The JC Marthens rig moved onto location at 7:00 AM. Seas choppy. Started
jacking up at slack tide.
On location at 8:30 AM 9-13-68. Jacked down legs 30' of penetration. Jacked
UP barge and raised mast. Leveled.up barge. Picked up 3 drill collars.
Measured KB to mud line - 96.95'. Picked. up 30" 1/2" wall 157.53# Grade "B"
line pipe as follows:
Shoe Joint 41.85'
I.Pup Joint 3.40'
Connector 2.60'
Joint 42.12'
Joint 42.10'
Total 132.07'
Picked up hammer and drive joint and drove 30" from 96.95' KB to 132.O7' KB,
35.12' of. penetration. 30" started driving at 100 blows per foot and ended at
300 blows per ft. Top of c_o.Q.n?~.~eK._is 11.73' 'aboVe mud line. OCT clamp is
6.73' above mud line. Laid down hammer'-and drive joint. Nippleld up on 30".
Picked up drill collars to spud.
TD 750' - Finished nippling up on 30" and spudded at 10:30 AM 9-14-68. Drilled
17-1/2" hole from zero to 750'. Picked up hole opener and opened 17-1/2"
hole to 26" from zero to 720'. Circulated hole and made up 20" x 30" casing
hanger (OBS equipment).
TD 750' - Opened 17-1/2" hole to 26" from 720' to 730'. Circulated hole clean.
Made wiper trip. Made up OBS hanger and adapter on cat walk. Rigged up and
ran 4 joints 20" casing, casing hit something solid at 132', indicated shoe
on 30" casing to be crimped on bottom. Pulled 4 joints of 20" out of hole.
Found shoulder of collar on shoe joint to be hitting shoe on 30". Had welder
taper the collars on bottom 3 joints and welded straps on next 4 joints. Ran
17 joints 20", H40, 94# Range 3 Vitco thread casing plus OBS equipment. Had
to work 20" casing through shoe of 30", landed 20" casing on OBS hanger with
Shoe at 729' KB. Rigged. up 20" swedge, circulated 1-l/2 hours, cemented 20"
casing with 1300 sacks Class "G" mi.xed with Inlet water with 2% CACL2 in last
650 sacks, mixing time 45 minutes. Displaced cement with 650 barrels Inlet
water, left 20' of cement in casing, float held OK. Had good'circulation
throughout job with cement to surface. Cement in ptace at 2:00 AM 9-16-68.
Rotated 20" 2-I/2 turns to the right and opened port in OBS landing adppter,
washed cement out of casing through ports on landing adapter. Nippled up
20" casing.

TD 750'-- Cut off 30" casing and 20" casing. Welded OCT C-29-L casinghead on
20" casing, Tested weld with 1000 psig, O.K. Installed 20".shaffer 3000//,
slngle gate, 20" - 2000# hydril. Picked up 6 - 7-5/8'" drill collars. Ran in
hole, tagged cement in casing at 7]0'. Hydril-would not close due to cement
being inside of'unit, Cleaned hydril and closed on drill pipe. Pressured
up on hydril and casing to 500// with water. Pressure bled off to 400# in ]5
minutes. Had communication between 20" and 30" casing. Pulled out of hole.
Nippled down to pull 2'0" OCT adapter ,and check ports.
TD 750' - Cut bradenhead off of 20" casing string. Waited on casing tools from
dock. Welded a joint of 20"-casing onto 20" casing string. Installed 20"
swedge in casing. Turned 20" casing 1/2 turn to right and then turned 3/4
turn to left. Pressure tested 20" with 500# for 20 minutes, pressure decreased
to 400#. Found leak in 20'l Vetco coupling, 12" below top of 30" casing. Cut
30" casing off below Vetco coupling and welded Vetco coupling. Pressure tested
20" casing with 600// for 30 minutes, held OK. Cut off 20" casing and welded
on 20" bradenhead. Installed blowout preventer equipment.
TD 3110' - Completed nippling up. Tested BOP and casing to 500# for 15 minutes, OK.
Drilled cement from 710' to. 727'. Drilled shoe from 727' to'729'.. Drilled
12-1/4" hole from 750' to 3110'.
TD 4847' - Drilled and surVeyed 12-1/4" hole. Drilled from 4670' to 4837'. Cir-
culated for 1-1/2 hours. Pulled out of hole and rigged up Schlumberger. Ran
· in hole with Dual Induction Log. 'Would not go below 3398'. Rigged down
Schlumberger and ran in hole with bit, worked through tight hole from 3305' to
4500'. Ran to 4837' and drilled to 4847'. Circulated 1-3/4 hrs. Made wiper
trip and circulated 2-1/2 hours. Pulled out of hole and rigged up Schlumberger.
Ran Dual Induction Log. Schlumberger TD 4838'.

TD 4847' - Schlumberger ran Dual Induction Log-[ bottom hole compensated Sonic log,
High Resolution Dipmeter log, Gamma Ray Density Log, and sidewall Neutron log
from TD to surface casing. Rigged down Schlumberger at 7:30' PM 9-2]-68. Laid
down 10 stands drill pipe. Ran in hole with 17-I/2" hole opener and opened
12-1/4" hole ~o 17-1/2" from 750' to 2033'. HECEIVED

TD 4847' - Opened 12-1/4" hole to 17-I/2" fr~Om 2033' ;~t,o 3682' with trips for hate
openers at 2388' and 3123'.
TD 48/47'- Opened 12-1/4" hole from 3682' to_4365' with trip for new hole opener at
420/4', completed opening 17-1/2" hole at 11:30 PH 9-23-68. Circulated for one
'.hour. Made wiper trip to 650'. Reran to 4365', ci-rculated and conditioned
mud for 2-1/4 hours. Spotted high viscosity mud and 20 sacks of nut i31ug.
Pulled out of hole. Rigged up to run 13-3/8" casing.
TD 418/47! - Ran 105 joints 13-3/8" ca~ing set from 2/4.'02 to /4350.17' effective
length /4321.19, Baker liodel "G" float shoe. at /4350.17', Baker collar at /4304',
Halliburton DV stage collar at 2346', bottom /4 joints of casing centralized,
13-3/8" 'OCT fluted OBS hanger at 125.50',
13-3/8" fluted hanger at 12/4.80', landing sub andadapter, at 121.12". Rigged
.up Halliburton and cemented 13-3/8" first stage wi~ch 1200 sacks Class "G"
cement with 6~o gel, tailed in with 500 sks Class "G" and.2% CACL2. Had 3/4
r. eturns throughout displacement. Final cementing p~ressure 1400//, bumped plug
with 2000// at 3:00 All 9-25-68. Dropped DV tool opening bomb and opened DV tool
wlth 800// pressure. Pumped lO bbls mud at 500// pressure, unable to establish
circulation. Shut in casing with 350// pressure, fluid level in 13-3/8 annulus
standing at surface throughout first stage.

tool at 500// pressure at rate of 1.6 bbls per minute. F~igged up Schlumberger

DV tool as follows. Fair cement from 23.46' to 2048', contaminated cement
up to 1700' bonding above DV tool very pOor. NipPl,ed down 20" BOP. Cut'off
13-3/8" casing. Installed 13-3/8" slips and pack o~f, 20" by 13-3/8" pack off
support bushing. Installed 20" 2000// by 14" 5OOO//"spool and 14" 5000// by
14" 5000// spool, tested 20" x 13-3/8 casing head hO~sing with 8OO//, held OK.

TD 5420' - Completed nippling up 13-3/8" casing. Picked up. test pmug and tested
BOPE with 3000# for 15 minutes, OK. Ran in hole with drilling assembly to
DV Collar at 2346', closed DV collar. Tested DV collar and casing with
2000# for 20 minutes, held OK. Drilled DV collar and plug Ran in hole
and drilled float collar at 4304'. Found cement in shoe at 4340'. Tested
casing to 1500# for 20 minutes, held OK. Drilled cement and shoe at 4350'.
Cleaned out from 4350' to'4847.'. Drilled 12-I/4" hole from 4847' to $420'.
TD 6750' - Drilled and surveyed 12-I/4" hole. Pulled out of hole for new bit.
Had tight hole from 6600' to 5000', picked up 3 stabilizers. 'Twisted pin
off drill collar in'float sub. Ran in hole to 5440r, reamed to 5590',
stabilizers hanging up. Pulled out of hole and lald stabilizers down. Ran
In hole and 'reamed from 6650' to 6708'.
TO 7379' - Drilled 12-1/4" hole from 6750' to 7379'. p'ilcked up 9 - 7" drill
collars, bottom hole reamer and 4 - 12-1/4 stabil izers and went in hole.
TD 7660' - Ran in hole w;th drilling assembly and 12-1/4'" bit. Hit tight hole
at 5029'. Reamed 12-1/4" hole from 5029' to 7379'. Drilled 12-I/4':' hole
from 7379' to 7505'. Lost pump pressure. Pulled out of hole, found 7" drill
collar box washed out. Changed out 2 - 7" drill collars. Ran in 'hole with
drilling assembly. Did not encounter any tight hole.
TD 9465' - Drilled and surveyed 12-1/4" hole. Pulled out of hole. 'PUlled wear
bushing and ran test plug. Tested BOP and hydri1 to 2500#, OK. Pulled test
plug, left outer skirt off of test plug in casing spool, unable to retrieve
skirt on test plug. Picked up BOP's, removed skirt from casing head and
nippled up BOP's. Ran test plug and tested BOP's-to 2500#, OK. Ran in hole
and drilled 12-1/4" hole from 9312' to 9465'.
TD 10,165' - Drilled 12-1/4" hole from 9880' to 9951'. Pulled out of hole for
new bit. Installed wear bushing and replaced swivel. Laid down 6 - 7" drill
collars. Ran in hole and drilled from 9951' to 10,165"
TD I1,589' - Drilled 12-I/4" hole. Circulated and conditioned hole 2 hours. Made
wiper trip to 9700'. Had tight hole from 11,589 to 11,300'. Reamed from 11,505'
to 11,589'. .
TD 11,589' - Circulated and conditioned hole for logs 2-1/2 hours. Strapped drill
pipe out of hole. No correction. Rigged up .Schlumberger and ran DIL, Sonic,
Density and SNP log from 4832' to I1,589'. Schlumberger TD 11,589'.. Ran
Dipmeter log.
TD I1,624' - Ran dipmeter log from 3842' to 11,589'. Took 24 sidewall Samples,
recovered 18. Rigged down Schlumberger. Strung up lO lines, laid down 9
drill collars, 'ran in hole and drilled 12-1/4" hole from 11,589' to 11,624'.
Pulled'out of hole to run 9'5/8" casing.

TD 11,624' - Rigged up to run 9-5/8" casing. Ran 275 its 9-5/8'l casing, landed
· shoe at 11,574' KB, float collar at 11,530 KB, DY collar at 7255' KB, OBS
hanger at 124.80', OBS landing sub and adapter at 119.52' 'KB, centralized
bo~om 5 its and 1 jt above and below DV collar.' Circulated 1-1/2 hours.
Cemented 1st stage with 400 sks Class G with 6% gel and 1250 sks Class G
with 0.4% HR7 mixed with fresh water, mixing time one hour. Displaced cement
with rig pump, bumped plug with 2200#, float held OK. Good mud returns
throughout 1st stage. Plug down at 7:30 AM 10-17-68. Opened DV tool to
cement 2nd stage.
TD 11,624' - Opened OV tool and circulated for l-l/2 hours. No cement to surface.
Cemented 2nd'stage with 1400 sks Class "G" mixed with fresh water, mixing time
one hour. Displaced cement with 540 bbls mUd with rig pump. Bumped plug and
closed DV tool with 2700#. Job completed at 11:30 AM 10-17-68. Lost returns
on last 60 bbls of displacement. Picked up BOP, set 9-5/8 slips and pack off,
tested with 2500#, OK. Cut off and nippled up on 9-5/8" casing. Cleaned mud
system, started mixing invermul mud. Rigged up to catch, cuttings before
drilling with invermul mud.
PBTD 11,528' - Laid down 129 joints of drill pipe and 15 drill collars, picked
up 17 - 7" drill collars, installed drain system under rig floor, mixed 600
bbls of invermul mud. Installed Baroid double deck shal~ shaker, installed
temporary deck section under shal'e shaker modifying mud system. Prepared to
run in hole with drilling assembly. ..
TD 11,624' - Tested BOPE and casing with 2500// for 30 minutes, held oK. Ran ~n
hole with drilling assembly. Picked up 110 joints of 4-1/2" drill pipe. Drilled
DV tool at 7253' at 7:30 PM 10-19-68. Tested casing, to 2500// for 30 minutes,
held oK. Continued in hole, picked up 30 joints of Grade G drill pipe. Tagged
cement at 10,665', drilled contaminated cement to 11,000'. Drilled hard cement
from 11,000', to 11,150' with sea water for circulation, mixed 350 bbls of
Invermul mud. Continucd working on temporary deck under shale shaker.

bridge and reamed from 12,290' to 12,350'. Drilled 8-1/2'[ hole from 12,350'
to 12,508'. Had trouble making connections from tight hole. Raised mud
weight to 10// and viscosity to 45 while drilling, attempted to pull out of
hole for new bit, unable to pull pipe dUe to tight hole, circulated and
conditioned mud 4-3/4 hours, raised mud weight to 10.5 and viscosity to 55,
started pulling pipe single at a time with Kelly and pump On hole from
12,508' to 12,260', set Kelly back, tight hole continued to 11,790'.
TD 12,539' - Completed pulling out of hole. Laid down 30 joints Grade E drill
pipe, 4 stabilizers, 6 - 7'l drill collars, picked up 36 joints grade G drill
pipe. Ran in hole to bridge at I1,874', unable to work through bridge due
to sloughing hole, circulated and conditioned mud 3-1/2'hours raising weight
to 11.3// per gallon and viscos!ty to 60. Reamed from 11,874' to 11,950' with
difficulty keeping hole open, reamed from 11,950' to 12,508' with less trouble,
formation sloughing appears .to be improving. Drilled 8-1/2" hole from 12,508'
to 12,539'.
TD 12,620' - Drilled 8-1/2" hole from 12,539' to 12,620'. Had difficulty maki-ng
· connections due to sloughtng hole. Raised mud weight to' ll.8///gallon. Unable
to pull out of hole - pipe sticking while pulling up without pumps. Circulated
and conditioned mud to raise weight to 12.5#/gallon. Hole conditions improved.
Started out of hole - pipe pulled hard to 12,300'. Pulled free to 11,574'.
Pulled out of hole.
TD 12,620' - Ran in hole with Bit //29. Formation started taking fluid while going
In the hole at 8600'. Pulled out of hole to 5500', broke circulation and
conditioned mud reducing viscosity and gel strengths, not losing any mud.
Ran in hole to 8600', broke circulation and conditioned mud with full returns.
Ran in hole to 12,350', hit bridge, reamed to 12,620', hole condition improving.
Drilled at 12,620' with full returns. Lost a total of 130 bbls of mud.
TD 12,776' - Drilled 8-1/2" hole from 12,620' to 12,722I, started losing mud,
circulated and conditioned mud reducing weight from 12.5 to 12.1# adding loss
circulation material. Lost Approximately 180-bbls of mud. Drilled from 12,772'
to 12,776'.with full returns, pulling out of hole for new bit. Pulled tight
from 12,600' to 12,420'. Pulled out of hole.
TD 12,900' - Ran in hole with Bit #30, broke circulation aC 8500'. Hit bridge
at'12,560". Reamed from 12,560' to 12,565 (5'). Drilled 8-1/2" hole from
12,776 to 12,900'. Lost approximately 50 bbls of mud at 12,822'.
TD 13,025' - Drilled 8-1/2" hole from 12,900' to 12,966'. Pulled out of hole for
new bi~. Pipe pulled tight at 12,660', lald d~wn 14 - 7" DC's. Picked up
12 - 6-1/4" spiral DCs; Ran in hole with Bit #31, washed 40' to bottom, no
bridges in hole, drilled 8-1/2" hole from 12,966' to 13,025'.
TD 13,177' - Drilled 8-1/2" hole from 1'3,025' to 13,177'. Tripped for bit at
13,117', hole :ight on trip at 13,117' to 12,745'. Reamed and washed back to

Circulated through 9-5/8" perforations for 4 hours trying to unthaw 13-3/8 x
20"~ annulus, unable to break clrculatlon with 850#.. Pulled out of hole with
drill pipe. Ran in hole with Halliburton EZ SV cement retainer on drill pipe,
set retainer at 6~7', stung into retainer with drill pipe. Retai'ner would not
hold. Pulled out of hole. Set Halliburton EZ SV cement retainer at 666',
retainer would not hold. Pulled drill pipe to 280", closed pipe rams, pumped.
into formation at 6 barrels per minute at 1000#. Pumped 190 sacks Class
cement down drill pipe. Pressure increased to 2500# with 50 sks cement into
formation. Job completed at .6:00 PM 11'2/4-68, top of cement at 375'. Pulled
out of hole, laid down 12 its ~-1/2" drill pipe, nippled down BOP, removed
IO"" series 1500 spool, welded lift nipple on 9-5/8"~ casing, backed out of
OBS landing sub adapter, laid dOwn 9-5/8" riser. Cut off 20" bradenhead flange.
PBTD 375' - Completed cutting off 20" well-head. Rigged up on 13-3/8" casing,
broke landing sub and adapter, laid down 13-3/8" marine riser. Installed
1373/8" abandonment cap with back pressure valve in .place at 118.62'. Rigged
up on 20" casing, unable to break .landi.ng.sub adapter, ran casing cutter and
cut 20" casing Ill.4', laid down 20" marine riser., installed 20" mud cap at
I!1'. Rigged up on 30" casing and released hydraulic cementer, laid down
30" marine riser, started rigging down at 6:30 PM 11-25-68. .Restrung blocks
to 8 lines. Laid down rat hole and mouse hole. Cleaned mud tanks and tied
down drill pipe. Laid down derrick at 5:00 AM 11-26-68 and started jacking
down barge.

Pressure increased to 2500 psi; with .50 sacks cement into formation. Left
cement plug on top of retainer inside 9-5/8" casing from 666' to 375',
top of plug.

Removed risers and abandoned at 21.7' below Inlet floor-with OCT permanent
plug on top of 13-3/8" casing, with steel cap over 20" casing, at 14.48'
below Inlet floor. Completed at 5:00 a.m. on 11-26-68. Jacked down barge
and released rig at lO'lO a.m. on 11-27-68.

prepared to run casing. Ran 17 joints 20" H40, 94 lb Range 3 Vitco thread
casing plus OBS .equipment, landed'on OBS Hanger with shoe at 729' KB,
circulated and cemented 20" casing with 1300 sacks Class G mixed with Inlet
water with 2% CaC12 in last 650 sacks, displaced cement with 650 bbls Inlet
water, float held OK, had good circulation throughout jobwith cement to
surface. Pressure tested 20" casing with 600 lb, held OK, cut off 20"
casing and welded on 20" Bradenhead, installed blowout preventer equipment
and nippled up. Tested BOP and casing to 500 psi for 15 min, held OK.
Drilled cement from 710 to 727', drilled shoe from 727' to 729'. Drilled
12-1/4" hole from 750' to 3110'.
