The reason that the producable well was shut in was due to lack of market outlet. Our files indicate that by billing notice No. 8850 covering the period September 1, 1965 through September 1, 1966, and No. 12456 covering the period September 1, 1966 through September 1, 1967, the State of Alaska was paid money which was designated as rental. In effect, these payments were actually minimum royalty payments under the terms of the lease and should be considered as such. We acknowledge that they were paid in advance while the lease requests such payment at the end of the lease year. However, we do not ~= ........... s ...... the fact that they are actually minimum royalty payments which would be deductible from production during the lease year. We ask that you study this matter and advise us in writing if you concur that our payments are minimum royalty. cc: Atlantic Richfield Company Attention Roland Champion Yours very truly, ~ ...... ~ ' %~, ' ~ ~I' ~'~ ~ ? ~ ~ ' Division Land Manager - "' - .... SUMMAltY OF TESTING OPERATIONS SHELL-RICHFIELD NORTH COOK INLET STATE NO, 1 ' .After the seven inch casing was cemented at 11,109,' the well was plugged back to 11,050' preparatory to testing operations. The interval 11,001-11',026' was perforated with four jet holes per foot. Drill Stem Test No. 1: ll.:001-11:026..':.SePtember 6, 1964 With the packer set at 10,950', a 2 hour 44 minute initial shut in was taken and then the tool was opened for a 2 hour 13 minute flow period. A 6019' water cushion was used. An immediate strong blow was observed with the water cushion surfacing~ in 18. minutes. 0il surfaced after 35 minutes and the flow was directed through a 1/4" surface.. choke into the testing and gauging facilities. During a 90 minute flow period, 142 barrels of oil flowed at a 2000 psi surface pressure for an average rate of 2270 B/D and 842 MCF/D gas. The oil had a gravitY of · 53° A.P.I. with a cut of 0.75% (mostly mud). Following the flow. period a 5 hour 37 minute shut .in was taken and the well was backscuttled. ' Representative pressures were: Initial shut in 7617 .psi; final shut in 7579 psi; initial flow 4101 psi; and final flow 5526 psi. It was con- cluded from the test that the interval was~and no formation water was recovered. Prior to a test of the interval 4023-4043' the well was plugged · back· to.4500'. The interval 4023-4043' was then perforated with two jet holes per foot. Drill Stem Test No. 2: 4023-4043' September 11:1964 With the packer set at 3963', an initial shut in of one hour was taken, followed by a flow period of 3 hours 50 minutes. A water cushion of 500' was used, An instantaneous strong blow was observed with gas surfacing almost immediately. The water cushion surfaced at 13 minutes and the flow was directed through various chokes until a clean flow was obtained. Rates were obtained by altering the surface -chokes and gauging through a 4" critical fl°w prover. A summary of the choke' sizes, pressures and rates are as follows: Choke Bottom Hole Flowing Pressure Rate of Flow 1/4" 3/8- '1/2" il2" 1296'psig. -695 psig'. 495 psig. 742 psig. 912 MCF/D 1940 MCF/D 2180 MCF/D 3140 MCF/D Summary of. Testing Jerations (cont.) -2- Following the flow period, the well was shut in for 4 hours 34 minutes. Representative pressures were: Initial shut in 1675 psi; final shut in 1691 psi; initial, flow 490 psi;' and final flow 742 psi. No for-. mat ion water was recovered and it was concluded from the test that the interval was gas bearing. An analysis of the gas showed it to be primarily methane.. The test of the gas sand was conducted through two strings of cemented casing and a review of the pressure charts obtained while testing indicate improving flow characteristics. The increased rate obtained at the end of the test on a 1/2" choke indicated that additional perforations were contributing to the flow. The final rate obtained shows the sand from 4023-4043' to have a potential in excess of 4000 MCF/D. The test of the interval 4023-4043' was condUcted to determine the fluid content of that zone. On the basis of this test and electric log .evaluation, a total of 175' of sand is concluded to be gas bearing. Upon completion of the. testing program, plugs were placed in the well at 3721-3950' (retainer at 3950'), 2688-2850', and 220-500', capping assembly in place September 13) 1964. In accordance with prudent oil field practice and obvious safety precautions, the well was placed in a shut-in condition with the cement plugs. . 0, 0 ELEV...,...:.:~ ...... .":...Zf ............ Very truly yours, E'BM:m At t achment D/ivis~'gh Production Manager SUMMARY OF TESTING OPERATIONS SHELL-RICHFIELD NORTH COOK INLET STATE NO. 1 After the seven inch casing was cemented at 11,109,' the well was plugged back to 11,050' preparatory to testing operations. The interval 11,001-11,026' was perforated with four jet holes per foot. Drill Stem Test No. 1: 11,.001-11,026', September .6, 1964 With the packer set at 10,950', a 2 hour 44 minute initial shut in was taken and then the tool was opened for a 2 hour 13 minute flow period. A 6019' water cushion was used. An immediate strong blow was observed with the water cushion surfacing in 18 minutes. Oil surfaced after 35 minutes and the flow was directed through a 1/4" surface choke into the testing and gauging facilities. During a 90 minute flow period, 142 barrels of oil flowed at a 2000 psi surface pressure for an average rate of 2270 B/D and 842 MCF/D gas. The oil had'a gravity of 53° A.P.I. with a cut of 0.75% (mostly mud). Following the flow period a 5 hour 37 minute shut in was taken and the well was backscuttled. Representative pressures were: Initial shut in 7617 psi; final shut in 7579 psi; initial flow 4101 psi; and final flow 5526 psi. It was con- cluded from the test that the interval was oil bearing and no formation water was recovered. Prior to a test of the interval 4023-4043' the well was plugged back to 4500'. The interval 4023-4043' was then perforated with two jet holes per foot. Drill Stem Test No. 2: 4023-4043'.~ .September ....... 11~ 1964 With the packer set at 3963', an initial shut in of one hour was taken, followed by a flow period of 3 hours 50 minutes. A water cushion of 500' was used. An instantaneous strong blow was observed with gas surfacing almost immediately. The water cushion surfaced at 13 minutes and the flOw was directed through various chokes until a clean flow was obtained. Rates were obtained by altering the surface chokes and gauging through a 4" critical flow prover. A summary of the choke sizes, pressures and rates are as follows: Choke Bottom Hole Flowing Pressure Rate of Flow 1/4" 1296 psig. 912 MCF/D 3/8" 695 psig. 1940 MCF/D 1/2" 495 psig. 2180 MCF/D 1/2" (final) 742 psig. 3140 MCF/D Summary of Testin~ _ ~rations (cont.) · -2- Following the flow period, the well was shut in for 4 hours 34 minutes. Representative pressures~were: Initial shut in 1675 psi; final shut in 1691 psi; initial, flow 490 psi;~ and final flow 742 psi. No for- mation water was recovered and it was concluded from the test that the interval was gas bearing. An analysis of the gas showed it to be primarily methane. On the basis of this test and electric log evaluation, a total of 175' of sand is concluded to be gas bearing. Upon completion of the~ testing program, plugs were placed in the well at 3721-3950' (retainer at 3950'), 2688-2850', and 220-500', capping assembly, in place September 13, 1964. In accordance with prudent oil field practice and obvious safety precautions, the well was placed in a shut-in condition with the' cement plugs. RECEIVED 'OOT 5 ' DIVISION oF M~Neb & Shell N.
