The report includes surveillance data associated with waterflood projects in both reservoirs. The time period covered is January through December 2000. Order 205 for the Kuparuk River Oil Pool requires the Operator to submit the following for the previous calendar year: • A tabulation of reservoir pressure and injection pressure data on wells in the waterflood permit area. • A tabulation of all production logs, injection well surveys, and injection well performance data. • Produced fluid volumes (oil, gas, and water) and injected fluid volumes reported by month and on a cumulative basis. Order 283 for the Schrader Bluff Oil Pool requires the Operator to submit the following for the previous calendar year: • Progress of enhanced recovery project(s) implementation and reservoir management summary. • Voidage balance by month of produced fluids (oil, gas, and water) and injected fluids (gas, water, and low molecular weight hydrocarbons, and any other injected substances). • Analysis of reservoir pressure within the field. • Results and where appropriate, analysis of production logging surveys, tracer surveys and observation well surveys. Separate sections are provided for the two producing reservoirs. PJ Overview Exhibit 1-A shows the general outline of the two waterflood projects in The Milne Point Unit: the Kuparuk River Oil Pool waterflood and the Schrader Bluff Oil Pool waterflood. There is also active immiscible gas injection (WAG process) in the Kuparuk River waterflood area. Exhibit 1-B provides well count, production, and injection statistics for the two project areas included in this report. During the report period of January through December 2000, field production (including Sag River Oil Pool) averaged 52.1 MBOD, 26.5 MMSCFD (GOR 509 SCF/STB) and 40.5 MBWD (watercut 43.7%). Waterflood injection during this period average 93.6 MBWD with 16.9 MMSCFD of immiscible gas injection. Field voidage replacement ratio was 1.00 for 2000. Cumulative water injection in the Kuparuk River Oil Pool waterflood project area from startup through December 2000 was 198.8 MMSTB, while cumulative gas injection was 40.4 BSCF. Cumulative production since waterflood startup was 129.1 MMSTB oil, 64.1 BSCF gas, and 74.8 MMSTB water. As of December 31, 2000, cumulative production exceeded injection by 5.9 MMRB. Cumulative water injection in the Schrader Bluff Oil Pool waterflood project area from startup through December 2000 was 16.1 MMSTB. Cumulative production since waterflood startup was 104.3 MMSTB oil, 7.2 BSCF gas, and 5.6 MMSTB water. An additional 1.0 MMSTB of oil, 0.4 BSCF of gas and 0.1 MMSTB of water were recovered prior to waterflood startup. From first production to December 31, 2000, cumulative production exceeded injection by 11.7 MMRB. Exhibit 1-C provides an areal view of average hydraulic unit pressure throughout the Kuparuk River Oil Pool. Hydraulic unit is a term used to describe a group of wells that are interpreted to be in communication with one another, but not with surrounding wells. The hydraulic units are typically bounded by sealing faults. Well pressure data and variations in response to water and gas injection provide the data to generate the hydraulic units. 3 Kuparuk River Oil Pool Waterllood Project Summary The Kuparuk River Oil Pool waterflood area is shown in Exhibit 2-A. The locations of production and injection wells are shown with the waterflood patterns specifically identified. There were 84 producing wells and 51 injection wells that contributed to production/injection during 2000. Exhibit 2-13 shows a production plot for the reservoir covering the entire project history through December 2000. The Kuparuk River Oil Pool oil production averaged 45.3 MSTBD for 2000 compared to 47.9 MSTBD in 1999. This represents an oil production decrease of 5.4 % in 2000. Water production averaged 37.9 MBWD in 2000 and 31.0 MBWD in 1999, an increase of 22.3% Cumulative production since waterflood startup through the end of 2000 is 129.1 MMSTB of oil, 64.1 BSCF gas, and 74.8 MMSTB of water. Exhibit 2-C shows an injection plot for the reservoir covering the entire project history through December 2000. Waterflood injection rates averaged 80.9 MBWD and 16.9 MMSCFD for 2000. Injection rates in 1999 averaged 84.7 MBWD and 16.8 MMSCFD. This represents a decrease in water injection of 4.5%. Gas injection did not change significantly from 1999. Reservoir voidage also stayed about the same at 5.8 MMRB in 2000. The decrease increase in water injection rate was due to the increase in reservoir pressure in the F and L pads area. Two new WAG injectors were drilled in the Kuparuk River reservoir in 2000. The reservoir voidage balance does not include the water influx from the aquifer, so the under -injection volume is overstated in this report. Cumulative water injection since waterflood startup through the end of 2000 is 198.8 MMSTB and cumulative gas injection is 40.4 BSCF. Water cut increased from 39.3% in 1999 to 45.6% in 2000. Water cut continues to increase in the more mature waterflood patterns. Water breakthrough was also observed in the relatively new waterflood patterns at F and L pads. It is expected that water cut will continue to increase in the Kuparuk River reservoir. The GOR increased slightly from 479 SCF/STB in 1999 to 495 SCF/STB in 2000 due to increased gas injection in the Kuparuk reservoir. Exhibit 2-D presents a summary of the pertinent production information for the Kuparuk River Oil Pool waterflood. Exhibit 2-E shows a monthly breakdown of production and injection data for the report period. This data shows that the voidage replacement ratio stayed constant at about 1.0 throughout 2000. Exhibit 2-F presents the tabular static pressure data for the Kuparuk River Oil Pool wells taken during 2000. Average reservoir pressure was approximately 3210 psi as of December 2000. Exhibit 2-G provides a monthly summary of individual well injection rate and injection pressure data for all of the Kuparuk River Oil Pool injectors. 4 Schrader Bluff Oil Pool Waterflood Project Summary The Schrader Bluff Oil Pool waterflood area is shown in Exhibit 3-A. The locations of production and injection wells are shown with the waterflood patterns specifically identified. As of year end 2000, there were 31 producing wells and 11 injection wells that contributed to production/injection during 2000. Exhibit 3-B shows a production plot for the reservoir covering the entire project history through December 2000. The Schrader Bluff Oil Pool oil production averaged 6.8 MSTBD for 2000 compared to 5.9 MSTBD in 1999. This represents an oil production increase of 15% in 2000. Water production averaged 2.6 MBWD in 2000. Cumulative production since waterflood startup through the end of 2000 is 13.4 MMSTB of oil, 7.2 BSCF of gas, and 5.4 MMSTB of water. Exhibit 3-C shows an injection plot for the reservoir covering the entire project history through December 2000. The waterflood injection rate averaged 12.7 MBWD for 2000. The water injection rate in 1999 averaged 10.5 MBWD. This represents an increase in water injection of 21% in 2000. This was primarily due to the increase of injection targets in the Schrader Bluff reservoir. Since December 1999, the waterflood balance has increased from a cumulative under - injection of 11.5 MMRB to 11.7 MMRB under -injected. Cumulative water injection since waterflood startup through the end of 2000 is 16.1 MMSTB. The high under -injection volume is mainly due to the fact that a large number of producers are in small hydraulic units where injectors can not be justified economically. In the supported water flood patterns, under -injection is minimal. Current plan is to bring the reservoir voidage balance to zero in all supported water flood patterns. Water cut increased from 25% in 1999 to 28% in 2000. The GOR increased slightly from 549 SCF/STB in 1999 to 593 SCF/STB in 2000 due to a few new high GOR wells coming on line. Exhibit 3-D presents a summary of the pertinent production information for the Schrader Bluff Oil Pool waterflood. Exhibit 3-E shows a monthly breakdown of production and injection data for the report period. This data shows that water injection rate into the Schrader Bluff reservoir significantly increased in 2000 as a result of increasing injection targets. Exhibit 3-F presents the tabular static pressure data for the Schrader Bluff Oil Pool wells taken during 2000. Average reservoir pressure was approximately 1700 psi as of December 2000. Exhibit 3-G provides a monthly summary of individual well injection rate and injection pressure data for all of the Schrader Bluff Oil Pool injectors. Injection/Production Well Surveillance Logs As per Conservation Order 483, the Milne Point Operator runs injection surveys on at least one third of multiple sand injectors annually and on new multiple sand injectors within 12 months of injection to ensure that injection conformance to the zone of interest. From the injection surveys, we get information about the split of injection between zones and the distribution of injection across a specific zone. There were 36 multi -sand injectors in service and 1 new injector was drilled in 2000. Hence, we needed to perform injection survey on 12 of the 37 wells in 2000. We establish which injectors to survey by looking for wells that have not had a recent injection survey, or wells where we think the survey information would be valuable. Examples are injectors in a hydraulic unit where we were uncertain about the oil recovered from the different zones, or wells in a block where we want to perform possible water shutoffs or use straddle packer completions to control water injection distribution. Normally a Spinner/Temperature/Pressure (STP) survey is run since such a survey provides reliable information for most of our wells. This can be done with memory gauges on slickline or with E -line. In some cases coiled tubing cleanouts have to be performed to expose all of the perforated interval before the survey was performed. Water Flow Logs (WFL) are run on wells with low water velocities where an STP survey would not be accurate. Both low water injection rate and large casing size contribute to reduced velocities. Also, WFL's are run in wells with straddle completions and perforations behind tailpipes because the WFL allows us to see fluid movement behind pipe. An inverted WFL will be run on new injectors with questionable cement jobs to confirm that injection is contained within the appropriate formation. Production logs such as Flow View (DEFT) can be run in the few gas lifted in order to determine the fluid splits from each producing zone. These logs can be used to identify oil/water splits in each zone and to identify a well with an isolated water producing interval to treat with a relative permeability modifier polymer. In addition, these logs assist in calculating recovery factors between injector/producer pairs and identifying waterflood patterns in this area of the field. For economic reasons, production logs are only run as necessary for optimization purposes and where additional information will have a significant impact on the operation of the well. Exhibit 4-A is a summary of the Milne Point field production and injection well surveillance logs performed in 2000. Twenty two injectors were surveyed or attempted to be surveyed at Milne Point in 2000, of which 4 wells that were surveyed early 2000 were counted as 1999 surveys. Ten more wells have been surveyed successfully and can be counted as 2000 surveys. Attempts in surveying 8 other wells have failed due to difficulties in trying to get the tool down to the perforated intervals. Most of these wells will need coiled tubing clean out before we can get the tools down. We will make new attempts to perform surveys on these wells in the future.
