This letter is to notice and advise YOU that Intrepid Alaskan t~nide Cnrpnratinn has flied an application to the Alaska Oil a,nd Gas Conservation Commission to obtain exceptions to the well spacing provisions of its Article 20 AAC 25.055 regulations in accordance with 20 AAC 25.Q5a (b) regulation to Create AS 31,Q5.100 drilling unit properties and AS 31.05.114 unit properties to be allowed to explore, capture and market oil and gas from beneath the 160 acre Birdsall Prospect .The 160 acre Birdsall Prospect is located in west half of the west half of Section 3, Township i 7 North ,Range 2 West; Seward Meridian . The State of Alaska requires that Alaskan Crude Corporation send notice of this application to obtain an exception to the well spacing provisions of Article 20 AAC 25 .455 regulations to ail owners and operators of governmental quarter sections directly and diagonally offsetting the quarter section where a E3irdsell Prospect oil well is to be located or to all owners and operators of governmental sections directly ar diagonally offsetting the section where a Birdsall Prospect gas wall is to be located . The 160 acres Birdsall Prospect IS LOCATED in the west one-half portion of thQ northwest quarter and the west one-half portion of the southwest quarter of Section 3, Township 17 North, Range 2 West, Seward Meridian and bath portions Contain the same amount of acreage as a single 160 acre governmental quarter section However, the Slydsell Prospect does not occupy a single governmental quarter section as required by Alaska Qil and Gas Conservation Commission 20 AAC 26 .055 (a} (1} reg~slatian for an A$ 31.OS.iQO oil drilling unit property to exist and contains less than a single 640 acres section required for a AS 31.05.100 gas drilling unit property to exist,as required lay Alaska oil and Gas Conservation Commission's 20 AAC 25.005(x)(2) regulation. The Birdsall Prospect is believed to overlay separate producible ail and gas reservoirs. To economically capture any oil or gas encountered from beneath the 160 acre Birdsall Prospect it is necessary that Alaskan Crude Corporation be allowed the option to have exceptions to Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation C®mmissican's 20 AAC 25 . 055(x)(1) and (a)(2) regulations in order to be allowed open well spacing for AS 31.QS.100.drilling units and AS 31.05.110 units #o drill, produce and market the production from as many wells at any location on the Birdsall Prospect as Alaskan Crude Corporation deems necessary . The wildcat Pittman well was drilled by Union Qil in 1961 approximately 1,000' north of the northwest corner of the Birdsall Prospect. The well logs indicate tha# the wildcat Pittman well encountered significant oil and gas shows through out its 6,13fi fQet wall bore. The Alaska pivision of Natural Resources (ONR} drilled a test wall Qproximately three miles southeast from the E3irdsell Prospect to test various intervals in and about the local coal seams far gas production potential from the surtace to a depth of 1,500 feet . The DNR's tests from this well indicated that some of the intervals in and about the coal scams were found to have the potential of producing significant commercial quantities of gas.
