IT APPEARING THAT:

Exxon Exploration Company submitted an application dated
November 23, 1992 requesting an exception to
20 AAC 25.055(a) (1) to allow drilling the Exxon Thetis Island
No. 1 exploratory oil well closer than 500 feet to a drilling unit
boundary.

Notice of hearing was published in the Anchorage Daily News on
December 5, 1992 pursuant to 20 ACC 25.540 and in the Alaska
Administrative Journal on December 14, 1992.
3. No protests to the application were received.
FINDINGS:
I ·
The Exxon Thetis Island No. 1 well as proposed will be a straight
hole drilled from a surface location 2326 feet from the north line
(FNL), 75 feet from the east line (FEL) of Section 19, T14N,
RSE, Umiat Meridian.

Offset operators/owners Amerada Hess Corporation, Chevron USA,
Inc. and Placid Oil Company have been duly notified.

An exception to 20 AAC 25.055 (a) (1) is necessary to allow
drilling of the well.
CONCLUSION:
Granting a spacing exception to allow drilling of the Exxon Thetis
Island No. I well as proposed will not result in waste nor jeopardize
correlative rights.
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS ORDERED:
Exxon Exploration Company's [ARCO Alaska, Inc.'s] application for an
exception to 20 AAC 25.055 for the purpose of drilling the ExxOn Thetis
Island No. I well is approved as proposed.
DONE at Anchorage, Alaska and dated December 31, 1992 and revised
January 22~ 1993.

Re: The application of Exxon Exploration Company for exception to

exploratory oil well.
Exxon Exploration Company, by correspondence dated
November 23, 1992 has requested an exception to the provisions of
20 AAC 25.055(a)(1) for the drilling of an exploratory oil well on Thetis
Island in Harrison Bay.
The exception would allow drilling the Thetis Island No. 1
exploratory oil well to a location closer than 500 feet from a quarter
section line. The proposed surface location is 2,326 feet from the north
line (FNL) 75 feet from the east line (FEL), Section 19, T14N, R8E,
Umiat Meridian and the proposed bottom-hole location is 2,326 feet FNL,
75 feet FEL, Section 19, T14N, R8E, Umiat Meridian
A person who may be harmed if the requested order is issued
may file a written protest prior to 4:00 pm December 21, 1992 with the
Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission, 3001 Porcupine Drive,
Anchorage, Alaska 99501, and request a hearing on the matter. If the
protest is timely filed and raises a substantial and material issue crucial
to the Commission's determination, a hearing on the matter will be held
at the above address at 1:00 pm on January 5, 1993 in conformance
with 20 AAC 25.540. If a hearing is to be held, interested parties may
confirm this by calling the Commission's office, (907) 279-1433, after
December 21, 1992. If no protest is filed, the Commission will consider
the issuance of the order without a hearing.

Exxon Exploration, Co. hereby applies for and exception to the provisions of 20 AAC 25.055 for the
drilling of the Thetis Island #1, for which the proposed location is:
(1) Surface Location: 2326' FNL, 75' FEL, Section 19,
Township 14N, Range 8E, Umiat Meridian
(2) Intersection with Top of Target Interval: Same
(3) Total Depth: Same
The owners of all governmental quarter sections directlY and diagonally offsetting the proposed
location to the well consist of Amerada Hess Corp., Chevron USA, Inc., and Placid Oil Company.
Exxon Exploration Co. will act as operator in drilling this well at the proposed location.

This well is planned as a straight hole with a total depth of approximately 10,000'. The 'nearest
