IT APPEARING THAT:
1. Union Oil Company of California submitted a request dated April 23,
1969, for an emergency order and a permanent order granting an exception
to Section 2061(b) of the Oil and Gas Conservation Regulations for' the
well Trading Bay Unit No. S-2 to produce from perforations that are less
than 500 feet from a property line.
2. The subject well is perforated in an interval that is located between
380' FNL and 664' FWL, Section 35, TION, R13W, S.M. and 545' FNL and
573' FWL, Section 35, TION, R13W, S.M.
3. The Atlantic Richfield Company is the only affected party and by
letter dated April 23, 1969, has stated that the Company has no objections
to the exception requested in the apPlication.
4. An emergency order dated April 25, 1969, was granted permitting the
Operator to produce the referenced well.
5. Notice of the hearing on the request was published in the Anchorage
Daily News on April 26, 1969, but no protest was received.
AND IT 'FURTHER APPEARING THAT after due consideration an exception to
Section 2061(b) of the Oil and Gas Conservation Regulations permitting
the Union Oil Company of California to produce the Trading Bay Unit
No. S-2 well at a distance less than 500 feet from the property line
should be granted because difficulty in maintaining directional control
while drilling resulted in the productive interval being encountered
closer to the property line than had been planned.

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS ORDERED THAT Union Oil Company of California be
permitted to produce the Trading Bay Unit No. S-2 well at a minimum
distance of 380 feet from the property line between the Trading Bay
Unit and lease ADL 35431.
DONE at Anchorage, Alaska, and dated May 10, 1969.

Re: Union Oil Company of California Trading Bay Unit S-2, an offshore
deviated development well.
Notice is hereby given that Union Oil Company of California has
requested the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Committee to issue an order
of exception to the spacing provisions.of Section 2061{b), Title ll, AAC
to produce the referenced well at a subsurface location 380 feet south of
the property line separating the Trading Bay Unit and lease ADL 35431.
Parties who may be aggrieved if the requested order is issued are
allowed ten days from the date of this publication in.Which to file a
protest. Place of filing is 3001 Porcupine Drive, Anchorage, Alaska.
If such protest is timely filed, a hearing on the matter will be held at
the above address on May 9, 1969, .at 9:30 a.m. at which time protestants
and others may be heard. If no such protest is timely filed, the Com-
mittee will consider the issuance of the order without a hearing.

Union Oil Company of California Trading Bay S-2 well
Top of perforated interval 380 feet south and 664 feet east of the
northwest corner of Section 35, TION, R13W, S.M.
Union Oil Company of California .petitioned the Alaska Oil and Gas
Conservation Committee on April '24 'for an order excepting the referenced
well'location from the footage spacing requirements of Section 2061,
Title ll, AAC. In the same petition said company requested an emergency
order to permit ProdUction of the referenced well. The affected operator
has indicated that it has no objection to the exception and orders
requested.
An emergency order is hereby granted pursuant to and in accordance
with Section 2012 of the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Regulations
permitting the production of the referenced well. This emergency order
expires May 10, 1969

Union Oil Company of California, as Operator of the
Trading Bay Unit, has filed an application dated April 23,
1969, requesting an exception to Section 2061 (b) of the
Oil and Gas Conservation Regulations for Trading Bay Unit
S-2 Well. Atlantic Richfield Company is an affected
operator and is furnishing this letter to indicate that
Atlantic Richfield Company has no objection to the exception
and orders requested in said application.

Gentlemen'
Pursuant to the Oil and Gas Conservation Regulations and applicable Statutes
of the State of Alaska, Union Oil Company of California, as Operator under
the Trading Bay Unit Agreement, hereby requests an emergency order be issued
allowing an exception to Section 2061 (b) of said Regulations. Difficulty in
maintaining directional control while drilling the Trading Bay Unit S-2 well
resulted in a portion of the perforated interval being Within 500 feet of the
property line separating the Trading Bay Unit and lease ADL 35431. Set forth
below are the coordinates of the top and base of the perforated interval:

other completed and drilling wells on the property and all adjoining surrounding
properties and wells.
It is requested this also be considered as application for a permanent order
allowing exception to Section 2061 (b) upon expiration of any emergency order
