Memorandum State of Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission To: Well File: Trading Bay St A-23 Permit # 170-059 April 11, 2002 Administrative Abandonmem Action Trading Bay St A-23 Permit # 170-059 This memo will remain at the front of the subject well file. Well A-23 was replaced by A-23DPN (permit # 172-020, API# 50-733-20227-90) when the permit was approved 4/26/1972. The replacement well incorporates an extension to a new bottom hole location using the existing well bore. This extension, along with the original hole, will be used for production of hydrocarbons. A review of both well files indicates administrative abandonment of the originating well bore is appropriate according to current AOGCC procedures for wells where additional permitted extension is drilled from an existing well bore. 20 AAC 25.005(a) requires a Permit to Drill for each hole drilled below the conductor unless drilled to straighten the original hole, sidetrack junk, or correct mechanical difficulties. In addition, AOGCC data bases require each conductor has only one permit number and AP~I number. Administrative abandonmem of the original permit only eliminates duplication in the databases. Information for the original well and its replacement will be maintained in their respective files. The operator has been notified of this action. All future correspondence with the AOGCC should reflect the new permit number, API number and well data. Petroleum ~,~.~~~-~ ' ~ Commissioner .. ' Trading Bay State A-23 (34-4) was drilled to a total depth of 4960'; 9-5/8" production csg was run to TD & cemented to surface. Information obtained from well logs and sidewall cores showed the 24-6 sand to be oil productive. A drill stem test was run to test the interval 3424'-3444'. This interval was'perforated with two holes per foot. A Howco DST tool was run on dry drill pipe to 3365'. The drill pipe was pressured with a 900# gas cushion. Packer was set at 3365' and tool was opened for 15 min initial flow against 900# gas cushion. Tool was then closed for 1-1/2 hrs initial shut in. Tool was then opened at 6:45 pm 1/11/71, for 8 hr final flow period. 900# gas cushion was bled off at this time and formation opened to test separator at O# pressure, with no fluid to surface. Well was then shut in for 8 hr final shut in period at which time drill pipe was reversed clean and two bbls of 22.9°API gravity oilzwas recovered. The DST charts showed test to be good and no tool plugging was indicated. Reason for iow production rate was determined to be extremely low permeability of the formation. Pressure records of the DST are as follows: q ~ (~ ~ :~ ~1 ~ ~'~ . ~:,.. ~' 'i,~' .: ~../ F~rm P--3 REV. 9.30-69 $~brnit "Intentions" in Triplicate ~ & "Subsequent Reports" in Duplicatek~ 'Page 2 STATE OF ALASKA 5.
