IT APPEARING THAT:

Conoco Inc. submitted an application dated December 11, 1991
requesting an exception to 20 AAC 25.055(a)(1) to allow drilling
the Northwest Milne No. 1 exploratory well closer than 500 feet to
a drilling unit boundary.
Notice of hearing was published in the Anchorage Daily News and
the Anchorage Times on De·ember 17, 1991 pursuant to
20 ACC 25.5.40 and in the Alaska Administrative Journal
December 23, 1991.
3. No protests to the application were received.
FINDINGS:

The Conoco Northwest No. 1 well as proposed will be a straight
hole drilled from a surface location 2299 feet from the north line
(FNL), 1042 feet from the east line (FEL) of Section 23, T14N,
RgE, Umiat Meridian.

Offset operators/owners Amerada Hess Corporation, Chevron
U.S.A. Inc. and Maxus Exploration Co. have been duly notified.

An exception to 20 AAC 25.055(a)(1) is necessary to allow drilling
of the well.

CONCLUSION:
Granting a spacing exception to allow drilling of the Conoco Northwest
Milne No. 1 well as proposed will not result in waste nor jeopardize
correlative rights.
NOW, THEREFORE IT IS ORDERED:
Conoco Inc.'s application for an exception to 20 AAC 25.055 for the
purpose of drilling the Northwest Milne No. 1 well is approved as
proposed.

oil well.
ARCO Alaska, Inc. by letter dated December 5, 1991 has
requested an exception to the provisions of 20 AAC 25.055. The
exception would allow drilling the ARCO Fiord No. 1 exploratory well
from a surface location closer than 500 feet from the boundary of a
drilling unit. The proposed location is 514' from the south line (FSL)
and 262' from the west line (FWL) of section 2, T12N, R5E, Umiat
Meridian.
A person who may be harmed if the requested order is issued,
may file a written protest prior to 4:00 pm December 30, 1991 with the
Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission, 3001 Porcupine Drive,
Anchorage, Alaska 99501, and request a hearing on the matter. If the

A second set of-hearings on January 17 will begin at 5:15 p.m. in
Whittier, Valdez, Cordova and Tatitlelc, with the communities con-
nected by teleconference. Barring weather or other difficulties, at
least one Commission or staff member will be in Valdez, Cordova and
Whittier. The hearings will be at the following locations, with testi-
mony at the times shown: Whittier, Kittiwake Room, 5:15 p.m.;
Valdez Civic Center Conference Room, 6:15 p.m.; Cordova Library
Meeting Room, 7:15 p.m.; Tatitlek Council Office, 8:15 p.m. The
Commission will take additional testimony from each community at
the end of the evening, if there are witnesses who could not be heard
during the originally scheduled hour.
