Re: Application for Exception to 20 AAC 25.055
PTU-15 Well
Dear Commission Seamount:
Exxon Mobil Corporation (ExxonMobil) requests a spacing exception under 20 AAC
25.055(a) to drill the Point Thomson PTU-15 well within 1,500 feet of the North property line
of lease ADL 47559. The PTU-15 well will be drilled into the Thomson Sand gas condehsate
reservoir and used as a gas injection or producing well in development of the reservoir.
Pertinent information on the well is set forth below.
The surface and bottomhole locations of the deviated PTU-15 well are within State of Alaska
lease ADL 47559 as shown below:
Surface Hole Location: 950 ' FSL, 855' FEL, S. 34 , T1 ON ,R23E, UM
Top Productive Intervals 1047' FNL, 1000' FWL, S. 27, T10N ,R23E, UM
Bottom Productive Interval 749' FNL, 867' FWL, S. 27, T10N ,R23E, UM
Bottom Hole Location 749' FNL, 867' FWL, S. 27, T10N ,R23E, UM
ExxonMobil has chosen this location to optimize development of and recovery from the
Thomson Sand reservoir. The PTU-15 is intended as the injector well for IPS development.
ExxonMobil is applying for a spacing exception to allow use of the well as a potential
producer for development of the pool.
The attached PTU Central Pad Well Location Plat (Exhibit 1) shows the PTU-15 wellbore,
the portion of the wellbore for which the spacing exception is being requested and the
relationship of the PTU-15 well to other existing and proposed wells and lease lines.
ADL 377020 was issued effective August 1, 1991, for the area to the north of ADL 47559.
The Alaska Department of Natural Resources issued a decision dated August 4, 2008, that
ADL 377020 expired in December 2006. ExxonMobil, a 66.67% working interest owner of
the lease, appealed that decision to Alaska Superior Court. No other working interest owner
in the lease appealed the decision. The proceeding currently is stayed as to ADL 377020.
