Yukon Gold Exploratory Oil Well March 31, 1993 Revised September 30, 1993 IT APPEARING THAT: I · BP Exploration (Alaska), Inc. submitted an application dated February 25, 1993 req.uesting an exception to 20 AAC 25.055 (a)(1) to allow drilling the BP Yukon Gold exploratory oil well closer than 500 feet to a drilling unit boundary. 2~ Notice of hearing was published in the Anchorage Daily News on March 9, 1993 'pursuant to 20 AAC 25.540. 3. No protests to the application were received. FINDINGS: I · The BP Yukon Gold. well as proposed will be a deviated [straight] hole drilled from a surface location 5061 feet from the north line (FNL) and 4640 feet from the east line (FEL) Section 13~ TSN, R23E~ Umiat Meridian [108 feet from the north line and 141 feet from the east line of Section 23, T8N, R23E, Umiat Meridian] to a bottomhole location of 108 (FNL) and 141 (FEL)~ Section 23~ TSN~ R23E~ Umiat Meridian. Offset operator/owner Union Oil Company of California has been duly notified. CONCLUSION: Granting a spacing exception to allow drilling of the BP Yukon Gold well as proposed will not result in waste nor jeopardize correlative rights. NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS ORDERED: BP Exploration (Alaska), Inc.'s application for an exception to 20 AAC 25.055 for the purpose of drilling the Yukon Gold well is approved as proposed. BP Exploration (Alaska) Inc. by letter dated February 25, 1993, has requested an exception to the provision of 20 AAC 25.055 (a)(1) for the drilling of the BP Yukon Gold exploratory oil well. The exception would allow BP Exploration to drill the BP Yukon Gold exploratory oil well to a location closer than 500 feet from a quarter section line. The proposed surface and bottom-hole locations are 108' from the north line and 141' from the east line of Section 23, Township 8 North, Range 23 East, Umiat Meridian. A person who may be harmed if the requested order is issued may file a written protest prior to 4:00 PM March 24, 1993 with the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission, 3001 Porcupine Drive, Anchorage, Alaska 99501, and request a hearing on the matter. If the protest is timely filed and raises a substantial and material issue crucial to the Commission's determination, a hearing on the matter will be held at the above address at 9:00 am on April 14, 1993 in conformance with 20 AAC 25.540. If a hearing is to be held, interested parties may confirm this by calling the Commission's office, (907) 279-1433 after March 24, 1993.
