Dear Mr. Stone:
Enclosed is the approved application for permit to redrill the above referenced well.
The permit to redrill does not exempt you from obtaining additional permits required by law
from other governmental agencies, and does not authorize conducting drilling operations until all
other required permitting determinations are made.
Blowout prevention equipment (BOPE) must be tested in accordance with 20 AAC 25 035.
Sufficient notice (approximately 24 hours) must be given to allow a representative of the
Commission to witness a test of BOPE installed prior to drilling new hole. Notice may be given
by contacting the Commission petroleum field inspector on the North Slope pager at 659-3607.

INTERMEDIATE SECTION:
Hydrocarbons could be present in the intermediate section. Geologist advises that the ~K2 & :'K~~
River sand could be oil bearing: Follow good well control
pit volumes and mud returns for any signs of insufficient mud weight
There~$hould'~not:beSign!fi~ht*~stability-problems within the intermediateintewal;' Kick-off with
sufficient-mud weight into theK5 marker shale and maintain through the Kingak shale that will be
encountered... It is adVisable to.minimize pressure surges while drilling, tripping, and running liner.
Additionally,. maximum hole angle will not exceed 32° in the intermediate section. On 'DS 2, tight hole
and packing off'have been the main .problems throughout this interval. Good drilling practices and
10.5 .ppg mUd weight Will :be used to-maintain the shales in the intermediate hole section. Asphalt
shale .products such-as Baranex and-Barotrol in the mud system and the HTHP filtrate values below
10 cc/30 minute will assist with shale stability.
KICK TOLERANCE: 8 112" open hole section is 210 bbls at an ISIP of 194 psi. This assumes an
influx:from the Sag River formation at-10420' MD (8422? TVD), a 7.5 ppg pore pressure within that
interval, a 10.5 ppg mud in the. hole, exerting :pressure against an 11.9 ppg fracture gradient at the
13-3/8" shoe (2661' MD/I'VD.) This assumeS that while circulating a gas kick out of the hole, a
breach in the 9 5/8" casing exposes the sfc casing shoe to pressure.
,P R O D U C TI ON. ,S E.C'TIO'N:
· There in the reservoir section. Production Hole- Pad data sheet
~ indicates 'Pi ',. zone may have a reservoir pressure of 4200 psi. Kingak and Shublik drilling
"" --., !has-~exP~iencedi~ga~:~cut:~ud~!~:Vi~hal~.i~ '~¥~'ave exi~erienced lost returns.
· .KICK TO.LERANCE While drilling 6 118' hole, with 8.'5 ppg mud at the 7" shoe (9.5 ppg F.G.)
would ~be an infinite influx (the annUlar volume) assuming .an influx at section TD of 12,548
(.9034' TVD). This 'is a'wo'rst case scenario based on a 7.2 ppg pore pressure.

Well Control:
Well control equipment consisting of 5000 psi working pressure pipe rams(2), blind/shear rams, and
annular preventer will be installed and is capable of handling maximum potential surface pressures.
Diverter, BOPE and drilling fluid system schematics on file with the AOGCC.
Maximum Anticipated Surface Pressure: (based on BHP & full gas column at 0.10 psi/fi).

Drilling Hazards/Contingencies:
HYDROGEN SULFIDE - H2S
· DS 2 is not designated as an H2S drill site and has no wells with over 10 ppm, (9128199).
Standard Operating Procedures for H2S precautions should be followed at all times.
DRILLING CLOSE APPROACH:
· There are close approach wells associated with this directional plan.

2-26B Permit to Drill
INTERMEDIATE SECTION:
Hydrocarbons could be present in the intermediate section. Geologist advises that the K2 & K1
Marker could contain gas and the Put River sand could be oil bearing. Follow good well control
practices at all times. Monitor pit volumes and mud returns for any signs of insufficient mud weight
There should not be significant stability problems within the intermediate interval. Kick-off with
sufficient mud weight into the K5 marker shale and maintain through the Kingak shale that will be
encountered.. It is advisable to minimize pressure surges while drilling, tripping, and running liner.
Additionally, maximum hole angle will not exceed 32° in the intermediate section. On DS 2, tight hole
and packing off have been the main problems throughout this interval. Good drilling practices and
10.5 ppg mud weight will be used to maintain the shales in the intermediate hole section. Asphalt
shale products such as Baranex and Barotrol in the mud system and the HTHP filtrate values below
10 cc/30 minute will assist with shale stability.
KICK TOLERANCE: 8 112" open hole section is 210 bbls at an ISIP of 194 psi. This assumes an
influx from the Sag River formation at -10420' MD (8422' TVD), a 7.5 ppg pore pressure within that
interval, a 10.5 ppg mud in the hole, exerting pressure against an 11.9 ppg fracture gradient at the
13-3/8" shoe (2661' MD/TVD.) This assumes that while circulating a gas kick out of the hole, a
breach in the 9 5/8" casing exposes the sfc casing shoe to pressure.
PRODUCTION SECTION:
There are no planned fault crossings in .the reservoir section. Production Hole- Pad data sheet
indicates Put R. zone may have a reservoir pressure of 4200 psi. Kingak and Shublik drilling
has experienced gas cut mud. Ivichak zones 4,3,2 & 1 have experienced lost returns.
KICK TOLERANCE while drilling 6 118" hole, with 8.5 ppg mud at the 7" shoe (9.5 ppg F.G.)
would be an infinite influx (the annular volume) assuming an influx at section TD of 12,548
(9034' TVD). This is a worst case scenado based on a 7.2 ppg pore pressure.
Disposal:
No annular injection in this well.
Cuffings Handling: Cuffings generated from drilling operations will be hauled to grind and inject
at DS-04. Any metal cuttings will be sent to the North Slope Borough.
Fluid Handling: Haul all drilling and completion fluids and other Class II wastes to DS-04 for
injection. Haul all Class I wastes to Pad 3 for disposal.

MIRU Slickline. Drift/tag liner top packer @ 10121' with a 4.5" centralizer.
Load and Kill IA and tubing. Perform injectivity test to vedfy ability to pump into the well.
Plug & abandon with 15.8 ppg Classs G cement. Pump 30 bbls of cement. Overdisplace to perfs
with 182 bbls S/W and 46 bbls of diesel for freeze protect. This should place 14 bbls minimum behind
pipe. (Minimum of 5 bbls cement required) Max TOC is 9850' to allow tubing to be cut.
There is a wireline fish in the hole at 11,140' and perforations 11,190-11,600 in the 2 7~8" liner. A
cement plug should be placed from the top of fish to a minimum of 100' above the top perforation
(11140 to 11,040).
MIRU S/L. Drift/Tag TOC w/4.5 centralizer (jet cutter OD for 5-1/2" tubing is 4.437" OD), test, and
document top of cement per AOGCC requirements.
If TOC is higher than 9300', MIRU coil unit with 4.5" mill to clean up cement stringers. Re-PT cement
plug and record on chart.
Test the FMC Gen3 9 5/8" mandrel pack-off to 5000 psi and service lock down studs by backing out
and re-torquing one at a time. Test the tubing hanger pack-off to 5000 psi and service each LDS.
Test the 9 5/8" casing to 3500 psi against the packer. Hold 1000 psi on the tubing to prevent from
collapsing the tubing.
MIRU E/L unit. RIH with jet cutter and sever 5 %" tubing above the 9 5/8" x 5 %" Packer/PBR but
below 9300'. (Anticipated side-track depth is +/-9300' where a 9 518" ClBP & whipstock will be set
after the drilling rig removes the 5 %" tubing.) Jet cutter is acceptable as this tubing will not be fished.
Note the depths of the 8 GLM's in the 5 %" tbg string. Circulate clean seawater around IA and tubing.
Check with the 7ES Rig Supervisor regarding rig timing and determine if freeze protection to diesel will
