Gentlemen:
APPLICATION FOR SPACE EXCEPTION
UNION OIL OPERATOR TRADING BAY A-3
TRADING BAY FIE.LD, ALASKA
Union Oil Company of California, as operator for the above well, herein
makes application for spacing exception on the Trading Bay A-3 well pur-
suant to Section 2061.1 of the State of Alaska Oil and Gas conservation
Regulations dated July 1964. The requested exception is needed to con-
duct testing for oil and gas in the Kenai sands from a measured depth of
3000 feet to a measured depth of 2100 feet. The testing in this well within
those depths will be conducted within the 500 foot boundary area of the
southwest governmental quarter section, Section 3, T9N R13W SBM. The
Trading Bay A-3 well is drilling from the Trading Bay Platform in an easterly
direction and a plot of the well course and proposed testing intervals are
indicated on the attached plat map and electric log. The Union Oil Company
of California and Marathon Oil Company are the lessees of the contiguous
southeast governmental quarter section in Section 4, the only lands affected
by this exception.
The testing in this well over the above interval is being conducted to de-
termine the intervals necessary for completion from the shallow Kenai sands
and at the time we determine the final completion, we will file a sundry
notice for change of plans on the Trading Bay A-3 well with the Division of
Mines and Minerals. We would appreciate early approval of this applica-
tion for spacing exception and if there is additional data that we can furnish,
plea se let us know.
Sincerely yours,
E. D. B. Laudeman
