Friday. June 29, 1990: I traveled to Shell Platform C for the
purpose of witnessing the plug set above the top perfS and the liner
lap. The well had been plugged according to approved procedures, and
Fw&s at Step 8 when I arrived on the platform at 6:00pm.
A cement retainer was set at 9782' by 7:30pm, and an attempt to break
down the perfS@ 4000 psi failed. (Per R.V. Wells, they had tried to
break down these perfs @ 5&00 psi for almost a day and couldn't do
it.) There was a leak @ 4000 psi, probably around retainer, and a
small flow from the 9 5/8 annulus. Shell unstrung and pressured
casing to 3000 psi for 30 minutes with no pressure loss. R.V. wanted
to consider plugging good and continue abandonment up hole, but I
requested 150' plug set on top of the retainer and tagged to insure
it set up. Cement displaced about lO:30pm.
On 6/30/90 at 7:00am the plug was tagged with 20,000 psi at 9636',
and the 9 5/8 casing pressure tested at 3000 psi with about a 50 psi
loss in 30 minutes.
In sU1DD1élry, I witnessed the cement plug set from 9636' to the
retainer at 9978' tagged with 20,000 Ibs.

9. ND BOP, remove CIW wellhead, cut away braidelfhlåW~Or¡q¡& NU 20" riser and
10" diverter system. Function test diverter system. Give AOGCC 24 hours
notice prior to installing diverter system.
10. GIH with 9-5/8" casing cutter and cut 9-5/8" 40# N-80 BTC casing at
1700'. Lay down recovered casing.
11. Clean out 13-3/8" casing to the 9-5/8" casing stub with a 12-1/4" bit and
scraper.
12. GIH with 13-3/8" cement retainer and set at 1675'. Sting into retainer
and establish injection rate. With 3.5" DP just above retainer, pump 30
bbls fresh water spacer and begin mixing and pumping 120 sx Class "G" +
2% CaC12. When 20 bbls of water have been circulated out the end of the
DP, sting into the retainer and pump 10 bbls of water and 60 sx of cement
below the retainer and into the formation at the 13-3/8" casing shoe (60
sx = 160 lineal feet below retainer in the annular space). Pick up out
of retainer and spot the remaining 60 sx of cement on top of retainer.
The TOC should be at 1594'±. This plug satisfies the requirements of
20 MC 25.105{h){2){B).
NOTE: Even if unable to squeeze below retainer, the plug still satisfies o~
the requirements of 20 MC 25.105{h){2){C).
13. Pullout 10 stands and reverse out. Pressure test casing and plug to
2000 psi (burst of 13-3/8" 61# J-55 casing is 3090 psi) to satisfy the
requirements of 20 MC 25.105{1). POOH. It is not necessary to tag the
TOC if a successful pressure test is conducted.
14. GIH with 13-3/8" bridge plug and set at 600'.
,--
15. GIH with 5" DP assembly and displace with fresh water (well volume =
90 bbls). Add gel as required in anticipation of metal munching
operations.
16. Remove the 13-3/8" 61# J-55 BTC casing to at least 450' using the
Tri-State metal muncher.
------------
17. With the 3-1/2" DP stinger at 600', spot a balanced cement plug across
the 13-3/8" casing stub using densified Class "G" + 2% CaC12 + CFR-3
(16.7 ppg, 4.0 gal/sk, 1.02 cf/sk). Design for a TOC at 350' (assuming
an open hole diameter of 20", this will require 350 sx of cement). This
plug satisfies the requirements of 20 MC 25.105{g){3) and will also OV
serve as a kickoff plug for C22A-26. Reverse out with seawater.
Completely drain mud pits and clean out all metal cuttings from metal
munching operations.
18. After wac 12 hours, clean out and drill cement to 375' using the kick off
motor assembly. Use seawater as a drilling fluid. If the cement is hard
at 375', prepare to kickoff Well C22A-26.

C-LINEWELL WELL
MIDDLE GROUND SHOAL FIELD
C - LINEWELL REPORT:
9/1/70 Rigging up
9/2/70 Continue rigging up BOP at 1500 psi. OK. Screwed onto tubing
donut with 3-1/2" EUE tubing and unseated packer. Packer
sheared at 130,000 lbs.* Pulled on up to 190,000 1bs.*
Packer appeared to be dragging a ball with it. Worked packer
up and down. Came free. Hook load including blocks 180,000
lbs. Pulling out of hole with tubing. Filling annulus wI
injection water at 2,000 BD rate. (*includes approx. 20,000
lbs. block weight). Plan to perforate today.
9/3/70
Finished pulling tubing. Many loose joints. Rigged Schlumberger.
Using 2 hyperjets/ft. reperforated HC-HD, interval 10890-10903.
Located top of bridge at 11048. Rigged down Sch1umberger.
Made up bit and scraper assembly. Running tubing. Injecting
approx. 1000 BID treated injection water.
9/4/70
Clean out assembly consists of 6" bit, Baker scraper, 2-4-3/4 x
30' drill collars, X-over 3Yz mod. lF x 3Yz EUE 8 RD tubing,
3Yz" EUE tubing to surface.
Found top of fill at 11030 by pipe measurement. Rigged
up reverse circulating head and began circulating up tubing
at 2:45 p.m. w/6000 BID treated salt water injecting down
annulus. Circulating oily water through flotation cell until
well cleans up. Put 30,000# wt. on bridge while reverse
circulating. Bridge appears to be firm. SD at 6 p.m. w/lOOO
BID injected in annulus.
9/5/70
With reverse circulation, drilled through hard bridge 11030-11045
(Schlumberger located top of bridge at 11048"· ) Lowered bit
to top of second bridge at 11436. Penetration rate slow.
Returns show material to be sluggit. Bottom of second bridge
at 11467: Reverse circulated clean. Lowered bit to top of
third bridge at 11634. Could not wash through bridge. Reverse
circulated bottoms up while injecting 6000 BID down annulus.
Shut down for night with 1000 BID injection rate down annulus.
9/6/70
Resumed operations at 6 a.m. Drilling on bridge at 11634. Lost
returns at 11710 while injecting 4500 BID SW rate at 600 psi
down annulus - very little returns. Increased rate to 12500
BID with 2300 psi on annulus at 10:30 a.m. Estimated 1 gpm
returns. Rigged up to pull. Pulled tubing wet with normal
drag. Found one drill collar plugged with sluggit. Secured
operation at 6 p.m. with 1000 BID SW injection rate down
annulus. Shut down for holiday.

No work. Plan to run packers, etc. the morning, leaving
remaining fill in hole.
Resumed operations 9 a.m. Made up and ran packers according
to work sheet. Some loose plastic in tubing. Rabbitting
all joints. SD at 6 p.m. with 3000 B/D salt water injecting
down annulus to coal string.
Finished running in hole without tubing, rabbiting all joints.
Rigged Schlumberger to run Gamma Ray log w/tubing hanger spaced
out 8' above tubing hanger seat. Schlumberger tied in Gamma
Ray with previously run Gamma Ray C.B.L. to a shale break section
at 11334' or at 11302' R.T. by logging up and locating collars
from these reference points. We were able to locate the Q-nipple
at the end of the tubing string at 11,222' (8'high) we logged all
jewelry in the tubing string from the Q nipple at 11,222' to the
top packer at 10,750' in order to further check all spacing. All
spacing between packers checked out OK. (See Dresser/Guiberson
running detail). Spaced out tubing hanger by adding 1 - 6' pup
joint and located bottom packer at center of 9' blank section of
casing at 11208 - 11217 R.T. Ran in hole with piano wire and
set Q plug in Q nipple at 11230. Tried to pressure up to set
packers. Could not get any pressure on surface. R.I.H. with
piano wire to check position of sliding sleeves and Q plug.
Found Q plug or some obstruction on top of K.B.M. #6 at 9215
R.T. Could not retrieve Q plug or get past obstruction with
wire line tools. Rigging to pull tubing to obstruction.
Injecting 1000 B/D SW down annulus.
R.T. Rotray Table
Ran wireline and attempted to retrieve Q-plug at 9215 RT without
success. Commenced pulling tubing at 8:30 a.m. Pulled to
valve #6 and found Q plug cocked over to the side in the KBM
mandrel - the bottom of the Q plug guide was resting on top
of the dummy valve pulling neck. Also found 4-5 cupfull of
fine plastic flakes bridged off below the Q plug. Broke out
the KBM mandrel and cleaned it. Rigged wireline and set Q
plug. Fluid level at 1400. Did not fill tubing on advice or
Guiberson serviceman because of concern that button slips at
top of packer could push out against restraining straps with
300 psi differential. Running tubing. Injecting 1000 B/D SW
down annulus.
Finished running tubing. Tubing would not fill with water. Ran
piano wire and found fluid level at 750 RT. Pulled wire line
and reattempted to fill tubing. Filled and pressured OK to 300
psi. Held 5 minutes with no bleedoff of pressure. Increased
pressure to 1100 psi and set bottom packer. Slacked off 1 foot
- ,-
(
(
on tubing and increased pressure to 1000 psi to set middle
packer. Increased pressure to 1100 psi and set top packer.
All packers set about 300 psi lower than planned because of
lower annulus fluid level causing increased differential
across packers. Lowered tubing 5 feet and landed donut.
Total loading on top packer 32,000 I (hook weight decreased
from 84,000 # to 52,000 I just before landing). Increased
pressure to 2000 psi to further set packers. Pressure held
OK. Bled off pressure.
Ran shifting tool on wire line and opened sliding sleeve at
11107 to lower fluid level in tubing. Waited 15 minutes
w/vacuum on tubing for first 12 minutes. Opened sliding
sleeve at 10740. Waited 15 minutes wlvacuum on tubing for
first 5 minutes. Opened sliding sleeve at 11207. No vacuum.
Pulled tools and ran Q plug retrieving tool. Fluid level at
2100 RT. Made several unsuccessful attempts to retrieve Q
plug. Finally recovered plug by jarring. Rigged hose to
lubricator and injected overnight with 1500 BID SW down
tubing. Working on electric brake.
9/13/70
Shut down injection at 6 a.m. after injecting 9 hours at 1500
BID rate at surface vacuum.
Removed BOP stack and riser. Flanged up and tested Xmax
tree to 3000 psi with water. Held 15 minutes okay. Rigged
up injection line and commenced injection down tubing at
2000 BID rate with surface vacuum at 10 p.m. 9/12/70. Rig
released from South Linewell at 10 p.m. 9/12/70, moving to
C-4l-23.
9/18/70
Ran 6000 psi pressure bomb below Q plug and landed in Q nipple.
Ran and hung second 6000 psi pressure bomb at 11200. With
sliding sleeves at 11107 and 11207 open and with sliding
sleeve at 10740 closed injected 9 bbls SW down tubing at 1/2
bbl. per minute. Waited 4 hours. Pulled bombs 7:30 p.m.
9/17/70. Results on separate sheet.

surface pressure and 400 B/D with diesel. Rate dropped to 100 BID.
Rate too low to place acid.
Reran tubing and tools with circulating valve and with tool at 11,644',
circulated in 5000 gal. inhibited mud acid. Soaked all perfs - 10,561'
GR marker) to 11,624' (HR marker) - for 7 hours.
Pressure-wash Pass I - attempted pressure wash of all perfs from 11,624'
to 11,400' circulating sleeve cut out and Pass I aborted. Swabbed perfs
for 18 hours.
Reverse circulated out acid. Pulled tubing and found tool plugged with
5-10 gal of tubing-internal-plastic-coating chips.
Attempted to inject diesel in selected perforations in the interval
10,561' to 11,606', tested total of 76' of perfs, diesel injectivity
obtained in only 18' in this pass.
Reran tools with new tubing. Atte~?ted to inject diesel into selected
perforations in the interval 10,572' to 11,624'.
Total of 213' of ?erfs tested of whLch 172 had not been tested pxevioùs1y
with iiese1. Of this 172', 86' would not accept diesel at 2000 Fsi
surface pressure.
Attenpted secoñd pressure-wash pass with inhibited mud acid. Pu.aped
5000 5a1 acid with tool at 11,467'. Pressure washer cups failed änd
acid fell away into formation. Strlng acid up hole to 10,550'.
