The Atlantic Richfield Company submitted the referenced applica- tion dated April 20, 1976. 2. The pay in the referenced deviated well is approximately 1800 feet from the closest point of the pay in the E-2 well. The referenced order requires a minimum of 2000 feet between wells to any pay in the same pool opened to the well bore of another well . 3. Directional control problems were encountered which resulted in the hole not reaching the planned objective. 4. Both wells are owned by the same operator. 5. The bottom hole location of the E-6 well is 3069 feet south of the north line and 2336 feet west of the east line at Section 6, Township llN, Range 14E, U.P.M. 6. Notice of hearing on this request was published in the Anchorage Daily News on April 30, 1976 pursuant to Title 11, Alaska Administrative Code, Section 22.540, and no protest was received. FINDINGS: 1. It is necessary to complete the referenced well less than 2000 feet from another completion in the same pool in order to utilize an existing well bore. CONCLUSION: 1. Granting the applicant's request will not result in waste or impair correlative rights of affected parties. NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS' ORDERED THAT: The Atlantic Richfield Company may complete the E-6 well approximately 1800 feet from the E-2 well. ) Conservation Order No. 140 Page 2 May 25, 1976 DONE at Anchorage, Alaska and dated May 25, 1976. ,........---..::"';- á ~ 'Lotl,1( -, ,/,,,1',.....................;:.::: "'~~ 'e> >..... ..., '\¡~) ;'}/>/¡;í,\1 ((,I,U,'!,'.j ~Ç\ .:/- ,I. , " .' ,,\.t ""._~ I\{" 1 '!', \~ I,·.~·:'.l//~./ ¡,·t (~~¡,tr', ..'. ,(,~::.'}'} ij> ,'..... \'-' ï I, ".' The operator states that while drilling the subject well, directional control problems were encountered and, as a result, the subject well bottomed approximately 1,800 feet from the bottom of the operator's Prudhoe Bay No. E-2 well. At the top of the Sag River sandstone in the Prudhoe Oil Pool the two wells are 1,700 feet apart. The exception is requested so that the subject well can be perforated. Parties who may be aggrieved if the requested order is issued are allowed 10 days from the date of this publication in which to file a protest and request for hearing. Place of filing is 3001 Porcupine Drive, Anchorage, Alaska 99501. If such a protest is timely filed, a hearing on the matter will be held at the above address at 9:00 AM, May 12, 1976 at which time protestants and others may be heard. If no such protest is timely filed, the Committee wil consider the issuance of the order without a hearing. ::L ¡( /Ø~J-.JÆ L. Thos. R. Gilbreth State of Alaska Department of Natural Resources Division of Oil and Gas 3001 Porcupine Drive Anchorage, AK 99501 Subject: E-6 (33-06-11-14) Permit No. 76-23 Dear Sir: Enclosed is Form 10-403, Sundry Notices and Reports on Wells, containing our proposal to re-enter Well E.....6 for completion. Perforating of this well would result in a violation of the Prudhoe Bay Field Rules, Rule 2 of Conservation Order No.. 130, which states, "... nor shall any pay opened to the well J:x>re... be closer than 2,000 feet to any pay in the same pool opened to well rore of another well." At 8,800' subsea, this well is 1,802 feet from the 8,800' subsea depth in Well E-2 (34-06-11-14) as per ~1e gyro- scopic surveys of each well. At the top of the Sag River Sandstone, the two. wells are 1,700 feet apart. A request is hereby made, concurrently with the submittal of the attached Sundry Notice, to obtain an exception to Rule 2. We request approval of the attached Sundry Notice at this time and would like to have the request for the exception started. We understand that an exception to Rule 2, noted aJ::cve, will require that this be given, public notice. Gilbreth Page April 19, 1976 As shown on the Application for Permit to Drill E-6 compared to the Completion Report for E- 2, the tV'P wells were intended to be greater than 2,000 feet apart; however, during the course of directional drilling WellE-6 circumstances arose causing the pro:¡;x::>sed subsurface target to be missed. 'lb the best of our knowledge, this well is the only ~ll in the BP....operated portion of the field to be in violation of Rule 2; therefore, we feel that the purposes of the spacing rule WJuld not be contravened if an exception is granted.
