debris. The sump had been filled to above level and packed down. The site in general was fairly leveled but there were still some pieces of metal and small diameter pipe visible. Also some mud in broken s~cks. Left orders that all such trash be completely covered and the site be leveled better. The well marker was cemented in place and consisted of a 6" diameter pipe extending about 7 feet above the ground. Bead-welded on it in four lines and reading from top to bottom was the following information: "PAN AMERICAN .~PETROLEUM CORP." ,,Chuitna River D~ j..3.19.3. No. i" "559' FNL-797' FEL" ',Sec. 15 - T12N' R12W" While the site appeared to be in fairly satisfactory condition a check should be made after the snow is gone. This could be dome from the air when in the area for other purpose. Abandoned condition approved tentatively, subject to later check. Marshall, Jr. Petroleum Supervisor Alaska Department of Natural Resources Division of Mines and Minerals 3001 Porcupine Drive Anchorage, Alaska Dear Mr. Marshall: This is in reference to Chuitna River State ADL 03193, Pan American Petroleum Corporation, Operator. The Department of Fish and Game requests that the following wildlife stipulations be incorporated in the lease: (1) Prior to drilling, the operator must construct a sump of sufficient size to contain all waste well fluids. (2) Prior to drilling, the operator must construct a low dike around the drilling area to contain any spills that might occur. (3) Upon completion or abandonment of the well the sump must be filled in. If there is to be a road constructed to the drill site we would like to receive from Pan American a description of the road. Of special concern are stream crossings and precautions for avoidance of erosion. Yours truly, ALASKA DEPARTMENT OF FISH AND GAME Paul A. LeRoux, Water Projects Biologist PAL :pf cc: g. J.
