The Atlantic Richfield Company submitted an application dated August 20, 1970, requesting the referenced order. . A notice of public hearing was published in the Anchorage Daily News on September 3, 1970, pursuant to Title 11 Alaska Administra- tive Code, Section 2009, but no protest was received. . Conservation Order No. 83-B, Rule 2, does not permit any pay open to well bore to be closer than 1,500 ft. to a property line where ownership changes. 4o A letter has been received indicating that British Petroleum Corpora- tion, the owner of the offsetting lease, does not object to the completion of the referenced well at the referenced location. AND IT FURTHER APPEARING THAT: . Directional drilling control problems resulted in the bore hole of this well not reaching its programmed objective and to correct the bore hole location would involve very difficult and expensive measures. 0 Completing the subject well at the proposed location will not reduce ultimate recovery. CONSERVATION ORDER NO. 96 Page 2 September 23, 1970 · No correlative rights will be impaired if the completion is permitted. NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS ORDERED THAT the Atlantic Richfield Company be permitted to complete the referenced well at a location not closer than 1,200 ft. to the property line where ownership changes. P. O. Box 4-CCC Anchorage, Alasl,,.a 99503 Attention' Mr. A. K. Howard Subject' Drill Site Ilo. 2-3 ('23-31-11-15) Sec. 31, TllN, R15E, UM Due to unavoidable difficulties while drilling the above well, we drilled within the 1500 foot spacin? ruling allowed for the Prudhoe Bay Sadlerochit Oil Pool. By following the present course, we anticipate that we will "bottom" appr~ximately 1200 feet from the NE corner 6f Section 1, TION, R14E, UM. The proposed bottom hole location could be attained, however, much time and expense would be required. .I explained the situation ~o your Mr. Robert Stoneley -on August 18, 1970, who suggested that we prepare a letter to be subrnitted to the Oil and Gas Division stat- ing that you have no objection to us completing our well within the 1500 foot boundary. We would appreciate your signing the attached copy of this letter, thus signifying your approval, and forwarctina, it to Hr. Homer Burrell of the State. We are enclosing a plat of Drill Site No. 2 st'~ov,,in,c! the proposed bottom hole location of Well No.'2-3'and OLlr predicted bottom hole location. Veo, truly yours, " r~ .~. J. A. The situation could be corrected; however, excessive measures would have to be taken with much time and expense involved. With approx- imately 1000 feet remaining to drill, our present pre- diction is that we will encounter the producing zone approximately 1200 feet from the NE corner of the sec- tion., 3 ENG 4 ENG 5 ENG 2 GEOL 3 GEOL-'Jr REV J DRAFT SEC J CONFER: FILE: CO, C~(~ ,, In that this situation violates Conservation Order No. 83-B for the Prudhoe Bay Sadlerochit Oil Pool, we are requesting exception to the Order so that we may complete our well without going to great additional expense. We have discussed the problem with BP and they do not object to our completing the well within 1200 feet of the corner of their section. BP will be forwarding a letter to the Division of Oil and Gas giving their official word that they have no objection to our present course of action. We are enclosing a plat of Drill Site No. 2 showing the proposed bottom hole location of 2-3 and where we predict the bottom will be located. Very truly yours, R.
