Since the well does not have a packer in it, MI demonstration must be by other means. The well was drilled beginning in early 1986 and completed in April. There is very little information available in the AOGCC well file. Like well -38, it does not appear that any of the original perforations have been altered since the original completion. Some additional perforations have been added, but all are below the top of the original perfs. It is interesting to note that in the drilling history, a water kick is noted occurring at 9842' which is about 80' above the top perforation. The kick required 2.5 ppg mud weight increase. The subsequent 7" liner cement job must have established isolation since the well was ultimately completed making only 5 bbl of water. Unocal has provided a copy of the CBL run March 12, 1986. A copy of the log is not available in the AOGCC well files. Two passes are presented, one at 0 psi and the other with 500 psi. A cement top is shown beginning at about 9830' (about the kick depth) in each presentation, approximately 90' above the top perforation. The nonpressured pass indicates the presence of a microannulus that looks to disappear between 9905 -9915. When pressure is applied, there is improvement in the attenuation. The available information indicates there is cement present beginning about 90' above the top perforation and the subsequent Iow water production would corroborate that isolation exists. MI is indicated. Subject to Unocal complying with the requirements of the attached "Procedures to Obtain Variances on Packerless Wells (version 4) February 9 2000", I recommend approval to convert Anna 38 (185-219) as proposed. Injection fluid will normally be filtered Cook Inlet water at ~55 deg F. 1. Do a base line temperature profile from'surface to top of perfs. 2. Start injection - after 14 days, run a standard step-rate-test per SPE recommended procedure. Run test to maximum allowable pressure. Repeat step-rate-test after injection pressures have stabilized. 3. After 30 days of injection, run a temperature profile making stops as in the baseline survey (if appropriate) and hang recorder in well. Note: if the stops used in the baseline profile are not appropriate, make appropriate stops in this profile and use in all subsequent surveys in this well. 4. After 48 hours, retrieve recorder and run a temperature profile from the perfs to the surface using the appropriate stops. 5. After retrieving the recorder, run in hole with high speed recorder which was used for Step #1. 6. Compare the series of profiles to the baseline. 7. Evaluate all data from the temperature profiles and the step-rate-test to determine if the there are indications of leaking casing and or upward flow behind the casing. 8. If the conclusion is that there are no casing leaks above the zone and no upward flow behind the pipe, the well can be put back on injection. 9. Daily injection rates and tubing and surface casing pressures will be recorded daily and reported to the AOGCC monthly. 10. If injection rates or pressures or surface casing pressure indicate the possibility of a casing leak, thewell will be immediately shut-in and the AOGcc notified; future operations will then be as agreed. 11. The well will be tested every two years for mechanical integrity as in the above steps or by another procedure acceptable to the AOGCC. Describe proposed program: Operator proposes to directionally dril subject well from Leg 2, Slot 4, Granite Point PLatform Anna to a Middle Kenai sand (C-5) target at 1500' FNL, 1800' FWL, Section 7, TION, R12W, S.M. Total depth is estimated at 10720' MD, 10305' TVD after adequate penetration of the Middle Kenai Sands. After log evaluations, Zones of interest will be perforated, & the well placed on hydraulic lift. There are no affected operators. A location plat & BOPE sketches are attached. Note' casing design factors.of 1.125, 1.0, and 1.8 will be used for collapse,_burst, and tensile strengths respectively. EStimated maximum mud weight reouired is 8'.8 ppg. 9 5/8" casing design is based on'10.5 ppg. ! 23.
