IT APPEARING THAT:
·
BP Exploration (Alaska) Inc. (BPX) submitted an application
on August 29, 1990 requesting an exception to
20 AAC 25.055(a)(3) to permit the drilling of Sag Delta
North #1 well closer than 500' from a drilling unit
boundary.
·
Notice of hearing on this request was published in the
Anchorage Daily News on August 30, 1990 pursuant to
20 AAC 25.540.
3. No protests to the application were received.
FINDINGS:
·
BPX proposes to drill Sag Delta North #1 from a surface
location 2011' from the north line (FNL) and. 2284' from the
east line (FEL) of Section 36, T12N, R16E, Umiat Meridian,
to a bottomhole location 4911'FNL, 3212'FEL, Section 19,
T12N, R17E, Umiat Meridian.
·
Top of the productive interval is expected to be 5240'FNL,
3380'FEL, Section 19, T12N, R17E, Umiat Meridian.
·
An exception is necessary to achieve compliance with
20 AAC 25.055(a)(3).

Offset operator/owners have been duly notified and have
filed no objection.

CONCLUSION:
Granting a spacing exception to allow drilling of the BPX
Sag Delta North #1 well as proposed will not result in waste nor
jeopardize correlative rights.
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS ORDERED:
BPX Exploration (Alaska) Inc.'s application for an exception to
20 AAC 25.055 for the purpose of drilling the Sag Delta North #1
well is approved as proposed.
DONE at Anchorage, Alaska and dated September 20, 1990.

Dear Commissioner Smith:
BP Exploration (Alaska), Inc. ("BPX") hereby applies for an exception to the
provisions of 20 AAC 25.055 for the drilling of the Sag Delta North #1 Well (the
"Well"). Relevant location data for the Well is as follows:
(1) Surface Location: Existing Endicott MPI Well Slot, T12N R16E UM
Sec. 36 swne on BPX oil and gas lease ADL 34633.
(2) Departure from Surface Location to Bottom Hole Location: 8170 ft.
N27OE.
(3) Top of Target Location: 5240 ft. FNL, 3380 ft. FEL, Section 19, T12N,
R17E UM on BP Exploration oil and gas lease ADL 312828.
(4) Bottom Hole Location: 4605 ft. FNL, 3056 ft. FEL Section 19, T12N,
R17E UM on BP Exploration oil and gas lease ADL 312828.
(5) Total Depth: 10325 ft. SS TVD
There is a potential for production from the top of the target location to the well
bottom Hole location.
The owner and operator of all governmental quarter sections directly and
diagonally offsetting the proposed location of the Well is BP Exploration
(Alaska) Inc. and the United States of America. The plat required by the
regulation is attached as Exhibit 1. The verification required by the regulation is
attached as Exhibit 2. Copies of the notifications to the owners and operators,
as well as the required information with respect to mailing are attached in the
package designated as Exhibit 3.

1. My name is Stuart H. Hirsh. I am over 19 years old and have
personal knowledge of the matters set forth herein.
2. 1 am a Senior Landman for the well operator, BP Exploration
(Alaska) Inc.
3. Pursuant to 20 AAC 25.055 (b), BP Exploration (Alaska) Inc.
(BPX), the well operator, prepared a Notice of Request for an Exception
to the Provision of 20 AAC 25.055. A copy of this notice is attached
hereto as Exhibit A.
4. On August 29, 1990, pursuant to 20 AAC 25.055 (b) BPX sent
a copy of said notice by registered mail to the last known address of
each owner and operator of governmental quarter sections directly
and diagonally offsetting the quarter section of the proposed location
of the oil well. Attached hereto as Exhibit B is an Affidavit of Mailing
of Notice.

The application of BP Exploration (Alaska) Inc. for
exception to 20 AAC 25.055 for Sag Delta North No. 1.
BP Exploration (Alaska) Inc. by letter dated August 29, 1990
has requested an exception to the provisions of 20 AAC 25.055.
The exception would allow drilling and completion of the Sag
Delta North #1 exploratory well to a location closer than 500
feet from the boundary of a governmental quarter section. The
well is to be drilled to a bottom-hole location 4605 feet from
the north line and 3056 feet from the east line of Section 19,
Township 12 North, Range 17 East, Umiat Meridian.
A person who may be harmed if the requested order is issued
may file a written protest prior to 4:00 pm September 14, 1990
with the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission, 3001 Porcu-
pine Drive, Anchorage, Alaska 99501, and request a hearing on the
matter. If the protest is timely filed, and raises a substantial
and material issue crucial to the Commission's determination, a
hearing on the matter will be held at the above address at
9:00 am on October 2, 1990 in conformance with 20 AAC 25.540. If
a hearing is to be held, interested parties may confirm this by
calling the Commission's office, (907) 279-1433, after
September 14, 1990. If no proper protest is filed, the Commis-
sion will consider the issuance of' the order without a hearing.
