(I believe there is already a CIBP downhole at 9005' that isolates some of the perforations) By setting a CIBP above the perfs and dump bailing cement you are complying with the regulations completely. BTW... the dump bailer has got to be really tiny!!!! PS Tom is handling UIC compliance issues so I do most of the North Slope permitting duties ... Tom From: Brown, Matt (CONTRACT PROFESSIONALS) [mailto:Matt.Brown@bp.com] Sent: Friday, December 11, 2009 1:26 PM To: Maunder, Thomas E (DOA) Cc: Kara, Danny T Subject: K-12A pre-sidetrack work Tom, We would like to amend the abandonment procedure for K-12A side track (Sundry #309-365, approval date 4- Nov-09). The Sundry called for placing a cement plug above the perfs and the procedure was attempted per the Sundry. The cement was placed with 1-3/4" coiled tubing by parking the nozzle just above the liner top (8199'MD} and down squeezing 4.8bbls to leave the liner abandoned. However, the subsequent Slickline tag of the cement plug indicated that the cement top is at 8703' MD, right at the top pert. To circulate a cement plug with coiled tubing in the 2-3/8" liner at this point would be risky due to the small clearance of the 1.75" CT and the 1.995" ID liner, with a likelihood of getting stuck. We propose that instead, the zone be abandoned per the following State regulation: 12/11/2009 Page 2 of 2 20 AAC 25.112 .c.1.E: if the perforations are isolated from open hole below, a mechanical bridge plug set no more than 50 feet above the top of the perforated interval, and either a minimum of 75 feet of cement placed on top of the plug by the displacement method or a minimum of 25 feet of cement placed on top of the plug with a dump bailer; The proposed abandonment procedure would be as follows: 1. Set cast iron bridge plug in the 2-3/8" liner within 50' above the top perforation 2. Dump bail +/-30' of cement with Slickline. WOC. Tag cement top 3. Pressure test plug to 1000 psi. The sidetrack procedure calls for setting a whipstock above the cement plug, drilling out and cementing a liner 150' above the millout window. The 150' of cement above the window will also serve as isolation from the old wellbore in addition to the dump-bailed cement plug/CIBP. Please advise on the next step with respect to amending the Sundry. Attached is a wellbore schematic for reference. MIT - IA Passed to 3000 psi 09/9/09 MIT - OA Passed to 2000 psi 09/6/09 PPPOT - T passed 9/30/09 PPPOT - IC passed 9/30/09 ~ Request: Approval is requested for the P&A of PBU well K-12A. At current operating conditions K-12A is uncompetitive and has had no significant on-time since 2006 due to high GORs. All producible sands have been accessed in Zone 1 and the Sag gas condensate has proved to be too high ot GOR to produce. With no available gas shut off options left and a cemented 2 3/8" liner, it has been determined that this well is ready for a rig sidetrack. /' Approval of P&A method is also requested. K-12A has a CIBP that has open perfs above and below it. ~~' The proposed P&A method is to place a cement plug above the CIBP @ 9,005' MD instead of PBTD C~3 10,950'. The top of the proposed cement plug would be a minimum of 100' above the top perf. Other Requests: Given rig floor height limitations, a MASP < 3000 psi, and the fact that the three ram drilling BOP configuration is preferred to a two ram configuration with a spool, BPXA will execute the ` provisions of 20 AAC 25.285 (f) (1) regarding the initial testing of the BOPE as follows when / existing wellhead or testing equipment prevents the testing of the lowest set of pipe rams: That ~[c. lowest set of rams will be tested at the earliest opportunity during path-forward de-completion work, i.e., after the completion has been pulled from the well. Safety concerns and spacing limitations with the wellhead height and tubing spool preclude us frorn installing a spacer spool in the three-ram drilling BOP stack. Scope of Work: The sidetrack plan for the K-12B (an ivishak producer) includes the following during pre- rig operations: laying cement across the perforations, the 3-1/2" tubing will be cut ~100' below planned whipstock exit point. The whipstock exit from the 9-5/8" casing is estimated at 8065' MD and will be milled using an 8-1/2" milling assembly. The 8-1/2" hole witl be drilled to the Top of the Sag River where a 7" drilling liner will be run and fully cemented up to --150' inside the 9-5/8". The production hole will be drilled with a 6-1/8" BHA building to horizontal. The well will then run horizontatly through the Ivishak formation. The liner will be a 4-1/2" L-80 liner and the tubing will be 4-1/2" 13Cr, tied into the top of the production liner. Supe~isor DATE: April 20, 2001 FROM: Chuck Scheve; SUBJECT: Petroleum Inspector Safety Valve Tests Prudhoe Bay Unit K Pad Friday..A~)ril 20. 200t' I traveled to BPXs K Pad and witnessed the 30-day retest of the safety valve systems. , , As the attached AOGCC Safety Valve System Test Report indicates I witnessed the testing of 1.'1.'.wellS' and .22' cOmpOnents With 3 failures. The pilots on wells K-06, K- 07 and K-09 tripped below the required set point. The pilot on well K-09 was retested and operated properly, Wells K-06 and K-07 nOrmally fiow into the Iow- pressure system (at 200 to 300 psi) but were recently switched into the high- pressure system. ThePilotSon'.these two wells were left.i.n.'the~'iowpressure..'setting ' (1.25 psi).and tripped'.' nearthis Set.point'.'but. were failed'on, this.test due"to' ='the higher flowing:tubing .pressure required to produce into the high pressure system. These tw0..pilots were. adjusted', to..the.'.higher set pressure. (550 psi).and retested, at'this time. Merv Liddelow pe .rformed the testing today; he demonstrated good test procedures and was a pleasure to work with. A walk through..inspection .of the well houses on this pad was performed during the SVS testing with..no problems noted. All well houses inspected were reasonably clean and all equipment appeared to be in fair conditions. Summary: I witnessed the 30-day retest of the safety valve systems at BPXs K-.
