All wells tested "OK" with the exception of 31-33WD which had to be pressured up twice. This well was on injection when I arrived and the tubing and annulus were pulsing in concert due to the close proximity of the pump and small annulus area (5 1/2" inside 7"). This required the injection to be halted, the casing was pressured up and was declining faster than allowed, We waited for approximately one hOur for the well to stabilize and repressured the well, this time the decline was within allowable limits and passed the MIT. The parts of the field I was in were very clean and presentable, the roads were well maintained and travel was easy. Chatterton, Chairman Alaska Oil & Gas Conservation Commission 3001 Porcupine Drive Anchorage, Alaska 99501 RE: Results of Pump-In Temperature Survey of SCU 43-4MD Swanson River Field Dear Mr. Chatterton: This is to submit the results of the pump-in temperature survey (PITS) that was performed on SCU 43-4MD on August 22, 1989. The test was done to prove that current injection practices (over parting pressure) are not resulting in fractures that extend through confining zones enabling disposal water injectant to enter any fresh water strata. The pump-in temperature survey was obtained with a modified procedure than was stated on the submitted sundry and previously approved by your office. The fluid injected was drilling mud with an average density of 9.6 ppg rather than cold brine. The results prove that injection is confined to the perforations with no channeling occurring (see attached survey). This well was recently worked over to clean out and reperforate the injection interval and run a new tubing string. The work was completed on August 11, 1985. On that same day the tubing-casing annulus was pressure tested to 2000 psi for 10 minutes with no loss in pressure. The tubing-casing annulus was left full, with the annular fluid being inhibited lease water and diesel. A new tubing detail, for your records, is attached. The well is currently available for injection, however, it will not be used until the surface facilities are reconnected. This work should be completed within the next month. CON,FER~ FILE: Dear Mr. Burrell: As per Mr. O. K. Gilbreth's May 14, 1971 telephonic request to Mr. B. E. Wondzell, we are furnishing the following: 1. We plan to dispose of approximately 20,000 bbls. per year of fresh water clay base mud into well SCU 243-4. 2. Based on an inspection of the Cement Bond log, we believe that the proposed disposal sand (3100'-3220') in SCU 243-4 is effectively segre- gated from the shallower fresh water sands and from the deeper potential gas sands. 3. We are sending, under separate cover, two blue- line prints of the IES log, Sonic log, Micro log, Cement Bond log, Neutron log, and Gamma Ray- Neutron log. If you have further questions concerning this proposed conversion please contact Mr. B. E. Wondzell at 279-9666. Very truly yours, C. V. RESULTS: . Formation and deposition of ice in the Christmas tree and the tubing (to depths of 67'), necessitated that the flow test be performed through the casing tubing annulus. 2. Stabilized flow rates up to 2,550 MCF/D were obtained. Production of sand and water at rates above 2., 500 MCF/D precluded obtaining stabilized flow at higher production rates. An "Open Flow Potential" was determined to be 78,000 MCF/D (See Attachment I). DETAIL: _ The procedure followed during this test is outlined as follows: 1. Static Pressure Gradient Survey: Prior to commencing the Open Flow Potential Test, static depth pressure and temperature surveys were run. The following informa- tion was obtained: (See Attachment IV & V). Pressure at mid-point perforations at 5570': 2593 PSIG 2. Flow Test: Prior to flowing the well, an Amerada Depth Pressure Bomb was hung below the bottom of the tubing at 5775' and static reservoir pres- sure of 2675 PSIG recorded. Pressure at 5570' was calculated to be 2663 PSIG. (Note difference in Static Reservoir Pressures of 2593 PSIG and 2663 PSIG at MPP of 5570'. Pressure of 2663 PSIG was used in calculations of open flow potential. ) The well was placed on production with the pressure bomb hanging at 5775'. Initial production was at the rate of approximately 1800 MCF/D g~s with slugs of water. After l½ hours of production, ice began to deposit inside the tubing and tubing head. Within one hour, the tubing pressure had declined to 100 psi due to a solid plug in- side the tubing. The casing and tubing were equalized and flow ob- tained through the casing and tubing annulus. Attachments II & III presents the results of the flow tests. 3- Static Reservoir Pressure after Production: After completing the flow portion of the test~ static pressure build up and gradient surveys were run. The following information was obtained: Pressure at mid-point of perforations: Build up curve at 5700': 2636 PSIG (Attachment VII) Build up curve calculated at MPP: 2628 PSIG Static Gradient Survey at 5570': 2573 PSIG (Attachment VIII) APPROVED: DAM: lo W.
