Form 10-403 Revised 01/2010 ~ rr /~ ~ Submit In Duplicate 0~~17~~/'1~ 730-~0 • • To: Alaska Oil & Gas Conservation Commission h From: Amanda Rebol "' p CTD Engineer Date: July 14, 2010 Re: C-37A Sundry Approval Sundry approval is requested for well C-37A. C-37 was originally drilled as a horizontal producer targeting Zone lA. The well was completed with a slotted liner, but after initial and subsequent attempts, the well could not be brought on production. The 7" intermediate liner was perforated in Z 1 B/Z 1 A and proved to be productive, making the well a vertical Z 1 B/Z 1 a producer. C-37 reached MGOR by 1995, then cycled from 1996-2001 before a coil toe-out extension was planned and completed. This coil sidetrack ran a 2-3/8" liner to cover the 7" perfs, but the liner lap test failed; a liner top packer was run to isolate the new completion and perforations. The sidetrack was a strong producer from 2001-2007, until MGOR was reached and it became a cycler. In July 2008, the liner top packer w' s pulled to allow logging access. However, service coil was unable to drift to the end of the wel~bore, reaching 10,950', which is just above the top set of perforations. Collapsed liner was suispect of causing this failed drift. After the logging attempts were completed, the liner top packer was not re-set; due to the likelihood of collapsed pipe, the intent was to commingle production with the parent vertical adperfs in the 7" liner. Production increased when the well was brought back on, but the well was cycling again within months and has continued to cycle with diminishing on-time and recharge. C-37A underwent well integrity screening in Jan/Feb 2010, passing aMIT-IA (3000psi) but failing a MTT-OA (2000psi) due to an open casing shoe. PPPOT-T and PPPOT-IC both passed. REASON FOR SIDETRACK C-37A will have zero on-time in the future because of high gas rates. Due to the collapsed 2-3/8" liner, there are no wellwork opportunities remaining. A coil sidetrack will effectively target untapped production to the NW of the parent wellbore. The proposed plan for C-37B is to drill a through tubing sidetrack with the SLB/Nordic 1 Coiled Tubing Drilling rig on or around September 14, 2010. As part of the pre-rig work, acast-iron bridge plug will be set in the 3-1/2" tubing, isolating the existing perforations. The tubing will then be punched, with a cement retainer set above the punch; the IA will then be cemented off. A monobore whipstock will be set above the retainer in the 3-1/2" tubing. The C-37B sidetrack will exit the 3-1/2" tubing and 7" liner and kick off in Zone 2, landing in Zone 1 A and drilling laterally above the HOTBSAD. The well will be completed with a cemented and perforated 2-38" liner. A schematic diagram of the proposed sidetrack is attached for reference. „L Goy eve. ITEM 1: Classification of Service Wells: Gas injection, water injection, steam injection, air injection, salt water disposal, water supply for injection, observation, injection for in-situ combustion. ITEM 5: Indicate which elevation is used as reference (where not otherwise shown) for depth measurements given in other spaces on this form and in any attachments. ITEM 16 AND 24: If this well is completed for separate production from more than one interval (multiple completion), so state in item 16, and in item 24 show the producing intervals for only the interval reported in item 27. Submit a separate form for each additional interval to be separately produced, showing the data pertinent to such interval. ITEM 21: Indicate whether from ground level (GL) or other elevation (DF, KB, etc.). ITEM 23: Attached supplemental records for this well should show the details of any multiple stage cementing and the location of the cementing tool. ITEM 27: Method of Operation: Flowing, Gas Lift, Rod Pump, Hydraulic Pump, Submersible, Water Injection, Gas Injection, Shut-In, Other-explain. ITEM 28: If no cores taken, indicate 'none'. Specific prep work, (Phase 1) and drilling, (Phase 2) operations are detailed below. Phase 1: Isolate & integrity test inner annulus, (IA). Drift tubing and tag PBTD in liner. Planned for August 1, 2001 · Drift well and tag as deep as possible with slickline. · Liquid pack and integrity test the IA. Phase 2: Drill and Complete CTD horizontal extension: Planned for August 15, 2001 · 2" coil will be used to drill a ,.-1,600 foot, 3" open hole extension, (as per attached plan) and run a solid, cemented & perforated 2-3/8" liner completion. Mud Program: · Phase 1: Seawater · Phase 2: Seawater and FIo-Pro (8.6 - 8.7 ppg) Disposal: · No annular injection on this well. · All drilling and completion fluids and all other Class II wastes will go to Grind & Inject. · All Class I wastes will go to Pad 3 for disposal. Casing Program: · 2-3/8", L-80, solid liner will be run from 9,918'md (TOL, 8,910' TVDss) to TD at approximately 13,109'md. Liner will be cemented in place with approximately'2C,bbls (annular volume plus 25% excess in OH) of 15.8ppg class G cement. "~ ~%~,~ ~%t-' ~'~.~ Well Control: · BOP diagram is attached. · Pipe rams, blind rams and the CT pack off will be pressure tested to 300 psi and to 3,500 psi. · The annular preventer will be tested to 400 psi and 2,200 psi. Directional · See attached directional plan. · Magnetic and inclination surveys will be taken every 30 ft. No gyro will be run. Logging · An MWD Gamma Ray log will be run over the open hole section. · A memory CNL will be run inside the liner. Hazards _, · The H2S concentration for C-37 has not been recently recorded. However, the maximum concentration of H2S on "C" pad is <100 ppm. - · The well path will cross one mapped fault with a throw of approximately 20 feet. The risk of lost circulation at this fault is minimal. A second mapped fault with a throw of approximately 20 feet is located about 360 feet beyond the planned TD of the well. Reservoir Pressure Reservoir pressure is estimated to be 3,300 psi at 8,800ss. Maximum surface pressure with gas (0.12 psi/ft) to surface is 2,236 psi.
