There were no protests to the application. FINDINGS: · · Gravel pack completions are commonly, used in many oil producing areas. The high decline rate exhibited by some of the wells in the Drill Site 2 area is inconsistent with the decline rates of other wells completed in the Prudhoe Oil Pool. Conservation Order No. 164 · It is possible that the Sadlerochit Formation is not as competent in this area of the Prudhoe Bay Field and there may be movement of the silts and fines within the forma- tion which could impair well productivity. CONCLUSION: The requested exception will not damage the reservoir, will not be wasteful and will add to the knowledge of completion tech- niques for the Prudhoe Oil Pool. NOW, THEREFORE, it is ordered that: Atlantic Richfield Company is exempted from the requirements of Rule 3(f) of Conservation Order No. 145 for the completion of the Prudhoe Bay Unit Well No. DS 2-14 well with a gravel pack type of completion Done at. Atlantic Richfield Company proposes to directionally drill this well to 9859'MD, 9080'SS to produce the Sadlerochit. The Put River formation, 120' of the Sadlerochit formation '"within the gas cap, and the bottom 150' of the Sadlerochit will be cored. 9-5/8" 47~t L-80 & S00-95 casing will be set @ 9607'MD, '8828'ss. The casing will be cemented with -+300 sks · cement (+1000' column). Below the 9-5/8" shoe the hole will be opened to 17". A 5½" slotted liner will be run to TD. The 5½" x open hole annulus will be gravel packed. Logs will be run across selected intervals. A 13-5/8" 5000 psi RSRRA BOP stack will be used. It will be pressure tested each week & operationally tested each trip. A string of 5½" 17# L-80 tubing, packer.& necessary provisions for subsurface safety equipment will be run. The packer will be set above the Sadlerochi't. A nonfreezing liquid will be left in all uncemented annuli within the permafrost interval. A 5000 psi WP wireline lubricator, tested to working pressure, will be utilized with all wireline work. The downhole safety valve will be installed & tested upon conclusion of job. 16. Notice is hereby given that the Atlantic Richfield Company has requested the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission to issue an order granting an exception to the cementing require- ments of the referenced Conservation Order for the Prudhoe Bay Unit No. DS 2-14, well, which is to be completed in the Prudhoe Oil Pool of the Prudhoe Bay Field. The .operator states that with the requested exception, the subject well could be completed with a gravel pack type completion. The operator~, further states that since there is a high decline rate for wells drilled from Drill Site 2, this type of completion should be evaluated as a means of reducing the decline rate. Parties who .may be aggrieved if the reference order is issued are allowed 10 days. from the date of this publication in which to file a protest in writing, stating in detail the nature of their aggrievement and their request for a hearing.
