Introduction As required by Rule 9 of the Badami Oil Pool Area Injection Order, dated August 26, 1998, this report provides a summary of the enhanced oil recovery operations at Badami. It will address the following, • Progress of the enhanced recovery project and reservoir management summary including engineering and geological parameters. • Voidage balance by month of produced fluids and injected fluids. • Analysis of reservoir pressure surveys within the pool. • Results and where appropriate, analysis of production and injection logs, tracer surveys and observation well surveys. • Special monitoring. • Evaluation of well testing and allocation, Future development plans. • Review of Annual Plan of Operations and Development. 2. Summary of Reservoir Management and Enhanced Recovery The total volume of oil produced from the Badami reservoir during 1999 was 1,150,367 stb. 1,697 mmscf of associated and free gas was produced with the oil and an additional 683 mmscf was purchased from Endicott. 1,718 mmscf of gas has been injected. 3560 bbls of formation water was produced. 10 wells including the disposal well have been drilled and completed to date. Well disposition is detailed in Table 1. At the beginning of 1999, Badami was on production with 5 producers making just under 3000 bopd. However, due to the risk to the export pipeline resulting from the diminishing production rate and the low ambient winter temperature, the decision was made to temporarily shut down Badami. Thus on February 4, 1999, the production at Badami was shut in and gas from Endicott was used to displace the oil export pipeline. During the 3 month shut in period, the Endicott gas was used as the source of fuel at Badaml. This period allowed the reservoir pressure to build-up and provided the opportunity to carry out remedial well work. The time was also taken to recalibrate seismic attributes, revise the geostatistical model, and update the OOIP numbers. This work resulted in the OOIP being reduced from 486 mmstb to 165 mmstb for the Phase I Development area. The area surrounding the current well stock contains 51 mmstb of this revised OOIP with only 27 mmstb being accessible through connected reservoir, The field was brought back on-line on May 2, 1999. At this time, gas injection was established in the two injectors, B1-14 and B1-21 on a continuous basis with the gas supply from Endicott supplementing produced gas. Gas injection continued through the remainder of 1999 despite the loss of the 6" utility pipeline from Endicott and limited injection due to significant downtime of the compressors. The loss of the 6" utility pipeline in November was due to a weld crack caused by wind induced vibration. Producer 81-36, the only new reservoir penetration made during 1999, was drilled in May 1999. This well was drilled below the main Brookian horizon to test 2 deeper prospective reservoirs. Gas was tested in the Kekituk zone, and only very low rates of oil were produced from the Killian zone. However, in this well 120+ft of reservoir in the Brookian reservoir was penetrated, the thickest interval yet encountered in any of the Badami wells. The production and gas disposition history of the field during 1999 is shown in Figure 1 and 2. Figures 3 through 8 present the well test history of the producers. Most of the producers showed some recovery of productivity following the warm shut down. Figures 9 and 10 show the gas injection history. Connectivity between producer/injection pairs 131-15/131-14 and 131-18/B1-21 has been confirmed through production data and is evidenced by the increasing GOR trend towards the end of the year. Production rates also show less decline in these wells while the GOR continues to increase. mECEIVEID f AR -0 7 2000 Al*a Lail & Gas Cats. Commaton Anchorage 3. Voidage Balance Production and injection volumes, and reservoir voidage by month are detailed in Tables 2 and 3. Cumulative voidage through December 31, 1999 is negative 2,058,383 reservoir barrels. 4. Reservoir Pressure Monitoring Details of the bottom hole reservoir pressure monitoring that has taken place at Badami during 1999 is listed in Table 4. Additionally, attempts were made to monitor the reservoir pressure build up during the 3 month warm shut-in period by measuring closed in well head pressures and extrapolating to bottom hole conditions. Unfortunately these results were very poor due to the inherent errors in the methodology. S. Production Logging In addition to the bottom hole pressures listed in Table 4, an injection log was run on B1-21 on November 14, 1999. The flowmeter showed that gas is entering all perforations. An injection log was also attempted on B1-14 at the same time but aborted due to the well head pressure being higher than the working pressure of the tools. 6. Special Monitoring As part of the program of production performance monitoring to confirm whether we had connectivity between the two gas injectors and their associated producers, gas samples at the producers were taken and were analyzed for CO2 content. The injected gas was supplemented with Endicott gas which contained roughly 12% CO2, and it was believed that an increase in the CO2 content at the producers would indicate positive connectivity within the reservoir. It transpired that the production performance indicated positive connectivity before analysis of the gas did partly because of the ambiguity of the results of the gas analysis. 7. Evaluation of Well Testing and Allocation The summary of well testing frequency for each of the Badami wells is presented in Table S. The rapid rate decline seen in all of the wells caused the production well testing frequency to be much higher than would be typical. Daily oil production allocation to each well was the same as that used in 1998, and was accomplished by a method of pro -rating the oil rates such that the total oil produced from all of the wells equaled that recorded by the fiscal pipeline meter while honoring the well tests. S. Future Development Plans At this time, there are no further economic development plans for the Brookian reservoir at Badami. Plans are to continue producing with the current well stock. Additional vibration dampeners have been placed on the 6" utility pipeline from Endicott to mitigate further damage caused by vibration. The possibility of successful exploration in the area around the Badami unit may bring forward new options for Badami reservoir. 9. Review of Annual Plan of Operations and Development Despite the poor performance of the wells, the Plan of Operations remains unchanged at this time. (2) Per a discussion between Jack Hartz and Anna Dube on 3/22/00, an average solution GOR of 586 was determined using production data from 8/98 to 2/99. In using this assumption, there are months when production from lower GOR wells leads to overestimating associated gas. In order to match metered rates, free gas volumes are shown to be negative. (3) Volumes of produced water are reported here although they are not reported in other production allocation reporting due to not being of significant volume and difficult to allocate to individual wells. Volumes are reported For the month the water is removed from the separator and sent to the disposal well. (4) The gas produced in April was associated to wellwork on the injectors.
