The well was a single completion, A -only producer from 1982 -1988. In 1988 the C sand was perforated and the well became and A/C comingled producer. By mid -1997 the WC had increased to 97% (due to the C sand) and so the C sand was cement isolated and the A sand re- perfed. A workover was performed in 2007 to mechanically isolate the C sand via a straddle packer completion (after the C sand cement isolation was suspected to have failed). Thus, the upper completion consists of a straddle packer completion with five gas lift mandrels, a 2.75" D nipple in the tubing tail, and a 2.875" DS nipple at -482'. Due to a casing leak, there is a 5" scab liner from the surface to the upper packer. Prior to the arrival of the CTD rig, the existing A -sand perforations in the 1 E -12 completion will be plugged and abandoned with cement. The two casing exits on this well will be via whipstocks set in a 2.80" cement pilot hole. A Sundry application was submitted on January 13, 2010, for the cement work to be completed pre -rig. Operational Outline Pre -Rig Work Remaining 1. Tag fill and obtain a SBHP survey 2. Shoot holes in tubing tail to put cement across the tail 3. All H monitoring equipment will be operational while drilling the 1E-12 laterals. • Shale stability is a concern while crossing the A4 /A5 interface as well as at the landing points in the A3. . • WOB limitations are a concern and the agitator is expected to be used on the L2 and L2 -01 laterals. • There is a fault crossing in both build sections which could throw sand against shale. Managed Pressure Drilling Managed pressure drilling (MPD) techniques will be employed to provide constant bottom hole pressure by using 8.6 ppg drilling fluid in combination with annular friction losses and applied surface pressure. Constant BHP will be utilized to reduce pressure fluctuations to help with hole stability. Applying annular friction and choke pressure also allows for the use of less expensive drilling fluid and minimizes fluid losses and /or fracturing at the end of the long well bores. A hydraulic choke for regulating surface pressure is located between the BOPE choke manifold and the mud pits, and will be independent of the BOPE choke. Using this technique will require deployment of the BHA with trapped wellhead pressure. Pressure deployment of the 2%" BHA will be accomplished utilizing the 2%" pipe rams and slip rams. The well will be loaded with overbalanced fluid prior to running the completions. Operating parameters and fluid densities will be adjusted based on real -time bottom hole pressure measurements while drilling and shale behavior. The target MPD ECD is 11.8 ppg. The reservoir pressure at the first KOP is estimated to be 2,563 psi (7226' MD/ 6337' TVD). Reservoir Pressure Wells 1E-15 and 1E-08 are the primary injection wells that support 1E-12. BOX 100360 ANCHORAGE, ALASKA 99510 -0360 January 12, 2010 Commissioner- State of Alaska Alaska Oil & Gas Conservation Commission 333 West 7th Avenue Suite 100 Anchorage, Alaska 99501 Dear Commissioner: ConocoPhillips Alaska, Inc. hereby submits permit to drill applications for four lateral sidetracks out of Kuparuk Well 1E-12 (PTD# 182 -060) using the coiled tubing drilling rig, Nabors CDR2 -AC. Work is scheduled to begin on 1E-12 as early as late February 2010. The CTD objective is to drill four A -sand lateral sidetracks (1E-12 A, 1E-12 AL1, 1E-12 AL2, and 1E-12 AL2 -01). The original wellbore perforations will be plugged and abandoned with cement prior to CTD operations (Sundry application is attached). Attached to this application are the following documents that explain the proposed job operations: — Permit to Drill Application Forms for 1 E -12 A, 1E-12 AL1, 1E-12 AL2, 1E-12 AL2 -01 — Proposed Schematic — BOP Schematic — Detailed Summary of Operations — Directional Plans — Sundry application If you have any questions or require additional information please contact me at my office 907 - 263 -4093. Sincerely, • Jill L• g Coiled Tubing Drilling Eng eer 1110 • Permit to Drill Summary of Operations KRU 1E-12 A 1E-12 AL1, 1E-12 AL2 and 1E-12 AL2 -01 Coiled Tubing Drilling Well History: Well 1E-12 is an A -sand producing, straddle completion well equipped with 3 -1/2" tubing (from surface to 7157' MD and a 7" production liner (from surface to 7510' MD). The well was a single completion, A -only producer from 1982 -1988. In 1988 the C sand was perforated and the well became and NC comingled producer. By mid -1997 the WC had increased to 97% (due to the C sand) and so the C sand was cement isolated and the A sand re- perfed. A workover was performed in 2007 to mechanically isolate the C sand via a straddle packer completion. Thus, the upper completion consists of a straddle packer completion with five gas lift mandrels, a 2.75" D nipple in the tubing tail, and a 2.875" DS nipple at -482'. Due to a casing leak, there is a 5" scab liner from the surface to the upper packer. Prior to the arrival of the CTD rig, the existing A -sand perforations in the 1E-12 completion will be plugged and abandoned with cement. The two casing exits on this well will be via whipstocks set in a 2.80" cement pilot hole. A Sundry application is attached for the cement work to be completed pre -rig. Operational Outline Pre -Rig Work Remaining 1. Tag fill and obtain a SBHP survey 2. Shoot holes in tubing tail to put cement across the tail 3. The highest H reading on the 1E pad in 2009 was 130 ppm on well 1E-24A. All H monitoring equipment will be operational while drilling the 1E-12 laterals. • Shale stability is a concern while crossing the A4 /A5 interface as well as at the landing points in the A3.
