West Kurupa Unit No.1 Well
March 20, 1975
IT APPEARING THAT:
1. Texaco Inc. submitted the referenced application dated
March 6, 1975.
2. The referenced location lies 180 feet from a property line. The
referenced regulation requires a location to be a minimum of 500 feet
from a property line.
3. Notice of hearing on this request was published in the Anchorage
Daily News on March 10, 1975 pursuant to Title 11, Alaska Administra-
tive Code, Section 22.540, and no protest was received.
FINDINGS:
1. It is necessary to place this bottom hole location less than
500 feet from a property line so that the location is in the optimum
topographic position for the testing of the geological objective.
CONCLUSION:
1. Granting the applicant's request will not result in waste or impair
correlative rights of affected parties.
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS ORDERED THAT:
Texaco Inc. may locate the West Kurupa Unit No.1 well less than
500 feet from the property lines at the referenced location.

Mr. Thomas Marshall
Executive Secretary

Committee

Dear Mr. Marshall:
Please refer to Application for Permit to Drill
filed with your office by Amoco Production Company on
October 2, 1974, for the drilling of the West Kurupa Unit
well #1 at a location as follows~ 182' FWL, 1351' FNL,
Sec. 33, T6S, R14W, UPM.
This is to advise that Amoco Production Company,
Union Oil Company of California and Texaco Inc. have entered
into an agreement whereby Texaco will perform as operator
for the drilling of this well. Please find attached a
Designation of Operator executed by Amoco Production Com-
pany and filed with Mr. Rodney Smith, Area oil and Gas
Supervisor, u.S. Geological Survey, Anchorage, Alaska, in
which Texaco Inc. is designated as operator £or this well
located on U.S. Lease F-034988. Also attached please find
a portion of a plat showing surrounding lease owners and
the proposed location of the well.
Chapter 22, Section 11, AAC 22.055(1), provides
that no exploratory well shall be located closer than 500'
to any property line of the lease on which the well is
located. Texaco Inc. hereby requests exception to this
provision as the above mentioned proposed location is
considered to be necessary because of the topography of the
area. The proposed location is on a relatively flat area,
will require substantially less gravel to construct, and
will result in substantially less environmental change.
Therefore,Texaco Inc., Operator, requests your consent to
the drilling of the proposed well at the above described
location.
Mr. Thomas Marshall
