Assuming a constant bottom hole pressure is applied while c:rculating out the gas kick. A conservative esnmate would be the maximum surface pressure plus the hydrostatic pressure at the Shoe Depth (Dshoe). Use inlet water to drill the 13 3/8" cement, float collar and casing shoe. 2. Drill the first part of the 12 1/,, interval with inlet water and viscosified sweeps. . Displace to Mapco 200 oil base mud in open hole. Displacement depth should be between 2000' and 3000'. If possible displacement should occur at the beginning of a new bit run. 4. Displacement Procedure: NOTE: Use large mesh shaker screens (30-40) during displacement and for up to two circulations thereafter. Monitor pump strokes and pump rates continuously during displacement. a. Conduct a rig team meeting discussing all aspects of displacement. NOTE: Rig operations should dictate optimum displacement time. b. Pump a 50 bbl brine viscous sweep. Pump a 25 bbl Mapco 200 oil mud viscous sweep. Pump oil mud system stored in beam tank from GP53. c, Displace in turculent flow ~.-' possible. d. Reciprocate and rotate driii pipe. DM-230 (61261971BM) 2 . Drill the 12 Y," section to T.D. If there are indications that a cuttings bed has been deposited in the wellbore, the most effective method to clean the cuttings bed is with mechanical agitation by rotating and reciprocating the drill string. Maintaining high Iow shear rate rheologies will minimize the formation of a cuttings bed. Low shear rate rheologies will minimize the formation of a cuttings bed. Low shear rate rheologies can be elevated with Versamod, Versa HRP, Alcomer 274 and VG-69. If required, pump high mud weight/high viscosity sweeps. The 6 and 3 rpm should be maintained at values greater than 13. 6. Optimize mixing of "dry jobs" in order to minimize the number of wet trips and any unnecessary increase in mud weight. OIL MUD MIXING PROCEDURES 7. Build Mapco 200 oil mud system utilizing the following recommendations: a. Premix and store 10.8 ppg calcium chloride brine. b. Place Mapco 200 oil in clean mixing tank. c. Add VG-69 and lime slowly through shear pump to minimize bailing. Shear for 30 minutes. d. Add primary emulsifier, Versacoat. e. Blend for a minimum of 30 minutes. f. Add calcium chloride brine. Blend for a minimum of 30 minutes. h. Add Versawet/check rheology/add Versamod. i. Add barite to required mud weight. j. Blend for a minimum of 30 minutes. NOTE: The most important aspect in mixing an oil mud is the amount of mixing energy put into the fluids while the brine is being added. The more shear put into the fluid the smaller the water droplets become and the more viscous the fluid. The emulsions become more stable as more shear is put into the fluid. 8. After reaching TD, condition the hole for logging by rotating and reciprocating the drill string. If required, pump high mud weight/high viscosity sweeps. 9. Run and cement the 9 5/8" casing. lO.Clean 9 5/8" casing and drill 8 ~,~" hole. Mud weights should be kept as Iow as possible. Centrifuge 8 1/2" hole mud and add Mapco 200 to reduce mud weight. DM-229 (61261971BM) 3 11. Maintain Iow shear rate values with VG-69, Versamod, Alcomer 274 and Versa HRP. Run and cement 7" casing.
