Our adopted conventions for assigning API numbers, permit numbers and well names did not specifically address expired or cancelled permits. This omission has caused some inconsistencies in the treatment of these kinds of applications for permit to drill. Operators have asked us to adopt formal procedures for this class of permit application in order to prevent future database disparities. If a permit expires or is cancelled by an operator, the permit number of the subject permit will remain unchanged. The API number and in some instances the well name reflect the number of preexisting redrills and or multilaterals in a well. In order to prevent confusing a cancelled or expired permit with an active well or multilateral these case sensitive well identifiers will be changed for expired and cancelled applications for permits to drill. The API number for this cancelled or expired permit is modified so the eleven and twelfth digits is 95. The well name for a cancelled or expired permit is modified with an appended xx. These procedures are an addendum to the API numbering methods described in AOGCC staff memorandum "Multi-lateral (wellbore segment) Drilling Permit Procedures, revised December 29, 1995. AOGCC database has been changed to reflect these changes to this permit. CANCELED PERMITS ARE RELEASABLE 2 years from the date on the letter received from the operator requesting the permit canceled. I believe you have recently received several e-mails indicating that the plans have been changed and it has been decided to drill a lateral hole and leave the original hole intact, producing from both legs. A revised Permit to Drill was submitted with these changes and a new well name given of P-18L1. This would, of course, require changing the API Number. The coil sidetrack, P-18a, will exit the 5 1/2" liner ~. in the Shublik formation and target Zone 4B. P-18a will be completed with a combination solid/slotted 27/8"-- liner. Because of gas in the Sag River, perfs will be shot in the upper Shublik in preparation for a cement squeeze to improve isolation. These new perfs will be produced for clean up prior to the cement squeeze. Existing Zone 4 perfs will be isolated with an inflatable bridge plug set in the 5 %" liner". A mechanical whipstock will be set prior to cement squeezing the Shublik perfs. Three mapped faults will be crossed in this sidetrack. If any of these faults prove to be conductive then the/' sidetrack will be plugged back to the conductive fault to permit the shortened sidetrack to be completed wiUi a slotted liner. An open hole resistivity log will be run. Phase 1: Prep work. Planned for Dec. 10-15,2001. 1. Drift tubing and liner with dummy whipstock. 2. Run casing caliper over whipstock interval. 3. Perforate Shublik from 10,930-10,940 (8767ss-8775ss), 6 SPF, in preparation for cement sqz. Flow for several days to clean up ahead of squeeze. Phase 2: Prep work. Planned for Jan. 1-15,2002. 4. Dummy off all GLM's and perform IA MIT to 2500 psi. 5. Use E-line to set an IBP at approx. 11 ,050'MD (8859ss). 6. Use E-line to set a mechanical whipstock at approx. 10,950'MD (8783ss). 7. Use service coil to cement squeeze Shublik perfs with minimum 15 bbls cement. 8. Window will be milled with drilling coil. .
