Burrell, Chairman Gentlemen: McCulloch Oil Corporation submits herewith an Application To Drill on the proposed Colville Unit. The well is to be located in the Center of the SW~ of the SW~ of Section 11, T. 1S., R. 1E. We propose to prepare the location and move suitable drilling equipment and a camp onto the location beginning about the first of March, 1971. The equipment will be left at the location all Summer and on or about November 1, 1971, we propose to activate the rig and begin drilling operations well in advance of our December 1, 1971 drilling obligation. We have discussed the possibility of obtaining gravel from the Colville River for a rig pad with Mr. F. J. Keenan, Acting Director of the Division of Lands for the State of Alaska and at his suggestion, have written to him asking for a permit to do so. We are led to believe that a permit will be forthcoming. Our plan is to spread the.gravel about 30" thick over an area about 100' x 200' for the rig equipment and about 18" thick under the camp area (50' x 200'). We believe this will be sufficient as there will be no Summer operations conducted at the location. Our plan is to move the closest available suitable equipment to the location by truck and build a minimum type of ice road to the Umiat air field, and/or a small plane (Beaver or Otter) ice strip by the location to service the moving-in operations this Winter. Next Winter, depending upon ice and snow conditio~s~_w_e would rebuild the air strip and/or ice road to the Um~~ [ IV [ D s trip. Spud pipe into bottom of hole to provide seal during cementing of annulus. Top 13-3/8" pipe to be just below roatry table. Run 1" pipe into annulus, behind 13-3/8" casing for cementing stinger. Cement to surface with 110 cu. ft. of 15.5# Permafrost slurry (cement volume includes 50% excess) estimated 125 - 75# sacks Permafrost cement. Weld flow line from 13-3/8" to circulating tanks. 3 Drill ~" · ~ Hole ® Drill 12~" hole to 1200'. Keep mud temperature as close to 33~ as possible. Keep mud 9.2 ppg to 9.5 ppg ~nd viscosity 45-50 sec./ft. If gravel encountered, raise viscosity with addition of bentonite and small amounts of caustic soda. If mud is lost in gravel, limit drilling rate to 40' to 60'/hr. with reduced pump pres.sures to avoid'forcing mud into gravel as it will flow back causing gravel to slough. Use desander and desilter. Take single shot readings at 150' 30~-~,~9~0~ and 1200' depths. '~(~~ ~' Run 1200' of 9-5/8" 32.3# H-40 Casing Casing to be equipped with Halliburton float collar ana ~'l~a~ -~OOa~ shoe. Threadlocks bottom 5 collars. Cement with 470 c~]~%°'~3'~a of 15.5# Permafrost cement slurry followed by 120 cu. ft. of 15.8# Class "G" slurry. Preheat mixing water of Class "G" slurry to obtain 50~ F. slurry temperature. Use top plug only. Displace with mud. Bump plug and test to 2000 psi. Esti- mated 545 sacks Permafrost and 110 sacks Class "G" cement (includes 50% excess in open hole). * Obtained from D.O.G. when application to drill is approved. 5~ Flange Up 9-5/8" Casing Cut off 13-3/8" casing at cellar floor. Cut off 9-5/8" casing and slip on and weld 9-5/8" casing head. Install double gate valve and Hydrill blowout preventer stack (all to be at least Series 900 rating). Check that annulus between 13-3/8" and 9-5/8" is full of cement and that water has not separated out of the cement. Test BOP stack and casing to 2000# before drilling out' cement. 6. Drill vz Hole Dilute mud system with 30 to 50% water and treat with bicarbonate of soda before drilling out cement. Drill 84" hole to 4200'. Keep mud weight 9.5#, 45~ viscosity, pse desilter and desander, and fine mesh shaker screens. Take single shot readings at 300' intervals. Take ditch samples every 50' or as directed. 7.
