RE: Year End 1990 Endicott Oil Pool - Waterflood Surveillance Report
Dear Mr. Johnston:
Attached is the annual Endicott Waterflood Surveillance Report. This report
covers the status of the Phase 1 and the 313/3C subzones waterflood program
from the initiation of injection in February 1988 through December 1990. In
addition, field surveillance and material balance information is provided from
field start-up in October 1987 through December 1990.
BP Exploration recommends a briefing in March 1991 to illustrate the present
status and future waterflood plans. Please advise Mr. H. L. Hellman at 564-
4785 concerning a convenient time for the meeting and if there are any other
questions.

ENDICOTT OIL POOL
WATERFLOOD SURVEILLANCE REPORT
DECEMBER 31, 1990
Proiect Status Summ
This report covers the period from the start of water injection on February 29,
1988 through December 31, 1990 for the Endicott Oil Pool. During the report
period water injection occurred in seventeen wells, fifteen previously reported
wells and two new wells. Exhibit 1 shows a map of the field with the year-
end well status including the existing water injectors, gas injectors, and oil
producers.
Cumulative Endicott production since start-up is 118.1 MMSTB of oil, 126.2
BSCF of gas, and 21.0 MMB of water. Cumulative water injection into
Endicott through December 1990 is 64.5 MMB sea water and 16.9 MMB
produced water for a total of 81.4 MMB as detailed in Exhibit 2. The
cumulative injected and produced reservoir volumes since start-up are
shown in Exhibit 3. As of December 31, 1990, reservoir voidage had
exceeded gas and water injection by 57.53 MMRB.
Iniection Well Performance
An overview of waterflood performance is shown in Exhibit 4. Total injection
volumes, the target injection rates, injectivity index and well start-up dates
through December 30, 1990 are shown. Exhibit 5 provides graphs of the
injection rates, injectivity index and wellhead pressure versus time for the
seventeen water injection wells. Below is a detailed activity summary for
several injection wells.
Well 1-37/P-24 was converted from zone 2B injection to zone 3A production
during November, 1990 and placed on production December 2, 1990. This
well will be converted back to injection after freeze-up in the fall of 1991.
After that, the utility of this well will alternate between 3A zone production
during the summer and 2B zone injection during the winter. Well 1-37/P-24
will be used as an oil producer to drain an area of the 3A sub -zone where
drilling an additional well could not be justified. Simulation studies calculated
that using 1-37/P-24 for half the year would not affect recovery if injection is
comparably increased in well 2-34/P-14.
Water injection in well 1-69/V-19 commenced in November, 1990. This well
was pre -produced for 3 months to clean up perforations in preparation for
water injection. Normal injection rates have been 8-9 MBWPD at
approximately 2100 psi wellhead pressure.
Well 2-64/U-10 was drilled as a down dip water injector for zone 3C.
Attempts to establish injection have been unsuccessful due to the low
permeability of the sands. Stimulation options are under evaluation.
Water injection in well 4-48/K-43 commenced in December, 1990. This well
was pre -produced for 2 months to clean up perforations in preparation for
water injection. Normal injection rates have been 11 MBWPD at
approximately 2100 psi wellhead pressure.
The MPI 3A water injector, well 2-44/R-12, is under evaluation for a rig
workover to repair a parted connection in the 7" liner 4' above the 7" WD
packer.
Water Injection Performance
Pressure surveys taken as part of the reservoir surveillance program continue
to verify the restricted pressure communication across the mid -field fault
system. The observed pressures in the SDI region continue to be lower than
those observed in the MPI region. Implementation of water injection in the
SDI area has mitigated the pressure decline in subzones 2A, 2B and 3A.
Refer to Exhibit 6 for the bottomhole pressure data and voidage plots since
field start-up.
Summer Sea Water Quality
To maximize sea water injection during the winter months, commingled water
injection started in October 1990. Winter sea water injection is improved over
1989 with no scale or operation problems.
Future Waterflood Plans
There are seventeen water injectors in the field with injection capacity over
200 MB/D . This brings to completion the Phase 1 injection program for
subzones 3A, 28, and 2A, as well as the subzones 3B and 3C waterflood.
The waterflood surveillance program will be used to evaluate the reservoir
performance and determine the need of Phase II Waterflood Development
wells.
