Conservation Order No. 308A
UNOCAL Corporation
Ivan River Unit 44-36
Gas Development Well
February 5, 1993
IT APPEARING THAT:
I ·
UNOCAL Corporation submitted an application dated December 22,
1992 requesting an exception to 20 AAC 25.055 (a)(4) to allow
drilling the Ivan River Unit 14-31 RD No. I gas development well
closer than 1500 feet from the boundary of a drilling unit and to
within 3,000 feet of another well capable of producing from the
same pool.
2. Notice of hearing was published in the Anchorage Daily News on
December 29, 1992 pursuant to 20 AAC 25.540.
3. No protests to the application were received.
·
UNOCAL Corporation through correspondence dated February 3,
1993 has canceled its plans to drill Ivan River Unit 14-31RD No. 1
well to the approved spacing exception location and instead
requests that the provisions of Conservation Order No. 308 be
aPplied to Ivan River Unit 44-36.

FINDINGS:
·
·
·
Conservation Order No. 308 issued January 19, 1993, granted a
spacing exception for the Ivan River Unit 14-31 RD No. 1 gas
development well to allow drilling to a proposed bottomhole location
in Section 36, T14N, R9W, SM.
The Ivan River Unit 44-36 well as proposed will be directionally
drilled from a proposed surface location 742 feet from the south
line (FSL) and 777 feet from the east line (FEL) of Section 1,
T13N, R9W Seward Meridian (SM). The proposed bottomhole
location is 209 feet FSL and 791 feet FEL of Section 36, T14N, R9W
SM.
An exception to 20 AAC 25.055 (a)(4) is necessary to allow drilling
of the Ivan River Unit 44-36 well.
The proposed bottomhole location of the Ivan River Unit 44-36 is
within the same quarter, quarter section as previously approved
for spacing exception under Conservation Order No. 308 for the
Ivan River Unit 14-31 RD No. 1 well.
CONCLUSION:
·
·
The proximity of the proposed bottomhole location of Ivan River
Unit 44-36 and the previously proposed and approved bottomhole
location of Ivan River Unit 14-31 RD No. 1 is such that the intent
and provisions of Conservation Order No. 308 may be applied to
the Ivan River Unit 44-36 spacing exception.
Granting a spacing exception to allow drilling of the Ivan River
Unit 44-36 well as proposed will not result in waste nor jeopardize
correlative rights.

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS ORDERED:
UNOCAL Corporation's application for an exception to 20 AAC 25.055 for
the purpose of drilling the Ivan River Unit 44-36 well is approved as
proposed.
Conservation Order No. 308 is hereby revoked and Conservation Order
308A is issued in its place.
