STREET ANCHORAGe, ALASKA 99501 December 14~ 1966 State of Alaska Division of Mines and Minerals 3001 Porcupine Drive Anchorage, Alaska 99504 ATTENTION: Mr. Thomas R. Marshall, Jr. Gentlemen: We plan to drill an exploratory well in search of oil and/or gas on the east side of K&lgin Island &t the location indicated on the attached plat. Also attached are our Appli- cation for Permit to Drill and our check in the amount of Ss0.0o. We will use our submersible type drilling barge presently located on the north end of Kalgin Island to drill the above said well. We plan to commence operations on the location about December 21, 1966.. We should have our rig on location about January 1~ 1967 and complete our operations about April 1~ 1967. You will note that the location is approximately 100 feet from the boundary of an uplands lease on Kalgin Island. Due to the fact that the type drillin9 barge we will use can only operate in sh&llow water, it is necessary for us to drill near the boundry of this uplands lease. By drilling our Old- man's Bay Well, permit 66-18~ we earned and now own the uplands lease offsetting State of Alaska Lease ADL 018795 on which we are requesting a permit to drill° The ownership and lease numbers for all lands in Section 19, TAN, R15W, Seward Meridian are shown on an ownership plat which is also attached. If you need any additional information please advise.. Very truly yours, HUNT OIL COMPANY ,Thomas A. Collins TAC: blj Enc lo sure cc.: Mr. Jo O. Haynes
