The Mobil Oil Corporation submitted a request dated May 29, 1968, for an exception to the 3000 feet minimum distance provision of Section 2061(c) of the Oil and Gas Conservation Regulations for the #2 Moquawkie, an exploratory well, to complete asa Moquawkie Field gas well in the possibility that no production is found in the deeper objectives. 2. The subject well, located 3600 FNL and 500 FWL, Section 6, TllN, RllW, S.M., will be about 2571 feet from the Mobil Oil Corporation #1 Moquawkie well. 3. There are no other parties affected by this request. 4. Notice of' the hearing on the request was published in the Anchorage Daily News on June 1, 1968, pursuant to Section 2009 of the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Regulations, but no protest was received. AND IT'FURTHER APPEARING THAT after due consideration an exception to Section 2061(c) of the Oil and Gas Conservation Regulations permitting the Mobil Oil Corporation to complete the #2 Moquawkie as a Moquawkie Field gas.well at a distance less than 3000 feet from the #1 Moquawkie should begranted because the interests of conservation will be served in utilizing a well bore that has been located to explore deeper formations to plug back and produce from a known gas pool. NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS ORDERED that in the event the deeper objectives prove non-productive, the Mobil Oil Corporation be permitted to plug back and complete the #2 Moquawkie as a Moquawkie Field gas well at a distance less than 3000 feet from the #1 Moquawkie well. Marshall Petroleum Supervisor State of Alaska Division of Mines & Minerals 3001 Porcupine Drive Anchorage, Alaska RECEIVED ~0~ Dear Mr. Marshall: We are enclosing in triplicate an Application for Permit to Drill to cover the drilling of our proposed Moquawkie No. 2 Well. Also enclosed is our Draft No. 56180 in the amount of $50.00 to cover the filing fee. As set forth in the application, this well is planned to be a 12,000'+ Hemlock formation test and the proposed location is within the spacing pattern for an exploratory well. However, in anticipation of the possibility that the well may result in finding no production in the deeper objectives but may be capable of being plugged back and completed as a Moquawkie Gas Field well, we hereby request that a spacing exception be granted at this time which would allow for a gas completion at this location. The plat attached to the application sets forth the leaseholders in the sections adjoining the well location, and we will furnish copies of this request to all such adjoining leaseholders. As we are proceeding with plans.to commence drilling the p~oposed well in the near future, your handling of this application as soon as possible is requested. Sincerely, RAG/pjc Enclosures /.
