The Union Oil Company of California submitted a request dated April 8, 1968, for an exception to 'the 660 feet minimum distance provision of Rule 5(c) of Conservation Order #57 for 'the deviated well, #A-1 Trading Bay State, to produce from three sands in the Middle Kenai Formation that are located, less than 660 feet from producing Middle Kenai Oil Pools in the Union Oil Company of California #A-9 Trading Bay State well. 2. The producing intervals and distance relationship are shown below: Perforated intervals of three sands in the #A-1 well Minimum distance to perforated intervals in #A-9 well 3945 - 4080 530' 4165 - 4225 600' 4275 - 4330 645' 3. The three sands perforated in the Trading Bay State #A-1 well are not present in the Trading Bay State #A-9 well. 4. Texaco, Inc. is the only operator affected by this request. 5. The #A-1 Trading Bay State well is recompleted in the >iiddle Kenai Oil. Pools because the original Hemlock Oil Pool completion is no longer productive. 6. The exploitation of the three sands present in the #A-1 Trading Bay State well will provide for maximum recovery of oil in a portion of a complex reservoir. 7. Notice of the hearing on the request was published in the Anchorage Daily News on April 11, 1968, pursuant to Section 2009 of the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Regulations, but no protest was received. CONSERVATION ORDER #63 Page 2 April 23, 1968 ARq0 IT FURTHER APP~iARING Tt-L\T after due consideration an exception to Rule 5(c) of Conservation Order [/57 pennitting the Union Oil Company of California to produce the #A-1 Trading Bay State well less than 660 feet from the #A-9 Trading Bay State well should be granted because, in the interest of conservation, the most effective use can 'be made of an existing bore hole for the maximum recovery of oil in a very complex reservoir. NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS ORDERED tha't the Union Oil Company of California be permitted to produce the well #A-1 Trading Bay State from three intervals that are less than 660 feet from producing intervals in the well .fA-9 Trading Bay State.
