Subject: Corrosion Inhibitor Treatments of MPC -Pad
Dear Mr. Maunder,
Enclosed please find multiple copies of a spreadsheet with a list of wells from MPC -Pad
that were treated with corrosion inhibitor in the surface casing by conductor annulus.
The corrosion inhibitor is engineered to prevent water from entering the annular space
and causing external corrosion that could result in a surface casing leak to atmosphere.
The attached spreadsheet represents the well name, API and PTD numbers, top of
cement depth prior to filling and volumes of corrosion inhibitor used in each conductor.
As per previous agreement with the AOGCC, this letter and spreadsheet serve as
notification that the treatments took place and meet the requirements of form 10 -404,
Report of Sundry Operations.
If you require any additional information, please contact me or my alternate, Gerald
Murphy, at 659 -5102.
Sincerely, •
Mehreen Vazir

Presently we are preparing to run 7" casing on MPC40 in Milne Point. We have
changed from the original program by top setting in the D shale above the Kuparuk
formation. Then we plan to drill out with a 6 1/8" bit and drill to 11,228' (7391' TVD)
which will put us through the Kuparuk where we will run and cement in palce a 4 W'
liner.
The completion for this well calls for the drilling rig to run a 4 W' frac string and~
off in the tubing head with no packer.

Guys,
For your information here is the messages exchanged on C-40. According
to Shultz, their geologists are interpreting crossing a fault about 100'
md up the hole.

Steve,
Further to our conversations, you have approval to set your 7" casing high as
proposed. As you and your colleagues get the information gathered on this
event, we look forward to discussing the information and determinations. We are
particular curious whether this is some regional trend given the similarity of
the C-12A incident about a year ago. Please contact us when you have the
information put together.

3. Run 1 Bow Spring centralizer on either side of the Port collar.
1. Run (1) rigid straight vane centralizer per joint on the first 30 joints.
2. Centralizers should be attached between a tool joint and a stop collar.
Other Cement Considerations: 1. Mix the slurries on the fly (Batch mix if < 100 bbl). 2. Confirm blends and calculations at the rig site.

"Drill-Out" FIT's will be specified in the well plan
Formation Integrity Test Procedure:
1. Determine the required surface pressure.
2. In the case of a surface casing shoe, a PPG EMW should be sufficient unless the well plan notes differently.
3. Test the casing prior to drilling out the float collar.
i) Run the mud pump at a constant 0.25--0.5 bpm and record results. One-stroke pressure readings are
recommended, but in all cases record pressures in at least five-stroke increments. If the pressures are
increasing rapidly enough to make this reading too large, take pressure readings at 30-second
intervals. PIct the results for reference during the following LOT.
ii) When the required test pressure is reached, suspend pumping and hold the test pressure for thirty
minutes. Check that the test is being accurately recorded on a chart.
4. Drill remaining cement, float collar, float shoe and 20-ft to 50-ft of new hole.
i) Note: In cases where mud weight will be reduced at a minimum of 0.5 PPG after drilling out for the
next hole interval, a drill out formation integrity test may be used. In this case, the 20-ft to 50-ft of new
hole will be exposed to the higher mud weight and a flow check performed for a minimum of 10
minutes. If no losses are observed during the flow check, a conventional FIT is not required. The drill
out FIT may only be used if stated as such in the drilling permit for the respective well.
5. Circulate and condition mud to a constant mud weight and rheology.
6. Pull into the casing shoe.
7. Close a blowout preventer.
8. Run the mud pump at a constant 0.25 to 0.5 bpm.
9. Match the pump rate to the one used during the previous casing pressure test.
10. Stop the pump when the required test pressure is reached.
11. Close appropriate valves if surface leaks are suspected.
12. Hold and record the pressure every 30 seconds for 10 minutes minimum.
13. In the event that the pressure continues to bleed off without becoming constant continue to hold and record the
pressures at 30 second intervals for another 5 minutes. Surface equipment should be checked for leaks and if
any found the test redone.
14. Check to ensure that the chart recorder is accurately recording the test.
!5. Bleed back mud from the well and compare with the volume pumped. Record volume in trip tank or
cement tanks.
16.
Document the FIT results on the IADC sheet and on next morning report. For consistency among rigs,
use the Excel spreadsheet LOT Version 5.0 (on the Drilling File Server in the LOT folder) to plot the casing
and leak off tests. Immediately send the leak-off test plot and pressure recorder charts to the office to be
stored with the rest of the reports in the well file. If there is any question about the interpretation of the FIT
results, inform the drilling superintendent before drilling ahead

Ri site Hazards
MPC-40 Drilling Hazards and Contingencies
POST THIS NOTICE IN THE DOGHOUSE
1. Well Control
1.1. The Pad Data Sheet documents numerous instances of over pressure in wells drilled from 'C' pad.
Abnormal pressures are present both in and above the Kuparuk zone in the heavily developed portion of
the C pad area and have required mud weights as high as 13.8 ppg. These high pressure intervals are
a result of water and gas injection in the greater 'C' pad area. ~ ~
1.2. C-40 is anticipated to be at e~ .,~,-,.. a ,,,~,,,,.,,~,~o~,.,~,, ~,au,~,,, ~,f O~'ppg. We expect this block to be
normally or under pressured for three reasons.
1.2.1. C-40 will be drilled to the southwest of C-pad. There are very few C-pad wells drilled in this
direction. The instances of overpressure have all been experienced to the north of C-pad in the
more heavily developed waterflood and IWAG injection areas.
1.2.2. All of the pressure data recorded in the proposed C-40 area has.shown pressure near or below
9.0 ppg (both current and historical). The attached schematic ("Simplified Subsurface
Interpretation") shows the current and the pertinent historical pressure data for all of the wells
surrounding the C-40 location. No well in this area has ever recorded a pressure in excess of 9.3
ppg. The only well that has a relatively high pressure is L-01, and that well is over 10,000 ft. away
from the proposed C-40 location and two fault blocks to the west.
1.2.3. There has been very little historical injection anywhere near the C-40 proposed location. C-36i is
the closest injector location (over 6,000 ft away). This well (C-36i) was slightly depleted when it
was drilled in mid-1998, hasn't injected a large volume of fluid, and has a well-identified offtake
point (L-12) to keep the reservoir pressure below 9.0 ppg.
1.3. The fault to the south of the proposed C-40 location is extremely large and will definitely be a barrier to
any fluid or pressure communication. Also, there is only one well in the vicinity to the south, L-42i. This
is also a relatively new injector and also has a defined offtake point from J-pad to keep the reservoir
pressure at or below a 9.0 ppg gradient.
2. Hydrates and Shallow gas
2.1. There has never been any hydrates, shallow gas, or unexpected shallow hydrocarbon problems on C-
pad.
3. Lost Circulation/Breathing
3.1. Lost circulation is unlikely. If it does happen it will be in the Kup. Follow the Baroid LCM decision tree.
3.2. Breathing is well documented at Milne Point between the Schrader Bluff and the HRZ when ECD's reach
11.5 ppg.
4. Stuck Pipe
4.1. We do not expect stuck pipe. The risks of drilling through the Kingak shale have been identified and the
appropriate MW and good drilling practices will be followed. Ref. "Kingak Wellbore Stability Study,
Prudhoe Bay, Alaska".
5. Hydrogen Sulfide
5.1. MPC-Pad is not a designated H2S Pad from a drilling perspective. For more H2S info, consult the
expanded Hazards and Risks section of the wellplan.
