HomeMy WebLinkAboutCO 178 STATE OF ALASKA ALASKA OIL AND GAS CONSERVATION cor~{ISSION 3001 Porcupine Drive Anchorage, Alaska 99501-3192 Re: THE APPLICATION OF ARCO ) ALASKA, INC. for an order ) granting an exception to ) Conservation Order No. 145 ) for the Prudhoe Bay Unit ) Well No. DS 15-3. ) Conservation Order No. 178 Prudhoe Bay Field Prudhoe Oil Pool March 22, 1982 IT APPEARING THAT: i · ARCO Alaska, Inc. submitted an application, dated March 5, 1982, requesting an exception for the subject well to Rule 3(f) of Conservation Order No. 145 which requires production casing or liner to be landed through the completion zone and cement to cover and extend to at least 500 feet above the hydrocarbon-bearing forma- tion which is potentially productive. · ARCO Alaska, Inc. proposes an open hole type of completion which they believe w. ill aid in the evaluation of completion techniques in the Sadlerochit formation. · Notice of the application was published in the Anchorage Times on March 10, 1982. 4. There were no protests to the application. FINDINGS: · · Open hole completions are commonly used in many oil producing areas. There have been other open hole completions in the Sadlerochit formation in the Prudhoe Bay Field. CONCLUSION: The requested except ion will not damage the reservoir, will not be wasteful and will add to the knowledge of completion techniques for the Prudhoe Oil Pool. Conservation Order No. 178 NOW, THEREFORE, it is ordered that: ARCO Alaska,Inc. is exempted from the requirements of Rule 3(f) of Conservation Order No. 145 and may complete the Prudhoe Bay Unit Well No. DS 15-3 with an open hole type of completion. Below the 9-5/8" shoe the hole will be under reamed to an approxi- mate total depth of 9349'MD (9020'TVD) and left open to evaluate new completion techniques in the Sadlerochit formation. Notice is hereby given that ARCO Alaska, Inc. has requested the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission to issue an order granting an exception to Rule 3(f) of Conservation Order No. 145 for the Prudhoe Bay Unit No. DS 15-3 well. Exception is requested to effect an open hole completion in order to evaluate new completion techniques in the Sadlerochit Formation. Parties who may be aggrieved if the order is issued granting the referenced exception are al lowed 10 days from the date of this publication in which to file a protest in writing, stating in detail the nature of their aggrievement and their request for a hearing. The place of filing is the Alaska Oil and Gas Conser- vation Commission, 3001 Porcupine Drive, Anchorage, Alaska 99501. If such a protest is timely filed, a hearing on the matter will be held at the above address at 9:00 AM on March 22, 1982 at which time protestants and others may be heard.
