IT APPEARING THAT:

ARCO Alaska, Inc. submitted an application dated December 9, 1992
requesting an exception to 20 AAC 25.055(a)(1) to allow drilling the ARCO
Jones Island No. 1 exploratory oil well closer than 500 feet to a drilling unit
boundary.

Notice of hearing was published in the Anchorage Daily News on
December 16, 1992 pursuant to 20 AAC 25.540.
3. No protests to the application were received.
FINDINGS:

The ARCO Jones Island No. 1 well, as proposed, will be directionally drilled
from a surface location 2254 feet from the south line (FSL), 1841 feet from
the west line (FWL), of Section 28, T14N, R11E, Umiat Meridian, to a
bottom-hole location 24 feet from the north line (FNL), 1704 feet from the
east line (FEL), of Section 21, T14N, R11E, Umiat Meridian.

Offset operators/owners Hunt Petroleum Corp., Texaco Inc., Rosewood
Resources Inc., Amerada Hess Corp., and Union Texas Petroleum Corp.
have been duly notified.
3. An exception to 20 AAC 25.055(a)(1 ) is necessary to allow drilling of the well.

CONCLUSION:
Granting a spacing exception to allow drilling of the ARCO Jones Island No. 1 well
as proposed will not result in waste nor jeopardize correlative rights.
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS ORDERED:
ARCO Alaska, Inc.'s application for an exception to 20 AAC 25.055 for the purpose
of drilling the Jones Island No. 1 well is approved as proposed.
DONE at Anchorage, Alaska and dated January 5, 1993.

Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission
Re: The application of ARCO Alaska Inc for exception to 20 AAC 25.055 to
allow drilling the Jones Island Unit No. 1 exploratory oil well.
ARCO Alaska Inc, by correspondence dated December9, 1992, has
requested an exception to the provisions of 20 AAC 25.055(a)(1) for the drilling
of an exploratory oil well in the Jones Islands vicinity north of Milne Point Unit.
The exception would allow drilling the Jones Island Unit No. 1 exploratory
oil well to a location closer than 500 feet from a quarter section line. The
proposed surface location is 2254 feet from the south line (FSL) and 1841 feet
from the west line (FVVL) of Section 28, T14N, RllE, Umiat Meridian (UM), and
the proposed target location is 24 feet from the north line (FNL) and 1704 feet
from the east line (FEL) of Section21, T14N, R11E, UM, and the proposed
bottom-hole location is 106 feet FSL and 1677 feet FEL of Section 16, T14N,
R11E, UM.
A person who may be harmed if the requested order is issued may file a
written protest prior to 4:00 pm December 31, 1992 with the Alaska Oil and Gas
Conservation Commission, 3001 Porcupine Drive, Anchorage, AK 99501, and
request a hearing on the matter. If the protest is timely filed, and raises a
substantial and material issue crucial to the Commission's determination, a
hearing on the matter will be held at the above address at 1:00 pm January 15,
1993 in conformance with 20 AAC 25.540. If a hearing is to be held, interested
parties may confirm this by calling the Commission's office, at (907) 279-1433,
after December 31, 1992. If no proper protest is filed, the Commission will
consider the issuance of an order without a hearing.
