IT APPEARING THAT:
I ·
ARCO Alaska, Inc. submitted an application dated December 5,
1991 requesting an exception to 20 AAC 25.055(a)(1) to allow
drilling the ARCO Fiord No. 1 exploratory well closer than 500
feet to a drilling unit boundary.
Notice of hearing was published in the Anchorage Daily News and
the Anchorage Times on De·ember 14, 1991 pursuant to
20 ACC 25.540 and in the Alaska Administrative Journal
De·ember 23, 1991,
3. No protests to the application were received.
FINDINGS:
I ·
The ARCO Fiord No. I well as proposed will be a straight hole
drilled from a surface location 514 feet from the south line (FSL),
262 feet from the west line (FWL) of Section 2, T12N, R5E, Umiat
Meridian.

Offset operators/owners Hunt Petroleum Corp., Texaco Producing,
Inc., Nelson Bunker Trust Estate, Lamar Hunt Trust Estate,
Maxus Exploration Co., Rosewood Resources Inc., Amerada Hess
Corp., William Herbert Hunt Trust Estate and Union Texas
Petroleum Corp. have been duly notified.

An exception to 20 AAC 25.055(a)(1) is necessary to allow drilling
of the well.
CONCLUSION:
Granting a spacing exception to allow drilling of the ARCO Fiord No. 1
well as proposed will not result in waste nor jeopardize correlative
rights.
NOW, THEREFORE IT IS ORDERED:
ARCO Alaska, Inc.'s application for an exception to 20 AAC 25.055 for
the purpose of drilling the Fiord No. 1 well is approved as proposed.
DONE at Anchorage, Alaska and dated January 2, 1992.

ARCO Alaska, Inc. hereby applies for an exception to the provisions of 20 AAC
25.055 for the drilling of the ARCO Fiord #1, for which the proposed location is:
(1) Surface Location: 514' FSL, 262' FWL, Section 2,
Township 12N, Range 5E, UM
(2) Intersection with Top of Target Interval: Same
(3) Total Depth: Same
The owners of the governmental quarter sections directly and diagonally offsetting
the proposed location of the well include Hunt Petroleum Corp., Texaco Producing,
Inc., Nelson Bunker Trust Estate, Lamar Hunt Trust Estate, Maxus Exploration Co.,
Rosewood Resources, Inc., Amerada Hess Corp., William Herbert Hunt Trust
Esatate and Union Texas Petroleum Corp. ARCO will act as operator in drilling this
well at the proposedlocation.
Attached as required are the following:
· Copy of notice of application for spacing exception sent to offsetting
leaseholders with affidavit of mailing
· Well location / lease plat with list of offsetting lease holders and operators
· Designation of Operator
· Affidavit of verification of the information presented here
This well is planned as a straight hole with a total depth of approximately 10,500'.

William J. Penrose, being fa'st duly sworn, upon oath, deposes and states as follows:
1. My name is William J. Penrose. I am over 19 years old and have personal knowledge
of the matters set forth herein.
2. I am a Senior Drilling Engineer for the well operator, ARCO Alaska, Inc.
3. Hunt Petroleum Corp.,Texaco Producing, Inc., Nelson Bunker Trust Estate, Lamar
Hunt Trust Estate, Maxus Exploration Co., Rosewood Resources, Inc., Amerada Hess Corp.,
William Herbert Hunt Trust Esatate and Union Texas Petroleum Corp. are the sole lessees of all
governmental quarter sections directly and diagonally offsetting the quarter section of the proposed
location of the Fiord #1 wildcat.
4. I personally witnessed the mailing, by certified mail, of a copy of the application to
the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission for exception to the provisions of 20 AAC
25.055 for the Fiord #1 to the appropriate representatives of Hunt Petroleum Corp.,Texaco
Producing, Inc., Nelson Bunker Trust Estate, Lamar Hunt Trust Estate, Maxus Exploration Co.,
Rosewood Resources, Inc., Amerada Hess Corp., William Herbert Hunt Trust Esatate and Union
Texas Petroleum Corp.

Re: The application of ARCO Alaska, Inc. for exception to 20 AAC
25.055 to allow drilling the ARCO Fiord No. 1 exploratory oil well.
ARCO Alaska, Inc. by letter dated December 5, 1991, has requested
an exception to the provision of 20 AAC 25.055. The exception would
allow drilling the ARCO Field No. 1 exploratory well from a surface
location closer than 500 feet from the boundary of a drilling unit. The
proposed location is 514' from the south line (FSL) and 262' from the
west line (FWL) of section 2, T12N, R5E, Umiat Meridian.
