Source potential (pyrolysis PlP2 and Total Organic Carbon) has been detennined on mudstone and limestone samples from the five wells. Thennal maturity by vitrinite reflectance has been detennined on limited samples from each of the wells. A number of the richer samples from each of the five wells have been solvent extracted to attempt to characterise the hydrocarbon extracts 'by total soluble extract (TSE) GC, high resolution GC-MS and stable carbon isotope analysis of the kerogen and total soluble fractions. Additionally, two oil shows in sandstones at 5700ft and 5800ft from South HalTison Bay-l have been extracted, and the soluble hydrocarbons characterised by total soluble extract (TSE) GC, high resolution GC-MS and TSE stable carbon isotopes. The hydrocarbon recoveries for the two oil shows were very low, consequently the TSE GC chromatograms are poor. The chromatograms display an unresolved 'hump' that is probably column. bleed rather than a characteristic of the sample.
