GOVERNOR -ø-~~ ~ ~ Homer l Bur¡eií Director STATISTICAL REPORT FOR THE YEAR 1969 ",...".~ ,,-~ ,-........j,-,.~- rø;,.d 1969 Statistical Report This represents a first attempt to publish a separate statistical report on oil and gas activity. There are many statistics covering operations of this industry, and any report must necessarily be incomplete. An attempt has been made to publish exploration and production statistics most often requested by the public. The users of the report are invited to submit suggestions for improvement and data to be included in the future. It will be noted that individual well gas and water production figures are incomplete. Individual weIll data are shown where available, and pool figures are shown when individual well figures are not available. Work is underway to tabulate oil, gas, and water production by wells by pools by years, and this information should be available for publication next year. Annual and cumulative production figures are subject to change as operators revise reports for past production. The figures included in this report incorporate all changes filed through May 1, 1970, which affect prior years' production. On October 18, 1969, Harathon Oil Company completed the Trading Bay Unit well No. D-21 from their Dolly Varden Platform in the Cook Inlet. This well was drilled to a total measured depth of 17,010', which is a true vertical depth of 10,528'. The deviated clo~ure is 12,569' from the surface location to the bottom hole location, which apparently is the latest world record. The producing interval is from the Hemlock formation, from 15,945' to 16,845'. Personnel of the local directional survey companies have informed the operator that this well holds the distinction of being a world record holder for any well drilled and/or producing, with the bottom of the well and the producing interval deviated over 2 1/3 miles horizontally from the surface location of the well. The operator thinks that the drilling time of 67 days from spud-in to total depth may also be a record forad:,i.rectionally drilled well of this depth. The drill hole angle was built up from vertical at approximately 800' to 50° at 2500', and main- tained at an angle of from 47° to 57.75° until the bottom hole objective was reached at 17,010'. Other Field High1ight~: (1) This field produced 43.2% of total state oil production in December 1969. (2) Average productivity in December 1969 was 2421.6 BOPD per well. (3) As of the end of December 1969 there had been 39 oil wells completed in 3 oil pools and 3 gas wells in the Hiddle Kenai Gas Pool. (4) Three offshore platforms have been installed. (5) All producing wells have been directiona1ly drilled. (6) The entire field is operated as a Unit. 31 C 24.Z3~W ~': ~~J,4-23 It II '-,... ~SHELL C PLA- FORM ..n""';"''''''''''''''J/. Because of the importance of this field to both the state and the nation, the map that accompanies this report has been updated to May 1, 1970. This has been done to show the areas where field rules apply for the three defined oil pools and to show the latest drilling activity in the field and the near vicinity. The size of the field is of interest because it covers such a large area. The pool areas shown on the map are based on the best available information as of November, 1969, and are subject to change. Bearing in mind that the three pools cover a great deal of the same area and that a single well can penetrate more than one pool, the following statistics indicate the pool and field limits: Prudhoe Bay Kuparuk River Oil Pool Prudhoe Bay Sadlerochit Oil Pool Prudhoe Bay Lisburne Oil Pool Prudhoe Bay Field 200 square miles t 575 square miles ž 280 square miles ž 670 square miles t The 670 square miles is more than 428,000 acres. 41 ~"",-",=-=",~"" ,-,,,,",-_",-,T=''''''~~~'''''''~'''''~.c'=~-,..,,..,,.":~C''~:~~ -"'.n;~="-~----"'" -=-~-..."".~ ~---~~ ",,--==~.o~.-,~=-,- 4/ ~ / Ii N ST ATE G DIY.
