MORAINE PILOTS/ STUDIES
The Moraine 1 core well was cored, logged, and sampled in early 2015 to further test the potential of the
Moraine reservoir (previously the interval was flow tested via Kuparuk well 3S‐19 in 2013 and 2014). After
obtaining all of the relevant samples and data, the Moraine 1 was plugged and abandoned in 2015. A
horizontal producer, well 3S‐620, was drilled in early 2015, hydraulically stimulated in May 2015, and put on
production in June 2015. The general objective of the 3S‐620 was to evaluate the economic viability of a
stimulated horizontal well in the Moraine reservoir. Well 3S‐620 was produced until the end of January 2016
to gather long‐term liquid rates, water cut trends, and pressure changes in the Moraine reservoir. The
Kuparuk River Unit Owners plan to spud their first dedicated injector, well 3S‐613, in the second quarter of
2016 to pressure support well 3S‐620 and to evaluate the waterflood performance of the Moraine Reservoir.

UGNU PILOTS/ STUDIES
The Kuparuk River Unit working interest owners re‐started the Ugnu Heavy Oil pilot and established
stabilized oil flow from well 1H‐401 during December 2013. A down hole heater was used to lower the oil
viscosity sufficiently to allow viscous oil to flow via a progressive cavity pump installed in the well. The well
has been online for most of the time since installation of the down hole heater and continues to produce.
