Gent 1 emen: Mobil Oil Corporation as operator i~ proposing to aba.ndon the Moquawkie No. 1 gas we'I1. Atlantic Richfield owns fifty percent of this well and agrees with our proposal because any attempt to recomplete the well would be uneconomic, Mo.qua~kie No. 1 ~zas completed in two gas produCing intervals, a.n upper zone at (2735'/2765') and a. lower zone at (5300'/5325' and 5345'/5365'). The lower zone was incapable of sustaining production because of hydrate formation and wa. ter production. In April 1969 a pressure survey was run in the long tubing string and water was found standing in the tubing 3000'~Z a.bove the zone.. This is a non-productive zone. The upper interval was shut-in on February 23, 1970 due to excessive B~oduced water associated with the small amount of gas, 1100 - 1500'MCF/da~ de%lvered to the Moqua~kie generator plant. Gas delivered for use of the Tyonek Villa:ge was free without royalty payment a.nd Mobil was paid for only that amount of gas used for commercial sale by the Tyonek's, Because of this contract the gas produced and delivered to the Moqum~kie genera.tot plant was worth a net of approximately $0,01/Mcf. The cost of a workover in an attempt to reestablish production is estimated · at $135,000 over the cost of abandonment. A reserve of 13.5 BCF would have to be developed to pay out this expenditure at the same rate of revenue. RECE V DIVISION OF OIL AND GAS ANCI-IORAG [~ U.S. Department of Interior December 11, 1970 Page two This also represents a payout of the investment in excess of 22 years at the previous delivery rate of 1100 - 1500-Mcf/day. The proven reserves in the upper section of the hole were estimated at 2 Bcf and approximately 1Bcf has been produced. West Moquawkie No. 1 which was recently drilled and abandoned approximately 3/4 of a mile away from this well did not ha~e productive sands in this equivalent interval and therefore establishes that the reservoir is very limited as orevious]v Gas is presently being supplied to the Tyonek generator plant by Pan ~nerica.n's AoS. Kaloa well. Because of the facts mentioned above it is our contention that the Moqum~kie No. 1 has no potential as a commercial producer and that abandonment is justified. Prior to January 1968 the correct coefficient, based on a 2000~ static spring, was used. January through August of this year, a coefficient based on a 20~ static spring was erroneously used. This error has since been corrected. If you have any questions regarding this matter, please contact us. Very truly yours, GBHank: fe . Brawley, Super Gas Accounting RECEIVED NOV . -,... After completing the well in early December, the samples were put in storage in our private core house in Anchorage awaiting completion of Amstrat's new facilities. Upon completion of Amstrat's new warehouse all of our samples were transferred there. At a later date all of the Moquawkie samples including your set were inadvertently transferred to our storage facilities in the Los Angeles area. In compliance with your request we are sending under separate cover one (1) set of washed and dried ditch samples from 200' to 10120' and a set of core chips from Cores #2 and #3. The ditch samples between 10120' and 11364' have been misplaced or lost somewhere in transit. We hope to locate these samples in be near future and will furnish you with cuts from the missing intervals as soon as possible. Water sprays were rigged to cool the underfloor area. 220 sacks of cement were pumped through the fillup line into the conductor without results. A 3" connection was welded into a lifting sub at the top of the drill collars and 260 barrels of mud weighing 137#/cu. ft, were pumped slowly through the drill collars at 0 psi. and no circulation. This form is designed for submitting prot~, ~ls to perform certain well operations, as indicated, on all type,~ ~ .,lands and leases for appropriate action by either a Federal or a State agency, or both, pursuant to applicable Federal and/or State laws and regulations. Any necessary special instructions concerning the use of this form and the number of copies to be submitted, particularly with regard to local, area, or regional procedures and practices, either are shown below or will be issued by, or may be obtained from, the local Federal and/or State office. Item 1: If the proposal is to redrill to the same reservoir at a different subsurface location or to a new reservoir, use this form with appropriate notations. Consult applicable State or Federal regulations concerning subsequent work proposals or reports on the well. Item 4: If there are no applicable State requirements, locations on Federal or Indian land should be described in accordance with Federal requirements. Consult local State or Federal office for specific instructions. Item 14: For the purpose of this determination attach hereto a neat, accurate plat, map or sketch of this lease, section, block or lot locating thereon the proposed site for this location. Plat shall be drawn to a scale which will permit the facile observation of all pertinent data. Show distances of the proposed well from the two nearest lease and section lines, and from the nearest wells on the same lease completed in or drilling to the same reservoir. If the location re- quested is not in conformance with the applicable well-spacing rules, show all off-setting wells to the proposed well, and the names and addresses of all ad- joining lease or property owners. In event plat is filed for the purpose of designating the drilling and producing unit, or proration unit, on which the proposed well is to be drilled, the boundaries of such unit shall be shown, also the boundaries of all other such units attributed to other wells on the same lease completed in or drilling to the same reservoir. The acreage contained within each unit shall also be shown. Do not confuse survey lines with lease lines. The sketch or plat should show your entire lease if po~ble. If it is not practical to show the entire lease and the plat shows only a section, block or lot out of your lease, you should clearly show that same is only a part of the lease. Designate scale to which plat or sketch is drawn. Also designate northerly direction on the sketch or plat. Items 15 and 18: If well is to be, or has been directionally drilled, give distances for subsurface location of hole in any present or objective production zone. Item 22: Consult applicable Federal or ~.tate .regulations,' or appropriate officials, concerning approval of the proposal before operations are started.
