Dear Mr Bush:
A review of our files indicates that Union O11 Company of
California, as operator of the subject wells, has not fully
complied with all of the requirements associated with the.
abandonment of these wells.
A form 10-407 and daily well operations for plug and
abandonment of these wells should have been filed with the
Commission within thirty days after abandonment. All three
wells s%~sequently have been redrilled.
Please let me know if there is any problem with submitting
these forms as required in a timely man~er.
Sincerely,
steve McMalns

Dear Ms. Johnson:
I have attached surface survey locations of the "Legs" and
conductors for the four platforms in the Trading Bay Unit as well as
the Union Oil-operated Monopod and Granite Point Platforms. I was
unable to locate any plats from a registered surveyor but I hope
this will meet your ~needs.
Yours very truly,

ABANDONMENT PROCEDURE
~A-28
MODIFIED
Unocal is currently in the process of abandoning the existing A-28
wellbore. During our procedures we have uncovered a potentially
dangerous situation due to the poor condition of the existing
13-3/8" casing string. We believe it is necessary to modify our
abandonment procedure to ensure continued safe operations. The
modfication will also create a change in the redrilling of A-28 and
a modified Sundry will be submitted in the near future to detail
those changes. The following is a short summary of the abandonment
in progress as well as the proposed changes.
Current Abandonment:
1. The completion did not freely release.
·
The 2-7/8" tubing was cut at 5852' 4823' and 4578'
Tubing recovery was only successful to 4579' MD.
·
A cement retainer was set at 4545' and 640 sacks of cement
were sqz'd thru the retainer and remaining tubing to the
"D" zone perfs. TOC was established at 4470'.
4. A second cmt retainer was set at 1850'.
·
Recovery efforts of the 9-5/8" csg resulted in casing cuts
at 1511', 750', 735' and 730'. The current top of 9-5/8"
csg is at 507'.
·
Because of a restriction at 470' in the 13-3/8" casing a
13-3/8" caliper was run.

Abandonment modification:
Because of the poor condition of the 13-3/8" casing we propose the
following:
1·
Complete the abandonment of the 9-5/8" casing as is with:
a) Cement plug across the casing cut at 1511'.
b)
A 200 lin ft. cement plug to straddle the casing cuts
at 750', 735' and 730'. This plug will be tagged.
·
We will seal off the 13-3/8" casing problems by laying
cement from 50' inside the 9-5/8" stub (± 550') to ± 250'
in the 13-3/8" csg. An attempt will be made to squeeze
this cement.
·
The wellbore will then be prepared to recover the 13-3/8"
casing to ± 300' to allow for a complete redrill of this
well.
The complete, modified redrill procedure will be submitted when our
engineering design work is completed early next week.

Witness No Flow Test on
Monopod Platform,
Wel ~~and A-32,
Union Oil, Trading Bay
Unit.
June~ 1, 1981~ i was on the Monopod Platform, for Union Oil to
witness safety valve tests that failed initial tests, and also
to witness two no-flow test's (subject of this report).
I brought back the pressure charts and the flow meter data that
was taken~ from midnight May 31, to 3:00 PM; June 1, 1981 on
wells A-28 and A-32 to demonstrate the no flow test's condi-
tions.
The starting tubing Pressure was 225 p.s.i.g, on A-28 and 235
p.s.i.g, on A-32. ~en I arrived on the platform at 9:15 AM the
two well's were lined up to flow through the skimmer tanks. I
asked the supervisor to turn the flow on the two wells to the
separators, well no. A-28 was set up to run through separator #2
at 9:45 AM. The meter register at 9~20 AM was 77035503 on well
no. A-28 and 77035503 at 3:00 PM. The tubing pressure was 2
pounds, indicating no flow.
Well no. A-32 was flowing through separator %1. The meter
register at 10..00 AM read 438450.4 and at the finish of the test
at 3~00 PM read 438519.4. The tubing pressure read 55 p.s.i.g.
Thus indicating the well was still flowing. Also t~e chart on
the Barton ...... meter showed the well was producing through the
separator'.
In summary, I witnessed the no-flow of well's no. A-28, and well
no. A-32, on the Monopod platform for Union Oil. I recommend no
SSSV required in well no. A-28. I do recommend that a SSSV is
required and installed in well no. A-32.

4, Cement as follows:
a. Mix class "G" cement with 8% gel prehydrated in mixing t.!20 until cement
returns to surface.
*Prehydrate 2 1/2% gel by weight of water which is equivalent
to 156 pounds of gel per I00 cu. ft. of mixing water,
*Vary mixing water and slurry density to obtain desired percent of gel.
Will required approximately 10.4 gallons mixing water or 1.4 cu. ft,
mixing water per sack of cement,
Will yield approx~ately 1,92 cu. ft. slurry volume per sack of
cement mixed at 98#/ cu. ft. and have 8% gel equivalent.
b. After cement returns to surface, mix 100 sx. class "G" w/ 3% CaC12
w/o gel to 118#/ cu. ft. and displace cement through drill pipe to
stab-in collar at 1210'.
c. Pull out of stab-in collar w/ drill pipe and check float equipment.
Pooh w/ stab-in stinger~ back off 13 3/8" landing joint and circulate
