The Union Oil Company of California submitted a request dated July 12, 1968, for an exception to the 660-foot minimum distance provision of Rule 5(b) of Conservation Order #57 for the deviated well #A-15 Trading Bay State, to produce from perforations in the Hemlock Oil Pool that are located a minimum distance of 562 feet from the perforated interval in the Hemlock Oil Pool in the #A-6 Trading Bay State well. 2. Union Oil Company of California and Texaco, Inc., are the only operators affected by this request. 3. Notice of the hearing on the request was published in the Anchorage Daily News on July 17, 1968, pursuant to Section 2009 of the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Regulations but no protest was received. AND IT FURTHER APPEARING THAT after due consideration an exception to.Rule 5(b) of Conservation Order #57 permitting the Union Oil Company of California to produce #A-15 Trading Bay State well less than 660 feet from the #A-6 Trading Bay State well should be granted because difficulty in maintaining directional control while drilling the well prevented strict compliance with Rule 5(b). NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS ORDERED that the Union Oil Company of California be permitted to produce the #A-15 Trading Bay State well in the Hemlock Oil Pool from an interval that is less than 660 feet from the producing interval in the Hemlock Oil Pool in the #A-6 Trading Bay State.well. Notice is hereby given that Union Oil Company of California has requested the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Conmittee to issue an order allowing an exception to Field Rule 5(b) of Conservation Order #57 for the subject well in which the perforated interval of the Hemlock Formation is a mini~lmm distance of 562 feet from the perforated interval of the Hemlock Formation in the #A-6 Trading Bay State well. Parties who may be aggrieved if the requested order is issued are allowed ten days from the date of this publication in which to file a protest and a request for a hearing. Marshall, Jr. Executive Secretary APPLICATION FOR AN ORDER PRESCRIBING AN EXCEPTION TO TRADING BAY FIELD RULE 5(b) OF CONSERVATION ORDER 57 FOR WELL TRADING BAY STATE A-15 Upper Cook Inlet, Alaska Gentlemen' Pursuant to the Oil and Gas Conservation Regulations and applicable Statutes of the State of Alaska, Union Oil Company of California, on behalf of itself, Marathon Oil Company, The Superior Oil Company and Texaco, Inc., presents this application to the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Committee to issue an Order allowing exception to Field Rule 5(b) of Conservation Order 57 for Trading Bay State A-15 Well. I, The area for which the applicant applies for exception to said Rule is described below' Township 9 North, Range 13 West, Seward Meridian Section 4' W½NE¼ II. Union Oil Company of California and Texaco, Inc., are the only affected operators. The distance from the Hemlock Formation perforation interval in Trading Bay State A-15 listed below is closer than 660 feet to the Hemlock Formation perforation interval from 6096 - 6370 feet in Trading Bay State A-6: Minimum Distance to Hemlock Perforations in A-6 6276 - 6520 562' The A-IS well was programmed to comply with Field Rule 5(b), however difficulty in maintaining directional control while drilling prevented strict compliance with said Rule. IV. The issuance of the Order requested by this application will permit production of the above mentioned well in a manner consistent with the intent and purpose of the Trading Bay Field Rules,Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Regulations, and Statutes of the State of AlaSka. The applicant will present evidence to support the issuance of the proposed Order upon request of the Committee. Vi Exhibit "A", attached hereto, shows the followi.ng: the leases and lands affected by this application; the location of all completed and drilling wells, including the location of all abandoned wells, on the affected lands and surrounding property; and the names of the affected and offset operators. VI. Except as specifically set out in the Order proposed by this application, operations within the Trading Bay Field shall remain subject to Conservation Order 57 and the Alaska 0il and Gas Conservation Regulations. VII. A copy of this Application has been sent to Texaco, InC. by registered mail this date. A copy of this notice, the date of mailing, and the address to which the notice was sent is attached hereto. WHEREFORE APPLICANT REQUESTS: 1.
