05-33A
Well Type: Producer
Current Status: The well is currently shut-in.
MIT - T Passed to 3000 psi 07/5/2009
MIT - OA Passed to 2000 psi 4/8/2010
•
Request: Approval is requested for the P&A of PBU well 05-33A. 05-33A has a production casing leak
leaving it inoperable. The low remaining reserves in the well's current location make a RWO repair
uneconomic. Therefore, a rig sidetrack is the most attractive option left to allow this well bore to be fully
utilized and bring value to the field.
Other Requests:
Given rig floor height limitations, a MASP < 3000 psi, and the fact that the three ram drilling BOP
configuration is preferred to a two ram configuration with a spool, BPXA will execute the
provisions of 20 AAC 25.285 (f) (1) regarding the initial testing of the BOPE as follows when
existing wellhead or testing equipment prevents the testing of the lowest set of pipe rams: That
lowest set of rams will be tested at the earliest opportunity during path-forward de-completion
work, i.e., after the completion has been pulled from the well. Safety concerns and spacing
limitations with the wellhead height and tubing spool preclude us from installing a spacer spool in
the three-ram drilling BOP stack.
Scope of Work: The sidetrack plan for the 05-33B includes the following during pre-rig operations: pump
cement across the perforations and circulate cement into the IA, the 3-1/2" tubing will be cut -400' below
KOP. The rig will pull the tubing, cut and pull the 7" casing. A cement plug will be laid in and sidetracked
off of. The 8-3/4" hole will be drilled to the Top of the Sag River where a 7" long string to surface will be
run. The 7" casing string will be cemented with 1000' of cement. The production hole will be drilled with a
6-1/8" BHA building to horizontal. The well will then run horizontally through the Ivishak formation. The
production liner will be 4-1/2" L-80 and fully cemented. Tubing will be 4-1/2" 13Cr, tied into the top of the
production liner.
MASP: 2326 psi
Estimated Start Date: June 25 2010

brine.
3. Re-set BPV and to 1000 psi from below.
4. As the 7" production casing will be cut and pulled on this well, begin the OA monitoring process (un-
cemented annulus / RU to bleeder tank and bleed the OA to 0 psi).
5. Nipple down tree and insert a blanking plug and test from above to 3500 psi per FMC rep. Nipple up
and test BOPE to 3500psi. (NOTE: INSTALL SPACER SPOOL ABOVE THE TUBING SPOOL IF
REQUIRED TO ALLOW THE TESTING OF THE LOWER SET OF RAMS PRIOR TO PULLING THE
TUBING.)
6. Pull the blanking plug and BPV w/tested lubricator per FMC.
7. R/U & pull 3-1/2" tubing from the cut depth at 4400' MD.
8. PU drill-pipe and make bit and scraper run to the top of the tubing stub.
9. RU E-line and run GR/CCL/USIT log from top of the tubing to surface to confirm.
10. With E-line, run and seta 7" EZSV at --4280' MD and test well to 2500 psi for 30 minutes and chart.
11. MU Baker 7" casing cutter and RIH to the top of the EZSV at 4280' MD and circulate the well to clean
brine.
12. Pull the casing cutter up to 4080' MD (~75' below the surface casing shoe) and cut the 7" casing and
circulate the annulus to seawater/fresh water. (NOTE: Be prepared for diesel freeze protect coming
back during the OA circ-out.)
13. With sufficient down-hole barriers in place, pull the 7" casing from the cut through the wellhead/BOPE
per FMC.
14. RIH open-ended drillpipe with 9 5/8" scraper spaced out 300' up. Tag EZSV and CBU, POH.
15. RIH with open-ended drillpipe and diverter and lay a balanced cement plug from the top of the 7"
EZSV at 4280' MD back into the 9 5/8" casing to 3600' MD (-700' cement plug).
NOTE: If the 7" casing cannot be pulled from -75' below the 9 5/8" surface shoe, the 7" casing will be cut
just inside the 9 5/8" shoe and a whipstock departure from the 9 5/8" casing will be back-up plan for
sidetracking this well (will require a CIBP at base of 9 5/8"casing to accommodate a casing test).
16. RIH 8-3/4" drilling assembly with MWD/GR/DIR/RES/PWD and RIH to the top of the cement kick off
plug.
17. Clean-out cement to within 50' of the 9 5/8" surface casing shoe and test the casing to 3000 psi for 30

Dear Mr. Gantt:
Enclosed is the approved application for permit to redrill the above referenced well.
The permit to redrill does not exempt you from obtaining additional permits required by law
from other governmental agencies, and does not authorize conducting drilling operations until all
other required permitting determinations are made.
Blowout prevention equipment (BOPE) must be tested in accordance with 20 AAC 25 035.
Sufficient notice (approximately 24 hours) must be given to allow a representative of the
Commission to witness a test of BOPE installed prior to drilling new hole. Notice may be given
by contacting the Commission petroleum field inspector on the North Slope pager at 659-3607.
Sincerely,
Daniel T. Seamount, Jr.

Intended Procedure
Objective:
Plugback existing wellbore. Directionally drill a horizontal well from the
existing wellbore. Complete with 2-3/8" cemented liner. Perforate and
produce.
Intended Procedure:
Service CTU:
Cement squeeze and plugback the existing completion to -- 10240' md. ,,
Underream cement as necessary to leave TOC at 10240'.
Mill window in 5" casing at -10240' md. Drill 10' of formation with 8.5
ppg Flopro fluid and perform Leak off test to 9.0 ppg.
CT Drilling Rig:
Directionally drill 3" x 2000' horizontal well to access Lower Romeo
reserves. Build angle to -96° at TD.
· Run and cement 2-3/8" liner to TD.
· Perforate selected intervals.
· Place well on production.
NOTE: Drill cuttings will be disposed of at GNI and drilling mud will be disposed at
GNI or Pad 3.

Potential Drilling Hazards
POST ON RIG
The last test for H2S production was 7 ppm in 1995.
BHP: 3250 psi @ 8800' ss (7.1 ppg EMW), BHT 200 °F
(estimated values based on offset wells). No over pressured zones are
anticipated.
Maximum anticipated WHP w/full column of gas: 2370 psi.
Gas saturated intervals are expected in build section.
The drilling fluid will be 8.5 ppg Flopro which will overbalance the formation by 640
psi. Past experience has shown that the formation is able to withstand this
overbalance plus the high ECD due to slimhole drilling.
There are 2 faults that will be intersected in the horizontal section. Each of these
faults has approximately 10' of throw. Precautions should be taken for handling lost
circulation.
