There were no protests to the application. FINDING: The Prudhoe Bay Unit No. Q-7 well was drilled to a measured depth of 12,275 feet but the actual bottom hole location was several hundred feet southeast of the proposed bottom hole location. There is gas and oil in the Sadlerochit Formation which is part of the Prudhoe Oil Pool. CONCLUSION: The requested exception to Rule 2 of Conservation Order No. 145 will not affect the ultimate recovery of oil and gas from the Prudhoe Oil Pool and correlative rights are adequately protected in the Prudhoe Bay Unit. NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS ORDERED THAT: The Prudhoe Bay Unit No. Q-7 well may be completed and produced from the Prudhoe Oil Pool at the location now existing. NOtice is hereby given that Sohio Petroleum Company has requested the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission to issue an order granting an exception for the referenced well from Rule 2 of Conservation Order No. 145 which requires a minimum distance of 2000 feet between any pay opened to the well bore in the Prudhoe Oil Pool. Due to circumstances that arose during the directional drilling of the referenced well, the proposed subsur- face target was missed. In order to utilize the existing well bore, Sohio Petroleum Company requests an order permitting the well to be perforated at a distance of approximately 1700 feet from the Prudhoe Bay Unit No. D-3 well. The subsurface locations of the two wells are in Section 14, TllN, R13E, Umiat Meridian. Parties who may be aggrieved if the referenced order is issued are allowed 10 days from the date of this publication in which to file a protest and a request for a hearing. FILF:- Gentlemen: Please find attached' in triplicate form 10-403, Sundry Notices and Reports on Wells, containing our proposal to perforate Well Q-7 for production. Perforating of this well wo~ild result in a violation of the Prudhoe Bay Field Rules, Rule 2 of Conservation Order No. 130, which states, ~'...nor shall any pay opened to the well bore...be closer than 2 .~000 feet to any pay in the same pool opened to well bore of another well." At the deepest (closest) perforations, the well is 1712 feet from a similar point in Well D-3 (.23-14-11-.13) as per the gyroscopic surveys of each well. As shown on the Application for Permit to drill Q-7 com- pared to the Completion Report for Well D-3, the two wells were in- tended to be greater than 2000 feet apart; however, during the course of directional drilling Well Q-7, circumstances arose causing the proposed subsurface target to be missed. We would like to apply for an exception to the footage spacing re- quiremants of Rule 2 of Conservation Order No. 130 to permit the perforation of Well _Q-7 approximately 1700 feet from Well D-3 in order to utilize an existing well bore. col ' cc: Mike Smith Drilling File CC~ 9679
